Police Storm Troopers v. Protestors Occupiers or not

Are we turning into a police state?

The Occupy Wall Street protests have dropped from the headlines for a little while and they come back from time to time but there is little talk about addressing any of their concerns. There are protests about just about every other subject you can imagine and in most cases the politicians are making it clear that they’re going to do the most extreme thing possible if the majority of the public doesn’t make an enormous amount of noise and if they do they will still do as much as they can get away with while distorting the coverage in the Mass Media.

This was just a relatively small sample of what I found when Googling photos for police protestors storm troopers. There are many more where that cam from and the government doesn’t seem to be responding to the public much if at all; instead they continue breaking records when it comes to collecting bribes thinly disguised as campaign contributions and feeding those who accept the traditional Mass Media as a reliable source an enormous amount of propaganda bought and paid for by those bribes.

We still have a few more months before the election and if we can elect a large number of independent candidates including a third party president at the Grass Roots level then worse violence by the state and purges can hopefully be avoided; if not there will be much more protests and whether they escalate to purges or not may depend whether or not their storm Troopers obey or not.

The protester with the bloody forehead says it all. Yes, it is a police state, Zachery. Rated.

We are either in a police state or rapidly becoming one. The constitution means far less to many in power, than we want to believe. I witnessed judge after judge , prosecutor after prosecutor, and police after police disregard any expected protocols and all due process, over and over again . Call them out on it and then they really get angry. Blog about it and this happens:

No suspicion of a crime, or any crime , preceded that spectable. Some argue that we are free to blog and protest .

This is only in theory, and not in practice, too often to imagine. Man oh man do I have proof of that.

Awesome shots, Zachd. So well done and well said! Zero tolerance is happening with the new no trespassing tightening and steeper sentences for protesters and the Gestapo treatment that we witnessed with grotesque UNDER-REACTION from the non-youth progressives ANd independents AND conservatives for the most part. Boiled Frogs R We! I don't understand the question above me about blaming the mayors OR the 1 percenters? Why does it have to be either or and some are one and the same or at least working for the 1 percenter puppeteers. And our Mayor Bloomberg in NYC, I blame him A LOT, Mr. 14th richest man in the world, DUH. Governor Cuomo, faux-good Dem Gov linked at the hip with Wall Street. Cronyism that is a lock, and they sell out so easily to the plight of the people for power and for money. Fascism, come on down to America. Don't worry, the big media will cover for ya. The pols, whatever fits their needs at the moment and keeps those who pimp them out happy. Our youth dying overseas for years now in the wars for corporate profit. Why not let our youth suffer here trying to push against the oligarchs who stole their futures with the storm troopers and are making their fellow youth die, be maimed psychologically and physically. I mean national security and homeland security have access to the same toys to oppress people. It was only a matter of time until they brought it home. What is a little water boarding? Maybe that will be a toy for homeland torture? Evil for evil's sake once you are sliding down that slippery slope. Assume the ostrich stance and we will be safe? Vote for Obama and we will be safe? NO! We aren't and won't be. Both legacy parties are captured. And dissent is not an act of treason, it is an act of courage to SAVE our republic not threaten it. The ones running our republic are the ones destroying it. Isn't that so, Barack? best, libby

As a participant in the anti-WTO protests in Seattle, the police state started for me in Nov 1999. The right to peacefully dissent and protest is a fundamental right in a free and democratic society. No government, no matter how enlightened, always gets it right. As far as I can see, Americans no longer have the right to freedom of speech or assembly.

Erica, pictures, which include links to other peoples comments on the subject, do seem to do a better job than some of my longer rants that take more time to prepare.

Fernsy, I don’t know where to begin with that one; for starters you say that is unheard of; unfortunately even when it happened that probably wasn’t true, although they have done a better job keeping these kind of stories low profile.

I’m not familiar with your case but they provide many more of these types of tapes on TV on a regular basis and it is clear that they’re primarily for either entertainment or propaganda purposes. For some, with the proper educational background, they provide a large example of how things should never be done. I tried to cover some of that in several posts, the most recent one is probably the one about Crime Profiteering.

Even if they have a legitimate case for many of the things they show on TV shows like Nancy Grace (less) they should do much more to provide opportunities for people that earn a living than they do; education and fair economics etc. is much cheaper than courts and prisons to make it relatively short. Unfortunately they have their own narrow ideologies that don’t consider inconvenient facts.

Art, they can’t keep this up without causing their own downfall eventually, and taking many of the rest of us with them.

Baltimore, Now that you mention it I did offer “Applause for Obama” sort of.

Libby, actually most of this was work from other people; it was a relatively quick and lazy blog that linked to those that did the real work. You understand at least one question as well as you need to.

Don’t worry about the rambling; I do it too and it is better than the complacency by many.

Stuart, for many people it started long before I paid attention. In fact it has been common throughout history and many of us aren’t taught about it. I never heard of the Palmer Raids in school; it wasn’t until I was over forty before I read about it and wondered why this was news to me.
