All eight of Connecticut's megachurches are in cities with below averate rates for the nation and only one is in a city with above average rate for the state; however all eight are in the suburbs of two cities, Hartford and New Haven with well above average rates for both the nation and the state. If these two big cities didn't have such a high rate the state would be much lower.
Eighteen out of thirty eight of Arizona's megachurches are in cities with above both the national and state murder rates, in three different cities; ten of those are in Phoenix with tweice the national rate; six in Tuscon with about seventy percent above the national average and the other two are in Glendale only moderately above average; the rest are all in the suburbs of Phoenix some bordering it, a few of those, mostly wealthier suburbs are well below average and others only moderately below average; but even the lowest are still higher than Europe's least violent countries.

eighty-two of California's two hundred and twenty-seven megachurches are in cities with above average murder rates; an additional three are in cities with rates above the national average but below the state average; thirteen of them are in cities with more than double the national average; seven of those are in cities with three to five times the national average murder rates; most of the other ones above average are in cities with more than fifty percent above average including the twenty in Los Angeles, and the ones in a few other large cities which are almost double the national rate. The majority of the ones below average murder rates are in the suburbs of larger cities with the largest share outside of Los Angeles; some of them are in the suburbs of San Diego and San Jose, both of which have below average murder rates, which is very unusual for large cities, however they're still above three, along with almost half of the other ones below average, which means that even though over sixty percent of them are in cities with below average rates, since the ones above average are well above average the average for cities with megachurches would still be above average, although not by as much as most states, especially in the South.

Thirty-four of Georgia's ninety-four megachurches are in cities that have an above average murder rate and seventeen of those are in Atlanta with four times the national murder rate; another ten of those are in cities with at least twice the national average or up to six times the national average; an additional fourteen are in cities with above the national average but below the state average; all but five of the remaining megachurches are relatively close to Atlanta, with most of them very close often bordering it; these range from wealthy communities with low murder rates to middle class communities with rates that are only slightly below average. The handful of other megachurches are near some of the other abandoned inner cities in either Georgia or a few near Tennessee, with only one or two a significant distance from any major crime centers. Most of Georgia's megachurches are heavily concentrated in their most segregated cities, by crime, at least, if not race.

Illinois has a total of fifty-seven megachurches in the state with 15 of them in Chicago with an above average rate of 17.85 and another seven are also in cities with above average rates for both the nation and the state. There are four more megachurches in cities with above average rates for the nation but below average for the state; one of those is in the suburbs of Chicago. Twenty-four megachurches are in the suburbs of Chicago with below average rates ranging from slightly lower than average for the nation to zero, in some of the communities that have high incomes. One other is below average and bordering East St. Louis, on the other side of the state with an average rate of 76.77, one of the worst rates in the nation and hardly ever reported to the public in the mass media, although this is one of the cities reported on by Jonathan Kozol in "Savage Inequalities." Another major abandoned inner city that practically never gets media attention is Maywood, which is near Chicago, but has a murder rate even worse at 31.51, yet hardly anyone has ever heard of it. Louisiana has consistently had the highest murder rates in the nation and eleven out of twenty-six of their megachurches are in cities with well above the national rate and the state rate; three of them are in Baton Rouge with over four times the national average rate; and four of them are in New Orleans with a rate ten times the national average; an additional two are just outside in Metairie with almost as high if not as high a rate; only three of them are in cities with below average rates for the nation and two of those in a city just across the lake from New Orleans with ten times the national rate; all but one of the megachurches below average for both the nation and state and one with below average for the nation but above for the state are in the suburbs of the cities with much higher rates. Clearly the average murder rates for the Louisiana cities with megachurches are well above average for both the nation and the state; which means that most of the cities without megachurches in them must be below average, often well below otherwise the state rate would be even higher than it already is.

Nine out of forty-four of Maryland's megachurches are in Baltimore with a rate of 40.45, one of the highest murder rates in the nation; an additional six are in cities with above average rates; and ten more, in addition to the ones in Maryland are in Washington DC with a rate of 27.07. Most of the remaining twenty-six megachurches are in cities with limited records about murder rates, so some of them might also be above average although most of them are probably not, although a search of the internet often indicates that tehre are more murders in a coulpe of these towns; however all but one of these are in the suburbs of either Baltimore or Washington DC or in many cases both, since they're not far apart. Washington DC residents have no elected representatives to Congress who makes decisions about providing resources for their city, and they're clearly not even trying to do a good job. Baltimore does have elected officials but they don't seem to be doing much better. Even though most of the megachurches are in cities with below average rates, the average of the cities with megachurches must be well above average since Baltimore rates are so bad, especially if you consider how close these suburbs are to these two abandoned inner cities and include Washington DC in the average. This is one of the most blatant examples of apartheid in the country, just outside of the seat of government, and it is hardly ever mention in the national media or debated during election time.

Three out of twenty-nine of Minnesota's megachurches are in Minneapolis with a rate double the national average; another one is in St.Paul with above average rate for the nation and state; and one more is above average for the state but below average for the nation. The other twenty-four are all in the suburbs near the twin cities; even though the majority of them are below average for both the nation and the state the average would be above average for the state since Minneapolis is so much higher than the rest of the state. Everything in between has much lower rates; an additional seven are in cities that are either barely below the national rate or above it but below the state rate; only five of the megachurches are in the middle of the state large distances from the major cities; the other fifteen are relatively close to either St. Louis or Kansas City. This is one of the most blatant examples of apartheid policies in the country, although the media rarely reports on it.

Thirty of New York's forty-two megachurches are in cities with above average murder rates for both the nation and the state and one more is in a city with above average rates for the state, but not the nation. Twenty-seven of them are in New York City, which is only moderately above the national rate but significantly above the state rate; however most of those are listed by their boroughs and there are numerous articles indicating that they're in the most violent portions of New York City, including Brooklyn, which has ten megachurches, Queens, which has seven and Harlem and the Bronx. Many of these are presumably well above the national average; and one of the three outside of New York City, in Rochester is almost four times the national average. Most of the remaining megachurches are either in cities where the rates were unavailable or they were low, in a couple cases they didn't have any murder at all; however most if not all of them were close to larger cities with much higher rates.

At least Twenty-eight of Ohio's fifty-seven megachurches are in cities with above average murder rates; however there are also a few in cities that border major cities with above average rates with small populations, where the murder rates may be higher, so that figure might be low; twenty-three of these are in cities with more than double the national average and a few more are just below that level; ten of those are in cities with almost four times, if not more than four times the national murder rate. All but two or three of the megachurches in cities with below average murder rates are fairly close to the high crime cities, some of them bordering them. four or five of them are only moderately below the national average; however most of the others are well below, which is to be expected, since the large cities have such high rates, in order to avoid getting into the top ten murder rates with a higher rate, the rest of Ohio has to be well below average. Like many other states Ohio has lots of cities with well above average murder rates surrounded by suburbs with very low rates, sometimes as low as Europe's least violent countries. However in most cases it should be clear that if they provided reasonable education and child care services, instead of spending all that money on courts and prisons, that they could keep the low rates in the suburbs without the high rates in the cities.

Thirteen of Virginia's forty-four megachurches are in cities with above average murder rates for the nation, although one of them is below average for the state; four of these are in Richmond which is five times the national average; another four are in either Norfolk or Portsmouth which are almost three times the national average; seventeen more are near Washington DC, with a rate of five times the national average often in wealthy neighborhoods; the rest are mostly in Eastern Virginia but there are a couple near Roanoke, since the population of Virginia is relatively concentrated they're all relatively close to one of their abandoned inner cities, which are two to five times the national murder rate even though Virginia is about ten percent below that average. Some of them didn't have complete data and are presumably below average but that isn't certain.

Only five of Washington's fifty-one megachurches are above average for the nation and four of those are in Tacoma, one of their biggest cities, the other is in a small isolated town that had a few high profile murders recently and a threat to kill that looked like it might have come from a religious extremist. An additional fifteen were below average for the nation but above average for the state; almost all of the remaining ones are in the suburbs outside of Seattle or Tacoma, which are fairly close together, one of them is bordering Portland Oregon and three of them are in isolated areas. Three of them are in cities with a rate of less than one; however since the average rate for the state is so low, and many of the below average cities are barely below it, the average rate for cities with megachurches would probably still be above the state average.

They were based on the information in the following Wikipedia pages as well as other sources cited in the article.
Most of the murder rates on this page are averages from 2002 to 2016, which were calculated from the best data available, mostly from City-Data or what ever source is listed under the city. To calculate average murder rates for cities with population of under 250,000 I used the following Wikipedia pages, which weren't selected by people that knew the purpose for it and might have been inclined to change them for that purpose. Even though I had fifteen year averages for the cities with Megachurches available, I only used the data from the years listed by Wikipedia to keep them statistically consistent.

The six cities without Megachurches not included in the second calculation that mostly have Megachurches just beyond the border but not within the city are Youngstown, Ohio, which has a Megachurch a few miles away but it isn't quite bordering, Wilmington, NJ, which is the only city not bordering a megachurch or with one no more than a few miles away, Trenton, NJ, Gary, Indiana, Compton, NJ, and Camden, NJ, the last four have Megachurches in bordering towns and more close by. The total population for these six cities is 480,166 with 197 murders in 2014 the average Rate is 41.02748. The other two removed for the sake of the second calculation with at least a couple Megachurches each are Macon Georgia 92,836/21 and Fort Myers Florida 64,379/24.
