Walmart had at least ten more shootings related to their business, including two that were fatal, one of these was a suspect shot and killed by the police after the suspect allegedly shot one of the officers, there was at least one more officer involved shooting where a suspect was injured but not killed, and two separate shooting where suspects allegedly shot at police, one missing and another critically injuring the Officer, and at least three other injuries related to the shootings. The other fatal shooting was the only one not on their property, but the shooter was a delivery driver who went to Walmart and was arrested there after the shooting. There were no charges against him, because he claimed self defense and that the person he killed had a hatchet, and he was unnamed nor is it clear if he was delivering for Walmart, but that's where he went and was picked up.
There was also a follow up on two previous fatal shootings; one where the family a victim shot and killed in July 2023 filed a lawsuit against Walmart and others involved in it. The second was reports of a Senatobia Mississippi Police Chief who regularly used racial slurs which presumably contributed to racist attitudes within the police department, possibly including the officer who shot and killed a toddler in June. Following this revelation the Police Chief was fired. The police Officer who killed the toddler, however, hasn't been charged with murder or even fired, despite growing amount of evidence indicating he should be and public protest demanding this. There was also an editorial about this shooting and ICE arrests indicating that demonizing minorities or immigrants is contributing to violence.
In addition to the shootings there were close to if not more than half a dozen additional gun crimes including several threats with guns, attempts to stead guns, and people displaying guns in a manner that was considered threatening to demonstrate their use of their Second Amendment rights.
In addition to the two people killed in the shootings there were also two people killed in accidents and three people and one dog found dead in their parking lots for a total of seven dead last month.
Some residents in at least one town, probably many more, are concerned about uniformed off-duty police working security at Walmart, raising questions about conflicts of interests and if these police are more concerned with serving Walmart's interests or the public's, both when working security and on the public's payroll. A bigger concern is why these questions aren't raised much more often. There are also more stories about a Walmart employee sexually harassing customers.
There have been a growing number of possible cases of entrapment or vigilantism with sting groups trying to catch alleged child predators meeting underage girls or girls that claim to be underage while on line. Police advise against this, but in other cases they thank them for their help even though it could lead to more violence than it prevents. One of these incidents happened at Walmart last month.
There were also numerous major assaults, including a man throwing a child to the ground, another man kicking a man unconscious, cops spending time searching for a man who found $30 on the floor and didn't turn it in, cops going to the trouble to use a K-9 dog to sniff out a petty shoplifter, and a thief who hacked into a customers account and charged $2,000 to her account, possibly because Walmart of the card holder isn't securing it properly, but she's stuck with the bill, for some reason.
There were a couple Florida correctional officers arrested for stealing "Magic: The Gathering" cards, which don't seem to have any practical value, except for the perceived value created by deceptive advertising designed to convince people to spend money they don't have on things they don't need, which inevitably leads to higher crime without improving anyone's quality of life. One job applicant at Walmart was shown a video of him stealing.
He didn't get the job, but at least he didn't get arrested, which is surprising at Walmart.
In addition to the two people killed in accidents there were a dozen or so major accidents, including one person that intentionally chased and rammed another vehicle, carjackings, a case where four people were hit in a path not meant for cars, a police officer dragged 100 feet by a shoplifter, an argument that ended with a woman climbing on a hood and the driver kept driving, A couple people crashing into the store, with one hitting a car and pedestrian first, and a theft of a Krispy Kreme delivery truck, among other thing. There were also two vehicles that caught fire, or in once case, the trash in the vehicle. There were also more than half a dozen fires at their stores, including at least one arson, but more are under investigation and some of them may also be arson.
They also had at least a couple stabbings in two of their stores, and another person made up a false story of a stabbing in an attempt to distract from a theft where he was injured by other means.
Walmart has had a large surge in recalls in previous months, if not the past couple years, so high few people can keep track of them, often with a dozen if not well over a dozen reported each month, including last month. Some of them are incredibly obvious, like bureaus that tip over, which happens half a dozen or more times per year, even though they can easily create reasonable standards and prevent them completely. Others have included incredibly useless products like a mini-refrigerator that only holds a six-pack, and several of them in recent years have been recalled for starting fires.
However, sometimes there may even be a bigger problem, possibly when they cut so many corners, that it contributes to possibly risky issues, but for financial reasons, may not agree to a recall, and some people suspect they may make people sick, or one case where the CSPC warned of a possible electric hazard, but there was no recall. Walmart is constantly pressuring suppliers to cut cost which might put both workers, often in dangerous sweatshops not widely reported, and customers at risk.
There have also been reports about how Walmart isn't honoring warranties for tires or batteries either because the battery manufacturer went out of business, or they have an absurd rule about bringing the entire care in with a flat tire to ensure there's no fraud, but of course that means towing charges, which defeat the purpose, and they didn't notify customers until it was too late. How many of their other warranties are scams?
If you were running a grocery store would you ban a celebrity from buying groceries for people who can't afford it? If it sounds this stupid Walmart just might be doing it, and in this case they are. They banned Comedian Damon Darling for this, and his fans called for a boycott; for some reason Damon Darling opposed the boycott even though Walmart didn't reverse the ban or apologize.
Not surprisingly Walmart's delivery services are leading to disastrous results, with many deliveries going to wrong addresses, and Walmart often refuses to give refunds, sometimes contributing to fights, which didn't happen last month, but did happen previously. One TikToker set out to find out how much he would have to earn $100 and found it was a disaster, and that many subcontractors may often find that they get little or no pay, which means they have less incentive to take the job and possibly more incentive to rush it leading to these problems.
One woman found that Walmart has what she calls a "Pink Tax" because they charge much more for girls clothes than boys, and provided examples and receipts to prove it. Other complaints include allowing an eleven-year-old-boy to rack up a bill for two thousand dollars when he had access to an electronic devise used to order things on electronic payments.

Strange things happen at Walmart!
In 2006 Wake Up Walmart did a study, "Is Walmart Safe?" based on incidents in 2004, (PDF) about crime at Walmart which showed that it increased when Walmarts opened up and that crime was higher at Walmart than at other retailers. Since then Walmart Shootings began compiling a list of gun related incidents at Walmart and demonstrated that they have a large number of them, including on average more than one shooting per week somewhere in the country; now after counting them for several years that average is over two per week. In January of 2014 another study, "Rolling Back Prices and Raising Crime Rates?" provided additional statistical research indicating that Walmart might be contributing to higher crime rates or at least a slowing of the decline in crime. The study found that. “on average, communities with Walmarts had 17 more property crimes and two more violent crimes per 10,000 people than those communities without Walmarts.” I reviewed this more in Walmart’s crime problem, Rolling Back Safety more than prices? where I explained that although this study is helpful they could have done better with additional data that is available and I reviewed some of that. I also added my own review about why I think that Walmart policies have been contributing to higher crime in a previous blog, Walmart high crime rate continues un-investigaterd and have provided additional information under the author tag Walmart Crime Watch.
Over the past ten to fifteen years Walmart has been increasing the use of self-checkout, and this has corresponded with a steady increase in shoplifting as well as false accusations, yet they refuse to even discuss returning to the use of cashiers. What most people seem to have forgotten was that when they first did this it was on a small scale as an experiment, presumably to see if it worked before expanding it, which would actually make sense, if they slowed it down or reversed it once they saw how many problems it caused. But that's not what they did. Instead the more problems they had the more they increased use of self-checkout, often claiming that instead of hiring more cashiers again, which worked previously, they resorted to more technology and hiring more security to catch people skip scanning or at other forms of theft. This has led to massive amounts of false accusations, in addition to the real thefts, and when the thefts are real, and they get caught, they often resort to violence, so it endangers both Walmart workers and customers.
Now they're acting as if the rise of shoplifting is happening for some inexplicable reason and even asking police to help them solve this problem, as if it wasn't a problem created by their own policies, and most of the media or politicians aren't pointing out the obvious. This is resulting in a massive increase in arrests, court expenses, and prison expenses, which Walmart isn't paying for, effectively meaning we are subsidizing Walmart's high crime problems with tax money. There's no official explanation for why they're behaving so foolishly; but, since this is a for profit corporation it's not hard to speculate about the most likely reason for it, that they're increasing profits for those making the decisions. But, a large portion of the money saved by not hiring cashiers is spent on technology or security to catch thieves; and, if they had to pay the increase in police, courts and prison costs that would reduce or eliminate their savings, and they would almost certainly reverse their policies, because they wouldn't be increasing profits with self-checkout.
This doesn't even include the risk to the health of both their customers and workers when the worst thieves turn violent, in some cases possibly even shooting and killing people. Every year since 2016 has seen more than a hundred shootings at Walmart, and more often than not, this is increasing, while they ignore the causes of their crime problems. These self-checkouts are also making it easier for thieves to put "skimmers" that collect credit or debit card information from customers that enable them to use their cards illegally, but, once again, the customers are stuck with the tab, not Walmart, so they're doing little or nothing to stop this, even though it's a direct result of their bad policies. And furthermore, courts have ruled that Walmart has a right to detain customers even when they have no reason to believe they're shoplifting, if they simply refuse to show receipts, as a matter of principle. At times some lawyers have claimed they need probable cause to ask to see receipts, which, if a customer goes directly from the register, sometimes even when there's a cashier, to the door they can't possibly have. So this means Walmart is under no obligation to assume their paying customers are innocent until proven guilty, which should raise major constitutional questions!
Stacy Mitchell has also compiled a list of other studies about Walmart and how they impact society, Key Studies on Big-Box Retail & Independent Business. To the best of my knowledge Walmart has done as little as they seem to get away with, often relying on rhetoric that isn't backed up with action, when it comes to addressing any of their critics concerns, including crime. One of the responses they’ve come up with is what they call "Restorative Justice" which gives first time shoplifters a chance to avoid being arrested or any criminal record if they take an on line course which costs $400 up front or $500 in payments, plus perhaps, reparations. This has been part of the privatization process and often denies suspects of the due process or access to a lawyer, perhaps even intimidating and extorting from some people that might not even be guilty. Walmart seems to be trying to find a way to turn crime into a profit making situation instead of looking for the most effective ways to reduce it. This isn't statistically representative, as the 2006 or the "Rolling Back Prices and Raising Crime Rates?" study or some of the studies cited by Stacy Mitchell; but it does provide some additional information that may help recognize how many problems there are at Walmart.

Lorenzo was an unarmed man with no criminal history who was killed on his way to work. Witnesses say ICE agents rammed his vehicle then opened fire – and that they were never in any danger from Lorenzo.
The federal government has insisted on investigating itself and claimed no one had any of the body cameras ICE was given $20 million for. It has yet to provide any evidence to justify the shooting other than leaning into a lie that drugs were found in the vehicle afterwards. Testing revealed that was never true.

Walmart employee arrested for sexual battery on a customer in Muncie Ind. 08/03/2026
MUNCIE, Ind. — Muncie police have arrested a Walmart employee accused of sexually battering a customer and sending her unwarranted nude photographs.
Joshua Ramey, 35, was arrested Monday morning and booked into Delaware County Jail on a preliminary charge of sexual battery. The arrest comes after an alleged assault inside a local Walmart store on E. 29th Street in Muncie.
Court documents detail how Ramey was working at the store’s cell phone department last Wednesday when the alleged victim came to him for assistance. The woman said that, during her interaction with Ramey, he complimented her breasts and “spoke about his own genitals.”

Finding the best deals on children’s clothes is a challenge most moms are up for. Paying attention to sales and prices are prominent ways families save on monthly expenses.
So, when Missouri mom Shae (@shaeruralmomma) noticed a major price difference between girls’ clothes and boys’ clothes while shopping at a local Walmart, she shared the discovery with fellow parents. She noted that the girls’ clothes had fallen victim to the “Pink Tax“—a price hike on feminine-marketed items that are the exact same as male-marketed items.
“I’ve known about the Pink Tax on adult products for years—that’s why I switched to men’s razors and deodorant,” Shae, a rural stay-at-home mom, tells Upworthy. “But I was genuinely surprised to see what looked to be an even bigger price difference in children’s clothing.”
“Socks, $3…Bluey socks, $3…you go over to the girls’, Bluey, $9 [although the price tag is really $9.98]…Strawberry Shortcake socks, $9 [although the price tag is really $9.98]…Minnie Mouse socks, $9 [although the price tag is really $9.98]. Even the cheap ones are $6 [although the price tag is really $6.98].”

New Lenox police say a group created an account on a social media app they claimed belonged to a 15-year-old girl.
They allegedly set up a meeting at a New Lenox Walmart with 33-year-old Bryan Marinucci.
When he arrived, the group got into a fight with Marinucci.

Walmart completes its acquisition of TV advertising company Vibe.co 08/04/2026
Walmart announced on Tuesday that it has completed its acquisition of self-service streaming TV advertising platform Vibe.co. The acquisition, which was first announced in June, brings Vibe.co into Walmart Connect, the retailer’s connected TV advertising platform.
The Wall Street Journal previously reported that Walmart was paying $1.4 billion for the acquisition. Vibe.co’s platform enables small- and medium-sized brands to launch streaming TV campaigns across publishers. By combining Vibe.co’s platform with Walmart Connect, Walmart is expanding its connected TV advertising business and gaining new ways to reach customers.
“Vibe has built an exceptional platform that makes streaming TV advertising simple and accessible for businesses of all sizes,” said Ryan Mayward, GM and Senior Vice President of Walmart Connect, in a press release. “Together, we’ll build on that foundation to help advertisers connect with customers more seamlessly across streaming, shopping and the broader commerce journey while making advertising more measurable, effective and accessible.” Complete article
Walmart announced on Tuesday that it has completed its acquisition of self-service streaming TV advertising platform Vibe.co. The acquisition, which was first announced in June, brings Vibe.co into Walmart Connect, the retailer’s connected TV advertising platform.
The Wall Street Journal previously reported that Walmart was paying $1.4 billion for the acquisition. Vibe.co’s platform enables small- and medium-sized brands to launch streaming TV campaigns across publishers. By combining Vibe.co’s platform with Walmart Connect, Walmart is expanding its connected TV advertising business and gaining new ways to reach customers.

The mayor’s office has sent cease-and-desist letters to 40 online retailers, including Amazon, Walmart, Target, Temu, Wayfair and others, demanding that they stop selling electric bikes, electric scooters and similar vehicles that don’t comply with New York City’s laws.
According to the city, retailers have until later this month to stop selling the prohibited vehicles to New York City residents or potentially face fines of up to $2,000.
The move is part of the city’s ongoing effort to crack down on e-bikes that fall outside of NYC’s definition of electric bicycles. New York declared stricter limits on electric bicycles and e-scooters than most of the nation. A woman and a dog have been found dead in a vehicle in a McKinney Walmart parking lot on Saturday, police said.
Officers were called to the store at 3350 Virginia Pkwy. around 4:30 p.m., after a 53-year-old Jaton Lee had been found dead inside a vehicle in the parking lot. Police said a dog was also found dead inside the vehicle.
McKinney police said the Criminal Investigations Division and the Medical Examiner's Office responded to the scene.

Talwinger Singh Atwal says his visit to the Walmart on Tamarack Way in south Edmonton on Aug. 6 turned physical.
“One guy and one female, they passed me, and they were saying words against my religious clothes, my identity,” according to Atwal.
In an interview with CityNews’ sister station Focus Punjabi on OMNI TV, Atwal said at first he tried ignoring the couple, but after their multiple attempts to get his attention, he asked them what they were looking for.
“After that, he attacked me on my neck and pushed me away,” Atwal recounted.

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando police arrested a Florida woman early Tuesday after officers said she pushed a Walmart security guard and got into his marked patrol vehicle, according to an Orange County arrest affidavit.
Police were called to the Walmart at 3101 W. Princeton Street shortly after 1 a.m. for a reported battery, the affidavit states. Dispatchers advised responding officers that the suspect had taken control of a security guard’s vehicle.
When an Orlando police officer arrived, he wrote that he saw a woman — later identified as Anny Louis, 38 — sitting in the driver’s seat of the security vehicle “drinking a soda.”
Officers said they gave commands for her to get out, but she did not respond, the report says. Police then approached, removed her from the vehicle, and handcuffed her.

“The male brandished a handgun while inside the store and then loaded the handgun inside the store,” Case said. “He then left the location, walked across the parking lot and fired one round in the air.”

The Pine Bluff Police Department is investigating after a person was found dead inside a vehicle in the Walmart parking lot Sunday morning (Aug. 16).
Police responded to the Walmart shortly after 11 a.m. after receiving reports of a person found unresponsive in a vehicle. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and pronounced the person dead.
Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased or additional details surrounding the death. Complete article

A man was arrested and charged after he allegedly tried to steal a gun from the Grindstone Parkway Walmart on Tuesday.
James Zoeller, 30, of Columbia, was charged with first-degree burglary and stealing a gun. He is being held at the Boone County Jail on a $50,000 bond. A court appearance was held on Wednesday afternoon.
The probable cause statement says two employees saw Zoeller break into the gun case and take a hunting rifle. One employee stated they saw Zoeller use a red item to smash the glass case, the statement says. City of San Antonio Animal Care Services said officers responded alongside police on Tuesday when the calf was spotted wandering toward a Walmart store on Southeast Military Drive.
The calf entered the store's parking lot and even approached the front door before authorities arrived and pursued the bovine to a nearby green space.
However, before the young bull could be captured, it "quickly hoofed it underground into a large drainage tunnel," ACS said in a news release.

NORTH PORT, Fla. - Take a look at the grass lawn on the side of the Walmart parking lot on Tamiami Trail in North Port, and it seems normal, but take a step closer, and you will see a broken tail light, a damaged fence and cut down trees.

SENATOBIA — For many residents of this tiny city about 40 miles south of Memphis, the fatal police shooting of a 1-year-old Black toddler in June became a flashpoint after years of complaints about discriminatory and overzealous policing.
The toddler, Kohen Wiley, was killed when police officers shot at a vehicle he was in after they responded to a shoplifting call at a local Walmart store.
Last year, the city’s elected aldermen had forced out its previous police chief after a string of controversies, including an incident in which one of his officers had arrested a 10-year-old Black boy who had urinated in public. Upon arrival, firefighters entered the building through the rear of the store and located an office that had sustained minor fire damage. Once backup arrived, Kennicker deployed K9 Sam to track the fleeing suspect.

In a trending video with more than 16,000 views, content creator @clowcent2020 shared that he bought his tires from Walmart and added Road Hazard coverage but was surprised at how employees handled the situation.
“Walmart tire warranty. It’s a beatup,” the text overlay on the video reads. ......
He says an employee told him Walmart needed the entire truck with the flat tire still installed, not just the flat on its own. They do it this way so that the workers can check the vehicle’s mileage and confirm the tire matched the information in their system.
There was one fairly obvious problem. The tire is flat. “I can't—I can't blow it up,” he says, which was why he had taken it off the truck in the first place.
“The only way we can honor your warranty, you gotta bring the whole truck in with the tire on it,” he says the worker replied. Complete article
