Walmart had at least fourteen more shootings on their property or related to their business, with at least four of them causing one death each; but the first one started with activities that led to a shooting off their property and the last one was also off their property nearby and the victims driving to Walmart where they were treated, and the store closed because some people thought the shooting happened there. One of the fatal shootings was a carjacking suspect killed by police, two others were self-inflicted, which sounds like suicide, but one of those is unclear, leaving the possibility that it could be an accident, the other one was a murder suspect that shot him self while police were trying to talk him out of his car, which is clearly suicide, the last was someone killed by gunfire after a car crash, and there were at least five more injuries, one a suspect who shot at someone offering help was shot by police, the other four from three separate incidents, including two victims shot off the premises that went to Walmart for treatment or help. In addition to the shootings that involved Walmart business, there was also an employee shot and killed last month when she was off-duty, unrelated to her work, and they had a memorial for her at the end of the month.
There were also at least a dozen or so other gun related crimes, including robberies, or attempted robberies, threats of active shooters, domestic disputes by armed people, at least one chase following a robbery attempt, and at least one false alarm as well as another abandoned gun. In addition to the four people killed in shootings there was one person killed in a burning vehicle, a shoplifting suspect that died after swallowing an object in custody, and an ill child that died in a Walmart parking lot for unexplained reasons.
There was also at least one more robbery by hammer-wielding suspects in California, and police now suspect it's the same people committing robberies with the same pattern at different stores dozens of miles apart. Another man was accused of stomping on someone's head, and another incident involved police tasering a suspect. Another suspect was finally arrested after an hours long stand-off with police; there was also a domestic dispute where a man allegedly tried to strangle his girlfriend. There was also a wild Walmart video of a murder suspect arrested at Walmart last year released, a series of ATM thefts finally stopped by police, and many more assaults, including one with a screwdriver. There was also a man that was accused of spitting on an employee who refused to accept returns and also allegedly made racial slurs at a minority cop, claiming "I'm being detained for sneezing!" although this was caught on tape, like almost everything else at Walmart.
There were two people caught abusing animals at two different Walmarts, including one woman who dropped off abandoned cats and ran over them, and another man that abandoned a mother dog, stole the pups and sold them at a different Walmart, who was arrested and most of the pups were retrieved and placed in safe homes.
False accusations have become routine at Walmart, and they're often accompanied by lawsuits, with or without a lawsuit there were at least two more possible cases, one where a father and son spent the night in jail, despite the fact that they had a receipt, and if they looked at the full tape they would ahve seen them go through the register; and another case that was racially motivated and an uninvolved customer allegedly joined in the false accusations, which led to a lawsuit filed recently.
There's also a growing problem with scam artists putting skimmers on credit card or debit terminals to steal customer data and possibly charge things to their accounts robbing them. One customer was justifiably outraged when she found out, but this is being done on a much large scale but reporting on it is very low profile, so few people know about it. This is much more common on self-checkouts, but Walmart rarely changes policies when it's the customers at risk, not their own profits. Warning people about this might cost sales, so not surprisingly they don't do this.
Complaints continue going viral about Walmart's absurd theft prevention policies, which are getting extreme and ignore the fact that their theft problems skyrocketed when they increased use of self-checkout and created store designs making it easier to walk out with full carts in many places. These complaints include a growing number of cases where employees ask for receipt without probable cause to suspect stealing, and locking things up, often moving them from a locked case to a locked box they have to take to the register, making shopping absurdly difficult, eliminating any time saved by using self-checkout.
Is anyone at the corporate office even thinking about how foolish their own policies are? If they checked with local workers or customers they would know how idiotic what they're doing is.
In addition to the man that burnt to death in a burning car, there were about a dozen or more other major car crimes, crashes, chases, DUIs, etc. including a car that almost hit four people in the parking lot and a Walmart tractor trailer that struck an overpass and caused a traffic nightmare. There was also at least three more major fires, with one of them clearly arson, a second one was declared to be arson as well before investigators claimed that was a mistake and it was caused by electrical reasons, and the third was a roof fire, which is unlikely to be arson. And there was also one woman stabbed at one of their stores, which is fewer than usual knife crimes, assuming they weren't buried.
Walmart also had at least five more major recalls, including beef that may have E. coli contamination, Apple juice that might have high levels of arsenic, Chia seeds that might have salmonella, dog food that might have small pieces of metal, and Confectionary item for unknown reasons. These recalls are, as usual, only reported at a low profile manner, so if they are dangerous many people may find out the hard way by getting sick or dying.
Walmart is financing an effort to oppose an education amendment allowing all people to have access to a decent education, adding to the evidence that many wealthy people, including the Waltons, want to minimize education for working class people so they can be controlled and kept in their place, despite the many other problems this will lead to. They also continue "putting Ebenezer Scrooge to Shame' and have lost a judicial ruling claiming they violated labor laws. They were caught over pricing at 1,600 stores, and have been exposed profiting from abuse of animals in factory farms.
How often do you think shoplifters are ’emitting excrement’ on the cops that arrest them? Cops never stop the rich when they steal from the poor but spend an enormous amount of time arresting the poor for petty theft from the rich, is this fair payback?
How often do women at your local store go on rampages destroying hundreds of dollars worth of stuff before dropping their pants and flashing everyone?
Strange things happen at Walmart!
In 2006 Wake Up Walmart did a study, "Is Walmart Safe?" based on incidents in 2004, (PDF) about crime at Walmart which showed that it increased when Walmarts opened up and that crime was higher at Walmart than at other retailers. Since then Walmart Shootings began compiling a list of gun related incidents at Walmart and demonstrated that they have a large number of them, including on average more than one shooting per week somewhere in the country; now after counting them for several years that average is over two per week. In January of 2014 another study, "Rolling Back Prices and Raising Crime Rates?" provided additional statistical research indicating that Walmart might be contributing to higher crime rates or at least a slowing of the decline in crime. The study found that. “on average, communities with Walmarts had 17 more property crimes and two more violent crimes per 10,000 people than those communities without Walmarts.” I reviewed this more in Walmart’s crime problem, Rolling Back Safety more than prices? where I explained that although this study is helpful they could have done better with additional data that is available and I reviewed some of that. I also added my own review about why I think that Walmart policies have been contributing to higher crime in a previous blog, Walmart high crime rate continues un-investigaterd and have provided additional information under the author tag Walmart Crime Watch.
Over the past ten to fifteen years Walmart has been increasing the use of self-checkout, and this has corresponded with a steady increase in shoplifting as well as false accusations, yet they refuse to even discuss returning to the use of cashiers. What most people seem to have forgotten was that when they first did this it was on a small scale as an experiment, presumably to see if it worked before expanding it, which would actually make sense, if they slowed it down or reversed it once they saw how many problems it caused. But that's not what they did. Instead the more problems they had the more they increased use of self-checkout, often claiming that instead of hiring more cashiers again, which worked previously, they resorted to more technology and hiring more security to catch people skip scanning or at other forms of theft. This has led to massive amounts of false accusations, in addition to the real thefts, and when the thefts are real, and they get caught, they often resort to violence, so it endangers both Walmart workers and customers.
Now they're acting as if the rise of shoplifting is happening for some inexplicable reason and even asking police to help them solve this problem, as if it wasn't a problem created by their own policies, and most of the media or politicians aren't pointing out the obvious. This is resulting in a massive increase in arrests, court expenses, and prison expenses, which Walmart isn't paying for, effectively meaning we are subsidizing Walmart's high crime problems with tax money. There's no official explanation for why they're behaving so foolishly; but, since this is a for profit corporation it's not hard to speculate about the most likely reason for it, that they're increasing profits for those making the decisions. But, a large portion of the money saved by not hiring cashiers is spent on technology or security to catch thieves; and, if they had to pay the increase in police, courts and prison costs that would reduce or eliminate their savings, and they would almost certainly reverse their policies, because they wouldn't be increasing profits with self-checkout.
This doesn't even include the risk to the health of both their customers and workers when the worst thieves turn violent, in some cases possibly even shooting and killing people. Every year since 2016 has seen more than a hundred shootings at Walmart, and more often than not, this is increasing, while they ignore the causes of their crime problems. These self-checkouts are also making it easier for thieves to put "skimmers" that collect credit or debit card information from customers that enable them to use their cards illegally, but, once again, the customers are stuck with the tab, not Walmart, so they're doing little or nothing to stop this, even though it's a direct result of their bad policies. And furthermore, courts have ruled that Walmart has a right to detain customers even when they have no reason to believe they're shoplifting, if they simply refuse to show receipts, as a matter of principle. At times some lawyers have claimed they need probable cause to ask to see receipts, which, if a customer goes directly from the register, sometimes even when there's a cashier, to the door they can't possibly have. So this means Walmart is under no obligation to assume their paying customers are innocent until proven guilty, which should raise major constitutional questions!
Stacy Mitchell has also compiled a list of other studies about Walmart and how they impact society, Key Studies on Big-Box Retail & Independent Business. To the best of my knowledge Walmart has done as little as they seem to get away with, often relying on rhetoric that isn't backed up with action, when it comes to addressing any of their critics concerns, including crime. One of the responses they’ve come up with is what they call "Restorative Justice" which gives first time shoplifters a chance to avoid being arrested or any criminal record if they take an on line course which costs $400 up front or $500 in payments, plus perhaps, reparations. This has been part of the privatization process and often denies suspects of the due process or access to a lawyer, perhaps even intimidating and extorting from some people that might not even be guilty. Walmart seems to be trying to find a way to turn crime into a profit making situation instead of looking for the most effective ways to reduce it. Making Change at Walmart is asking If you or someone you know has gone through @Walmart's "Restorative Justice" program for first-time suspected shoplifters, send us a DM. 03/30/2017 to ensure that it isn’t doing more harm than good. I did my own review of this program as well at Walmart’s “Restorative Justice” Endangers Public Without Reducing Crime. The following are a list of incidents that occurred in May 2024. According to the "Is Walmart Safe?" the average store in their sampling had 250 incidents per year indicating that these are only a fraction of the crime reports at Walmart, and presumably, the ones most likely to make the news on the internet nationwide. This isn't statistically representative, as the 2006 or the "Rolling Back Prices and Raising Crime Rates?" study or some of the studies cited by Stacy Mitchell; but it does provide some additional information that may help recognize how many problems there are at Walmart.

Forsyth County father, son spend night in jail after Ga. Walmart mistakes them for crooks 05/01/2024
ATLANTA - A Forsyth County father’s visit to his local Walmart ended in handcuffs after store employees accused him of shoplifting. All it took was a call to FOX 5 to get those charges dismissed.
Michael Kruse told FOX 5 he's probably been to Walmart hundreds of times, but he never would’ve imagined a trip to this one would land him and his teen son in jail, falsely accused of stealing bags of sand that a receipt showed they paid for.
Body camera video from Forsyth County Sheriff’s deputies showed the officers reviewing surveillance video of a reported theft at a Walmart on Browns Mill Road last Saturday. The clip showed a man walking into the store, then out with several bags of sand.
Kruse told FOX 5 that Walmart used the video as probable cause to send deputies after him and his son. But, he said they were missing a fundamental part of the story.
"The security guard had started the tape and started looking while we were at the sand. While we were looking for a cart to get the sand, she didn’t bother to go back an extra two minutes to see we were actually in line at the cash register," Kruse explained. Complete article

This Mom Freaked Out At Walmart When Her Baby Formula More Than Doubled In Price 05/05/2024
Mortgages, food prices, gas prices…and now you can add baby formula to the list?!
A man posted a viral video on TikTok where he recounted a story about something disheartening he witnessed at his local Walmart store.
“I hear the biggest freak out from a woman in line with her two babies, and she goes, ‘How can I be $100 over budget? It’s the same baby formula that I’ve been buying.’”
“The cashier has the same face of bewilderment, saying ‘No, sweetheart. This has to be an accounting error, an inventory error or something. This is not correct. I just had another lady about a week ago with the same baby formula, the same amount. It shouldn’t have been this amount. There’s something wrong.’”
The cashier did some investigating, they found out that the price increase was real.
“The GM is looking at the floor manager, at the inventory manager, and he is like, ‘How are we supposed to sell baby formula if it just went up 100 bucks?’”
The man said that the manager reduced the price for the woman but also confirmed that the price increases occurred the previous week.
He ended his video by saying, “What the h*** is going on?” Complete article One anonymous employee claimed this happened at her store and the price trippled, she replied by not scanning it and letting them walk out without paying.

Bogus phone call alleging presence of active shooter at Ephrata Wash. Walmart sends community into a frenzy 05/08/2024
EPHRATA - Police are in the process of tracing a phone call that prompted an evacuation at Walmart in Ephrata and drew a large police response on Wednesday. At around 12:40 p.m., a report about an active shooter was phoned into Walmart prompting a call to law enforcement. The store was immediately evacuated and officers from Ephrata, Moses Lake, Grant County, Soap Lake, Quincy, Adams County and a tactical response team converged at the scene with what appeared to be long rifles.
After an investigation, it was determined that the peculiar call was a swatting attempt which is a false call intended to draw a large police response to a particular place. The store remained evacuated for 30 to 40 minutes until the all clear was given.
"This is absolutely disgusting. I was there with my 4 year old son and when I heard people screaming and running saying “run there’s a shooter” my heart dropped. I felt like I couldn’t carry my son and run out of there fast enough. The parking lot was crowded with people trying to get out of there. I was shaking and couldn’t find my car fast enough. This was truly traumatizing. Whoever did this I hope you are caught and have some serious consequences," Nohemi Richardson wrote on social media. Complete article

Lakewood police agents shoot and kill Colorado carjacking suspect after pursuit 05/08/2024
Police in Lakewood shot and killed a suspect on Wednesday morning. Investigators said it began with a menacing and carjacking call at the Walmart store located at 4th and Wadsworth.
Lakewood Police public information officer John Romero said staff inside the Walmart said that an adult male was threatening them with a gun about 10:20 a.m. The man ran away from the store without causing any physical injuries.
A short time later a woman was carjacked in the area of W. 4th Avenue and Zephyr Street. The victim told police that she was sitting in a minivan when an adult male pointed a gun at her and ordered her out of the minivan. The suspect then sped away in the stolen vehicle. His description matched that of the Walmart suspect.
Police began to look for the suspect and located the stolen minivan and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The suspect refused to stop and that's when officers began a pursuit. They continued to pursue the suspect to the off-ramp at 6th Avenue and Garrison in Lakewood when the pursuit ended with a crash.
Police said the suspect crashed the stolen minivan into a red SUV and the minivan ended up on the embankment on the side of 6th Avenue. Agents ordered the suspect out of the minivan but when he exited the vehicle, he pointed his gun at the agents.
That's when the agents shot and killed him. According to Lakewood police, six agents fired at the suspect. No one else was injured and there are no other suspects involved. A handgun was recovered at the scene. Complete article

Walmart shopper data will soon feed targeted ads on Disney Plus and Hulu 05/08/2024
The new Walmart and Disney deal will theoretically match users’ data without violating their privacy.
Advertisers can now use Walmart’s shopping data to target Disney’s streaming portfolio, which includes Disney Plus and Hulu, Adweek reports. The news comes after the companies announced a partnership between Disney Advertising and Walmart Connect, the retailer’s media business, on Wednesday.
As a part of the deal, Walmart advertisers will be able to match the retailer’s shopper data with Disney’s proprietary Audience Graph tools, helping them target audiences and measure data better. Datasets will be combined using clean-room technology so that — theoretically — user data can’t be shared with other external parties.
“Approximately 145 million customers shop with us online and in stores weekly,” Ryan Mayward, senior vice president of retail media sales for Walmart Connect, said in a statement. “Now, marketers will be able to apply those insights to their full-funnel campaigns to reach customers wherever they’re streaming Disney content.” Complete article

Product labels can be deceptive. While one may think they’re buying a product they know well, without carefully examining the label of each product, they might not actually be sure of what they’re getting or how much they’re really paying for it.
For example, “shrinkflation” has recently become a prominent topic of discussion, with internet users showing how products like Betty Crocker cake mix and Kraft Dinner now contain significantly less product than they did in years prior. .....
As the video continues, she points out that individual bottles of shampoo and conditioner are being sold at the store for $6.97 each. However, the “buy 2 and save” pack available right next to them is being sold at $18.97. Every bottle visible contains the same amount of product by volume.
Doing some quick math, the TikToker calculates that buying each of the bottles individually would result in a bill of $13.94; the “buy 2 and save” pack is $18.97, meaning that a customer would actually be spending over $5 more for the bundle. Complete article

ANTI-THEFT tactics adopted by retailers are seeing shoppers fight back with one revealing why he will not show his receipt.

‘You Should Get a Job!: White Man Joins Oregon Walmart Employees to Harass Black Man, Accuse Him of Stealing, Take Video of His License Plate and Threaten Him, Lawsuit Says 05/22/2024
A man is suing Walmart for racial discrimination after he says he was hounded by two employees in Oregon who accused him of stealing a vacuum he paid for in-store.
The Miami Herald reported on the lawsuit which recounted Ryan Redditt’s visit to a Walmart store in a Portland suburb last July.
As he left the self-checkout kiosk with his newly purchased vacuum and a receipt in hand, a store worker began yelling after him. Redditt, who is Black, left the store oblivious to the woman’s calls, thinking she was speaking to someone else, and didn’t realize that she and a security guard were following him out of the store.
“You’re going to jail, the police will be called!” the female worker yelled at Redditt, the complaint states.
The 46-year-old was caught completely unawares when they approached him at his car.
“You should get a job! Then you won’t have to steal,” the security guard told Redditt.
A white male, who doesn’t work at the story, also joined the workers. According to the complaint, he told Redditt, “I’m so tired of you,” while recording him and taking his pictures. He also threatened to “call the police,” and post about Redditt on social media “so everyone knows who you are.”
Reddit wasn’t sure if the white male was a vigilante who put him at risk. Complete article

It’s a great time in America to be a parasitic retailer. Walmart is reporting a strong first quarter this year, beating market estimates. It reported a 22 percent growth in e-commerce sales and a nearly 4 percent jump in transactions, and its first-quarter profit of $5.1 billion was triple last year’s, driven by $161.5 billion in revenue. Its stock rose on the news and hit an all-time high of $64 per share. Isn’t that nice?
As Jordyn Holman writes for the New York Times, Walmart’s growth comes in large part from “a focus on well-heeled shoppers.” She points out that, according to GlobalData, “over the past three years, households earning over $100,000 have provided the biggest gains in Walmart’s market share.” Complete article

Judge rules that Baton Rouge Walmart violated labor laws, must tell workers 05/22/2024
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — An administrative law judge ruled against Walmart after being accused of violating the National Labor Relations Act.
According to court documents, a Walmart location in Baton Rouge is accused of prohibiting an employee, Peter Naughton, from discussing disciplines with another employee. Naughton filed complaints on Aug. 24, 2023, and Sept. 6, 2023.
Court documents show Roderick Tucker and Christian Kador were Walmart supervisors at the time. Naughton reported to Tucker.
On Jan. 14, 2022, Naughton was called into a meeting with Tucker and Kador. Tucker gave Naughton written disciplinary action after he reportedly walked away from the cash register with the drawer on top of the register. Tucker requested that Naughton sign the written disciplinary form but he refused.
Also during the meeting, Tucker reportedly told Naughton he was not allowed to tell anyone about the meeting as it was against company policy and he could face more disciplinary action or termination.
Judge Donna Dawson ordered a cease and desist for Walmart from unlawful activities. She required that Walmart post a notice of employee rights at the Baton Rouge store for 60 days and for Walmart to send the notice to all current and former employees from Jan. 14, 2022. Complete article

Merrill employee exposes Walmart pension plan members 05/24/2024
An employee of Merrill, a division of Bank of America, made an email error that exposed nearly two thousand Walmart 401(k) Plan participants, revealing their personal data.
Sharing data via email can turn sour, as Merrill‘s recent data breach notification shows. Merrill, which functions as Bank of America‘s investment and wealth management division, exposed 1,883 individuals, likely employees of Walmart.
According to the breach notification letter that the bank submitted to the Maine Attorney General’s office, Merrill serves as a recordkeeper for Walmart 401(k) Retirement Plan. In the US, 401(k) serves as an employer sponsored personal pension savings account.
“On April 16th, 2024, a Merrill employee inadvertently disclosed personal information to an unauthorized recipient via an isolated email error. We became aware of this event on April 22nd, 2024,” Merrill said.

Editorial: Walmart hasn’t stopped pork suppliers from confining pregnant sows in cruel cages. Time for shareholders to step up 05/29/2024
For most pregnant pigs on big factory farms in the U.S., each four-month gestation is spent in a tiny crate. The sows can stand up but can’t turn around or take more than a couple of steps. Slats in the flooring allow waste to drop through but that doesn’t stop its ammonia smell from constantly enveloping them.
Sows stuck in these crates sometimes obsessively bite the metal bars and suffer from foot and leg disorders. After their pregnancy, the sows are put in farrowing crates where they nurse piglets for a few weeks. Then it’s back to the gestation crate for artificial insemination, and the whole process starts over again.
Constricting animals in cages is one of the cruelest practices in factory farming, which is also perpetrated on egg-laying hens and veal calves. Over the last 15 years, many of these animals have been freed from their cramped environs by state laws and ballot measures, such as Proposition 12 in California, driven by a growing consumer revulsion for food that comes from badly treated animals.
Since then, dozens of grocery retailers and food companies pledged to get sows out of crates. Nine years ago Walmart joined the chorus, asking its suppliers to get sows out of cramped cages as part of sweeping animal welfare guidelines.
The big box retailer accounts for about a quarter of grocery sales in the U.S. and this would have been a meaningful animal welfare move, but Walmart never mandated these changes or set benchmarks or deadlines for its suppliers. At the time, the editorial board worried that Walmart simply asking wouldn’t be enough to push suppliers to do the necessary retrofitting of farms and barns. Complete article

If Walmart accused you of shoplifting and stopped you on your way out after paying for what you bought, but they were wrong, what kind of case can you file against Walmart? 02/28/2024
I worked for Walmart as an Asset Protection manager several years ago and even back then that was a BIG deal. People would get fired for making bad stops all the time. If you are stopped and have in fact not shop lifted. Let them take you in the little room and when they ask you to give up the merch you allegedly stole always ask for a uniformed police officer to search you.
When they turn up nothing and cant prove to you or the officer you stole anything ask for a police report to be made. Don't take gift cards or anything don't sign anything. Ask the officer to write a report or give you an incident number. This way its documented Walmart cant just delete footage either.
Call a lawyer and have the lawyer contact Walmart and sue them. You if in fact are innocent you will get paid. Whose to say rumors wont start going around about you stealing maybe you are involved in the community your name has been tarnished. You are scared to go shopping now constantly looking over your shoulder. That is a real lawsuit all-day long. Walmart will change policies when things like this happen its actually a good thing.
Look up AP09 I know they have changed in since I've worked there it maybe called something else now. But if they broke their own rules you win. They have to be certain you stole like have you on video the whole time or had an employee never loose sight of you to even make the stop and pass the last point of sale aka the security scanners between the front door and the registers. We always had to wait for you to cross that line to stop. ONE LAST THING bad stop or not if you have been formally trespassed from any Walmart and were not supposed to be there in the 1st place you have no case. Yes people get trespassed from Walmart for stealing then get falsely accused of theft sometimes years later and don't have a leg to stand on for a bad stop. Also Walmart generally when threated with legal action will start offering like 5k-10K to settle but If I remember they will go all they way to 21K before actually going to court. but often times people still sue and win way more. Good Luck to ya!!! Complete article

‘This is the future’: Walmart shopper calls out store for putting so many new items behind glass case—including $2 items 05/27/2024
A Walmart customer is slamming upper management for putting items under lock and key and the employees she says are rolling their eyes and dragging their feet whenever she wants to purchase something. Victoria Damore (@toridamore) went on a 48-second rant she recorded from the interior of a Walmart’s cosmetics section, but there were several folks who responded to the video stating that her ire was misplaced: Thieves should be the ones getting called out, not store workers.
“This is the future of Walmart,” Damore says as she pushes her cart through an aisle of one of the popular retailer’s locations. There are locked, see-through shelves on each side of her, filled with products that can only be accessed with the assistance of employees (or anyone else who’s managed to get their hands on a key).
She detailed the reality of having to shop in such a way, explaining how it gets really old, really fast, while questioning the chain’s decision to keep low cost items under a lock and key, making a customer’s ability to simply walk into a store, grab an item, and be on their merry way impossible: “I can’t even walk into Walmart and pick up a nail file worth $1.50 because it’s locked up.”
Damore stated that this new retail experience doesn’t appear to just be a drag for consumers, but for store employees as well — and they aren’t shy about letting shoppers know how they really feel about having to be at their beck and call to open these glass lockers.
“And of course because it’s all locked up, there’s an employee waiting there to assist everybody that needs it to be unlocked. And he’s being rude to the customers that need assistance because it’s locked up. Like, it’s an inconvenience to him. Walmart, you can lock your [expletive] up, but it’s not the customer’s fault that you don’t stop people from stealing from you.”
After calling out the retailer, she added that the employee stationed in cosmetics section followed her around and every time she stopped to look at something in one of the security cabinets, he would sigh audibly, making her not want to shop at the store at all: “And the whole time I was in the cosmetics area, the employee was following me around, and every time I would stop to look at something, he would sigh, [shoots out a bit of breath] ‘Do you need me to get that for you?’ Like, sir, I don’t want it anymore, like I don’t wanna inconvenience you, sorry I need to shop.” Complete article

Walmart files show wrong prices charged at 1,600 stores for days 05/30/2024
(Bloomberg) — One evening in March — at 8:41 p.m. Chicago time to be exact — internal warnings flashed within Walmart Inc. about a curious thing happening at hundreds of its stores across the US.
Shoppers scanning certain items at self-checkout stands were seeing the wrong prices. Some prices were lower than listed. Others were higher.
Unbeknownst to those buying food, clothes, appliances and everything in between on March 19, Walmart had suffered an internal system failure that stopped price data from flowing to the self-checkout stands, according to documents seen by Bloomberg News. In total, the documents show, 1,600 stores were affected, resulting in widespread mispricing that has never before been reported.
Two days after the incident began, technology staff at America’s largest retailer were still trying to fix the issue, according to the documents. Complete article

Vigil held at Walmart: Memorial tribute for Area Barnett’s tragic death 05/30/2024
ATLANTA - Close friends and coworkers of 25-year-old Area Barnett, who was found shot to death by a movie crew earlier this month, gathered to honor her memory and call for justice on Thursday.
For the employees of the Walmart store on Cascade Road in Atlanta, the saying "coworkers are family" is more than just words. "That was my work child. She was a person where to know her was to love her," said one of her coworkers and friends, Shameeka Burns.
That’s why dozens of employees gathered at Walmart to release balloons in honor of their coworker and friend.
Barnett was found shot dead by a film crew at Collier and Hardwell roads near the Interstate 285 overpass on May 16.
That is where her close friends and coworkers moved the gathering to Thursday evening to continue honoring her.
