Can you imagine debating a group of people in a position of power that insist that two plus two equals seventeen? Or any other blatantly false claims are true and can't be challenged?
That's way to much like the current debate on the Israel war against Gaza, where large portions of history are ignored or denied to justify the mass murder of civilians including well over 6,000 children, which isn't the most up to date estimate.
How can there be any doubt that mass murder of thousands of children in response to October 7 is not "self defense?" This is what Israel and the majority of the American political establishment are claiming, directly or not!
Furthermore, there's a long history of oppression of the Palestinians going back at least 75 years, which Israel, the US government and mass media are all pretending never happened or has no relation to the October 7 attack, which although I don't support attacks against citizens by anyone, was far from unprovoked. But even if it were unprovoked the mass murder of civilians that had nothing to do with the Oct. 7 attack, which is what Israel is doing with the obviously false claim that this is "self-defense." The truth of the matter is that mass murder of innocents, which isn't something new for Israel, does far more to incite more resistance in the future, which is how they wound up in this situation in the first place.
According to the latest reasonably credible source, Israel-Hamas war updates: Al-Shifa Hospital ‘horror scene’ after siege 11/17/2023, there have been 18,787 Palestinians killed, including 7,729 children in Gaza since Oct. 7; another 297 killed, including 69 children in West Bank; and the death toll from the Oct. 7 attack on Israelis was downgraded to only 1,139, down from over 1,400, which Israel admits to. There have also been at least fifty to sixty journalists killed by Israel, which is unprecedented to kill so many journalists in such a short time and many more aid workers, including some from the U.N. or many non-governmental organizations. These claims all come from credible sources, and mainstream media doesn't deny this, although they rarely report on it at all, so many people may not be aware of it.
There are also numerous reports showing that many of the Israelis killed on Oct. 7 were actually killed by the Israeli Defense Forces in what they call "friendly fire," although there are no credible estimates about how many there were that weren't killed by Hamas. In a previous article on this subject, USA & Israel Are Intentionally Creating Permanent Conflict, Based on Lies!, I pointed out that Israel published the names of 767 of the Israelis killed that day, and that only 27 of them were children, which clearly contradicts the false claims that there were "40 babies killed and beheaded," some that may have been "put in ovens," yet there tally of people killed doesn't report this at all. Since then almost all the deaths were on the Palestinian side in Gaza and Hamas hasn't been able to strike within Israel again. At least on credible sources claims that the total number of children was actually 29, and there have been reports that at least two or three children hostages were killed but not much more. The credible sources that I found about those killed in Gaza made a point of saying that thousands more are missing and many of those may be buried under the rubble, not to mention the fact that the mass murder continues every day, so this number is expected to rise. Some estimates already put the death toll higher with some claiming over well twenty thousand were killed and over twelve thousand were children; even though I'm skeptical of these estimates, for now, the real toll could reach that high, or higher, within a few weeks.
That still isn't nearly as many as the number of children killed by Israel, not that I think any children should be killed by either side. This comes to a ratio of seventeen Palestinians killed by Israel for every one Israeli killed, and some of the Israelis were killed by friendly fire. And when you consider the ratio of children killed it's much worse, well over 250 children killed by Israel for every one Israeli child killed!
Yet there's little or no effort from mass media to put this in the proper perspective. They put much more attention on Israeli victims than Palestinian victims even though there are many more Palestinians and there's no doubt few of them were involved in the Oct. 7 attack, so killing them certainly isn't "self-defense." The media often shows video of Netanyahu claiming outrage because Hamas kills children justifying what he calls "self-defense" but they don't report the fact that for every one Israeli child killed Israel has killed over 250 children on orders from Netanyahu!
Who's the bigger child killer? How can this be in doubt?
Furthermore, the media hasn't reported a long history behind this conflict going back at least seventy-five years, when the Nakba happened, if not longer!
In fact, as I said, this conflict actually goes back at least seventy five years, to when Zionists stole massive amounts of land from Palestinians and killed or expelled them in what was the Nakba, if not another fifty years earlier, when Zionist like Theodor Herzl began planning it, although he didn't live to see it happen, or thousands of years if you want to count the complete historical background behind it. One of the most brazen things Israel has done, which hasn't been taught in most history classes or reported by traditional media, is the Nakba; one of the best documentaries about this that I know of is Tantura (2022), which includes testimony from numerous Israeli Jews, based mostly on the research of Teddy Katz.
This certainly isn't the only research into the subject, Ilan Pappe, who appears briefly in the documentary wrote "The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine" along with several other books on the subject, and other researchers have covered it as well, some that I'll list below, including books that can be read free online. There's an enormous list of links below, but I'll put the most important free books first where they're easy to find, especially the free ones. An abbreviated description of this is posted on A Wikipedia article: Tantura massacre, the general conclusion of this, and the documentary is that there was a massacre and an effort to cover it up, and even though the documentary isn't long enough to cover nearly all the evidence, it makes it clear that there's much more, and the judge who initially declined to enter the tapes into evidence, and settled for a retraction, which the documentary clearly indicates was under pressure, eventually listened to the tapes, and although she didn't reverse her rulings she said that after hearing the tapes that it was horrible and that he should have gone through with the trial instead of issuing a retraction, strongly implying she thought her initial rulings were wrong.
The documentary explains that Teddy Katz, who was named after Theodore Herzl, interviewed one hundred and thirty five people for a thesis in the nineties, half of them Jewish and half Arab, but most of the ones in the documentary were Jewish. He makes it clear that he had at least seven Jewish people confess to a massacre at Tantura, and gathered an enormous amount of additional evidence, even if most of the Jewish people he interviewed denied a massacre. He received a 97 grade for his thesis, and the academics aware of it, including Ilan Pappe, although he wasn't involved in the initial grading, thought it was an exceptional thesis. This changed in January 2000 when Israeli journalist Amir Gilat published an article about the events at Tantura in Ma'ariv and after another story was published in the Summer 2000 issue that year of Majallat al-Dirasat al-Filastiniyya as reported in both the documentary and the Wikipedia article.
The documentary explains that under pressure Katz reversed his claim that extrajudicial killings were committed after the surrender of the village, and the case was immediately closed, without reviewing the evidence, and they refused to reverse the ruling, which the Supreme Court also upheld, but as I indicated above, Judge Drora Pilpel implied she may have been mistaken and admitted that she thought that if he had the tapes and other evidence that he should have continued with the lawsuit, as indicated in her appearance in the documentary.
Related or not, there also seems to be a significant amount of censorship on Facebook, including a recent post below of mine that was deleted, which happens to be a photo of Ilan Pappe's book which was accompanied by a link to it and had nothing to do with an attempt to "to gather sensitive information, or shared malicious software," as they claim. This hasn't been the first time My posts have been censored for false claims, and other incidents involved criticism of Wall Street corporations or Israel.
The simple fact is that the Holocaust was caused by the German's, the Palestinians had nothing to do with it, but instead of taking out a vendetta against the German's after World War II they took out a vendetta against the Palestinians, and rewrote history, or ignored a large number of important facts to justify this and make themselves look like they had the higher moral ground. In fact there are numerous sources that claim that the Muslims treated the Jews far better than Christians which were relentlessly persecuting Jews for a thousand years, including Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss who explains this in this video 11/25/2023, another longer video Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss on Science, Religion, & War in Gaza 10/18/2023 provides more information from the same Rabbi, and Avi Shlaim, who is an Iraqi Jew and historian who has written several books on the subject, some listed below. Some defenders of Palestinians claim the Jews lived peacefully with Arabs with equal rights for hundreds, if not over a thousand years, and Avi Shlaim confirms this, for the most part, although he does acknowledge they had to pay a "poll tax" or other unfair practices, which were much less severe than the pogroms they faced in the Christian world which were often accompanied by terrorism and mass murder, leading up to the Holocaust.
Yet, for some reason they blamed the Arabs, perhaps because they just happened to be on the land that the Zionists coveted, so they made up a false historical context to justify stealing their land. Even Albert Einstein and many other Jews, well known or not recognized this. Albert Einstein indicated this in at least two letters written about the time Israel was established, including the following one to Henry J. Factor, which was written in 1946, before the establishment of Israel, and got much less attention than the second, although both were forgotten by the vast majority of the public:

Einstein seems to have thought that the Jews could have a safe homeland in Palestine living peacefully with the Arabs without stealing there land. It may not have been quite that easy, but it would have been far better than what did happen, including what he later called the "Freedom Party" which was "a political party closely akin in its organization, methods, political philosophy and social appeal to the Nazi and Fascist parties," as he indicated in a better known letter eh co-signed on December 2 1948 along with over two dozen other prominent Jews, including Hannah Arendt, as indicated in the text:

The public avowals of Begin's party are no guide whatever to its actual character. Today they speak of freedom, democracy and anti-imperialism, whereas until recently they openly preached the doctrine of the Fascist state. It is in its actions that the terrorist party betrays its real character; from its past actions we can judge what it may be expected to do in the future.
Attack on Arab Village
A shocking example was their behavior in the Arab village of Deir Yassin. This village, off the main roads and surrounded by Jewish lands, had taken no part in the war, and had even fought off Arab bands who wanted to use the village as their base. On April 9 (THE NEW YORK TIMES), terrorist bands attacked this peaceful village, which was not a military objective in the fighting, killed most of its inhabitants 240 men, women, and children and kept a few of them alive to parade as captives through the streets of Jerusalem. Most of the Jewish community was horrified at the deed, and the Jewish Agency sent a telegram of apology to King Abdullah of Trans-Jordan. But the terrorists, far from being ashamed of their act, were proud of this massacre, publicized it widely, and invited all the foreign correspondents present in the country to view the heaped corpses and the general havoc at Deir Yassin.
The Deir Yassin incident exemplifies the character and actions of the Freedom Party.
Within the Jewish community they have preached an admixture of ultranationalism, religious mysticism, and racial superiority. Like other Fascist parties they have been used to break strikes, and have themselves pressed for the destruction of free trade unions. In their stead they have proposed corporate unions on the Italian Fascist model.
During the last years of sporadic anti-British violence, the IZL and Stern groups inaugurated a reign of terror in the Palestine Jewish community. Teachers were beaten up for speaking against them, adults were shot for not letting their children join them. By gangster methods, beatings, window-smashing, and wide-spread robberies, the terrorists intimidated the population and exacted a heavy tribute.
The people of the Freedom Party have had no part in the constructive achievements in Palestine. They have reclaimed no land, built no settlements, and only detracted from the Jewish defense activity. Their much-publicized immigration endeavors were minute, and devoted mainly to bringing in Fascist compatriots.
Discrepancies Seen
The discrepancies between the bold claims now being made by Begin and his party, and their record of past performance in Palestine bear the imprint of no ordinary political party. This is the unmistakable stamp of a Fascist party for whom terrorism (against Jews, Arabs, and British alike), and misrepresentation are means, and a "Leader State" is the goal.
In the light of the foregoing considerations, it is imperative that the truth about Mr. Begin and his movement be made known in this country. It is all the more tragic that the top leadership of American Zionism has refused to campaign against Begin's efforts, or even to expose to its own constituents the dangers to Israel from support to Begin.
The undersigned therefore take this means of publicly presenting a few salient facts concerning Begin and his party; and of urging all concerned not to support this latest manifestation of fascism.

I have no doubt that many Americans would find these claims, including the fact that there are a significant number of people in Israel's government that are fascists, incredibly hard to believe, and twenty to thirty years ago I would have been one of them. There has been little or no effort to teach children about this in school, I certainly didn't learn anything like this in school, nor is this ever mentioned in traditional media that I know of. The letter from Einstein etal. only mentions one of dozens of massacres during the Nakba, estimates range from at least ten massacres up to seventy massacres, with the truth according to many sources, almost certainly closer to the higher number, with 15,000 killed, many of them innocent civilians. Of course the current death toll in just two and a half months is now higher than that, and the total number of displaced people is also higher than that.
They had a prime time mini-series, which many of us never forgot, called "The Holocaust," which was horrifying, of course, and for the most part, it appears reasonably accurate; but there was no follow up explaining the Nakba and I doubt very much if most people are aware of it, although people paying attention to social media since the war began are more likely to have learned about it, unless they're mostly friends with supporters of Israel or more concerned with sports and celebrities than current events.
These are only a fraction of the atrocities committed by Israel, including apartheid in the occupied territories for decades after the Nakba, especially after the 1967 war, and there were also, of course, many more atrocities in the wars since the Nakba, including the current one. One of those was described by Miko Peled in "The General's Son," which Miko finds out about later in life that changed his fathers life and may have led to him resigning from the military and becoming a peace activist. Miko Peled also claims that he was taught a false version of history and that even after he became a peace activist and started working with Arabs to repair relations when he herd their stories his initial response, on at least one occasion was to doubt the Arabs story, which he knew was false, and only remained silent to avoid arguing; but then after checking facts and reading several other books, concluded that the Arabs were right all along and the version of history he was taught was false. At the end of his book he talks abut how he met Abu Ali Shahin Fatah, who told him about a massacre he learned about from the 1967 war, where Israelis killed a over 30 civilian men of military age, between 13 and 86, after they surrendered, and lined them up and killed all of them, an obvious war crime.
Miko's father Matti Peled, who was a general and could speak Arabic, investigated this massacre and was outraged by it; he wrote a report on it, hoping to hold people accountable for it and sent it to Yitzhak Rabin and Haim Bar-Lev, but they did nothing, although Abu Ali believed that Matti Peled did everything he could to create justice, and they both concluded this was probably a major part of the reason he resigned from the military and became a peace activist and a scholar, throughout the rest of his life. By the time Miko heard this story his father was already dead, but he asked his mother about it and she confirmed it, and there's a written record of it somewhere. This is just one of many massacres during many different wars; but while the wars are ongoing they rarely get reported, and when they do most people only believe them if the other side committing the atrocities, when they need little or no evidence to convince them, even when it's a lie; but if it's their own side, many people refuse to believe the stories even when there's overwhelming evidence.
The same goes for obvious evidence of an Apartheid government in Israel, which traditional media rarely reminds the public about, despite overwhelming evidence of it. Both Ilan Pappe and Miko Peled have provided significant evidence showing that Israel is an Apartheid State in their books, and so has Jimmy Carter as he explains in this brief video from Democracy Now! or for this complete review or the transcript see the original article, Fmr. Pres. Jimmy Carter on Palestine, Iraq, Iran, Selling Weapons to Indonesia During the Occupation of East Timor & More 09/10/2007. This was while he was promoting his book "Peace Not Apartheid," which also provides an enormous amount of evidence showing that Israel is an apartheid state, yet the media doesn't cover this and often gives much more coverage to those defending Israel even when the facts are on their side. If you Google "Is Israel an Apartheid State?" you'll find many credible Human Rights sources claiming that it is, but this is mixed up with several articles presenting this claim as if it's only the opinion of these groups, and others totally denying it, despite overwhelming evidence.
There have been numerous stories about how Israel has been building long and massive walls in the West Bank to keep Palestinians in their place; they've been giving Jewish people preferential treatment when it comes to immigration since the Nakba, while denying Palestinians "The Right To Return," which many of them were promised when they were forced out of their lands during the Nakba or at various times since, and recently Israel passed 'nation state' law enshrining Jewish supremacy 07/19/2018 and apparently Natalie Portman, who is Jewish, admitted "it's racist" and that "it's wrong and I disagree with that;" and there's also apartheid schools according to Human Rights Watch: Second Class: Discrimination Against Palestinian Arab Children in Israel's Schools - Summary 2001. And of course there's more to it than that and the more I read from credible sources ignored by traditional media the more obvious it is; and the more obvious it is that we can't rely on mainstream media for our news or education.
Yet, even though Jimmy carter and many other critics of Apartheid are right the political establishment, traditional media, and other pro-Israel groups like the Anti-Defamation League often appear to be in total denial and often smear their critics as shown in numerous sources including Ganging Up on Jimmy Carter 01/11/2007 This article points out the fact that a large portion of the political establishment spoke out against him when he promoted his book "Peace Not Apartheid," even though they had no credible evidence to refute his claims, just self-riotous declarations; and the Anti-Defamation League even placed ads criticizing him, and their leader at the time, Abraham Foxman went so far as to call Carter "anti-Semitic. Their current leader, Jonathan Greenblatt also made similar comments about Jimmy Carter, also without evidence. The article goes on to say: Not to be outdone, Pelosi states: “It is wrong to suggest that the Jewish people would support a government in Israel or anywhere else that institutionalized ethnically based oppression, and Democrats reject that allegation vigorously. With all due respect to former President Carter, he does not speak for the Democratic Party on Israel.”
Jimmy Carter may not speak for the Democratic political establishment, but he's far closer to the truth than they are, and many Democratic voters are more likely to agree with him despite all the pro-Israel propaganda they've been fed. Current activities also show that the majority of the public doesn't agree with the political establishment on Israel; and in addition to that there's an enormous amount of evidence raising doubts about whether the "Anti-Defamation League" really is a civil rights group or opposed to defamation as their name claims. This evidence indicates they only oppose defamation against Zionists or Israel, but have no qualms about defaming their critics even when their critics have the facts on their side.
Another thing worth considering is what most civil rights organizations support, including, of course, Martin Luther King Jr., which is equal rights for all, and they oppose all form of racism, including against both Jews and Palestinians. When I Googled Martin Luther King Jr.s views on antisemitism, there wasn't much, and it includes some claims that his views were misrepresented; but he made a couple statements on the subject in this video Martin Luther King Jr on antisemitism, Israel [and anti-Catholicism] 03/29/2023, where he specifically opposes prejudice against both Jews and Catholics, which is consistent with his well known teachings.
As I said, when searching the internet there were claims that his views were misrepresented by both sides, perhaps the most notable example is an alleged [Wikipedia] Letter to an Anti-Zionist Friend, which apparently wasn't published in an August 1967 issue of Saturday Review, which was the alleged source, and it was also allegedly published in a book, "This I Believe" however there's no evidence to show this book ever existed, let alone the letter, and even supporters of Israel agree this was a hoax. This was also reported in Electronic Intifada: Israel’s apologists and the Martin Luther King Jr. hoax 01/18/2004 which essentially cites the same evidence as Wikipedia. This was reported as fact on several occasions between 1999, when the first known record of the letter appeared, and 2003, when Tim Wise debunked it; and apparently on some occasions even after it was debunked even by prominent figures or organizations that should have known better like the Anti-Defamation League, and Ariel Sharon. Even the people quoting it before 2003 could have and probably should have confirmed it.
Another quote pointed out in the Wikipedia article about the false letter was allegedly spoken shortly before Martin Luther King Jr.'s death where he allegedly said "Don't talk like that. When people criticize Zionists, they mean Jews. You're talking anti-Semitism." It's tough to tell whether this can be confirmed or refuted. The article from the Electronic Intifada above claims it first appeared in Encounter by Seymour Martin Lipset, who the Intifada refers to as a "right-wing and ardently pro-Israeli sociologist," which is partly confirmed by the Wikipedia article on him, but the quote didn't appear again until a 2002 op-ed by John Lewis, mentioned by both the Wikipedia and Intifada articles. Why did it take so long for someone to repeat it? I can't rule this quote out, but I do consider it inconclusive at best, and furthermore, there is at least one source that raises opposing views, and they may be partly confirmed by more credible sources, including a TV appearance on June 18, when King appeared on the ABC Sunday interview program “Issues and Answers,” as well as a New York Times article Time to Break the Silence on Palestine 01/19/2019 which says:
Martin Luther King Jr. courageously spoke out about the Vietnam War. We must do the same when it comes to this grave injustice of our time. .....
Ultimately, King canceled a pilgrimage to Israel in 1967 after Israel captured the West Bank. During a phone call about the visit with his advisers, he said, “I just think that if I go, the Arab world, and of course Africa and Asia for that matter, would interpret this as endorsing everything that Israel has done, and I do have questions of doubt.” .....
Fortunately, people like the Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II are leading by example, pledging allegiance to the fight against Antisemitism while also demonstrating unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people struggling to survive under Israeli occupation.
He declared in a riveting speech last year that we cannot talk about justice without addressing the displacement of native peoples, the systemic racism of colonialism and the injustice of government repression. In the same breath he said: “I want to say, as clearly as I know how, that the humanity and the dignity of any person or people cannot in any way diminish the humanity and dignity of another person or another people. To hold fast to the image of God in every person is to insist that the Palestinian child is as precious as the Jewish child.”
The quote from Rev. Barber isn't in doubt, and he could confirm it if necessary; but regardless of the source, who would doubt that "the Palestinian child is as precious as the Jewish child?” Jewish Voices for Peace, If not Now When, and many other civil rights organizations certainly wouldn't doubt it, yet Israel and the ADL seem to doubt it, otherwise they wouldn't criticize these civil rights organizations for defending Palestinian rights as well as all other rights. The quote about Martin Luther King Jr. having doubts isn't repeated widely anymore than his previous quote, but the NYT source seems more credible than the sources for the opposing quote and it was confirmed by Martin Luther King Jr.’s Pilgrimage to Israel That Never Was 01/15/2017 and Why Martin Luther King never visited Israel 01/13/2013 both which add additional detail that also seems more credible than the opposing quote, but most importantly in a follow to the first article in 2016 In the Words of Martin Luther King Jr. by Martin Kramer which also covers the subject, and if you want to confirm that Martin Luther King Jr. did make the following quote it was on the ABC Sunday interview program “Issues and Answers,” on June 18 1967, so if there's any doubt it can be confirmed:

As I said this should be relatively easy to confirm, and for a while the transcripts were posted on The King Center, but unfortunately it was taken down and only part of the transcript remains on the Internet Archive Martin Luther King Jr. ABC Sunday interview program “Issues and Answers,” on June 18 1967, and I found a video of it with the Transcript for Martin Luther King Jr. talks 'Issue and Answers' on ABC in 1967, but it appears to incomplete and doesn't match the archived transcript for some reason, but I doubt Martin Kramer fabricated it. Nevertheless there's no doubt that Martin Luther King Jr. and many other modern civil right organizations would agree with Rev. Barber when he said "the Palestinian child is as precious as the Jewish child.” Martin Luther King's daughter also indicated she supported a cease-fire and had no doubt that her father would also do so when responding to Amy Schumer, who made many controversial and even racist comments, including support for Israel's actions as partly explained in Bernice King Corrects Amy Schumer Over MLK Social Media Post: “He Would Call for Israel’s Bombing of Palestinians to Cease” 10/31/2023
The opposition to mass murder of thousands of children who had nothing to do with Oct. 7, along with many other civilians, and displacement of two million Palestinians should no doubt be considered good civil rights positions; yet, Israel and there allies, including the ADL, a supposed civil rights organization oppose it and often demonize critics of Israel, which is apparently nothing new, although it wasn't until recently that I learned how bad they are, even though the first I heard of this was a brief conversation back in the 1990s. Progressive civil rights organizations have known this for a long time, as indicated in Open letter to progressives: The ADL is not an ally, which was first posted in 2018, on Wordpress, before getting their own domain name in 2020, and recruiting at least six dozen major co-signers, and perhaps hundreds more smaller ones; although some of these organizations learned about the tactics of the ADL decades before that. In a Primer paper or web page they outline a long and shocking history of problems with the ADL including the following excerpts, but you should read the whole page, and at least spot check some of their sources, of which they have many:
Repressing Palestinian rights, smearing critics of colonialism as “anti-Semites”
While presenting itself as “the premier civil rights group” in the United States, the ADL has built a major, less-publicized role in advancing pro-Israel US foreign policy and repressing the movement for Palestinian rights. Since the 1950s, the ADL has leveraged its strong media operation and its relationships with lawmakers both to quash Arab American community efforts to participate in US politics, and to defend Israel from widespread criticism of its system of segregation and apartheid, mass incarceration, racial profiling, torture (including of children), political repression, and war crimes. Israel controls Palestinians’ land and water; whether they can access employment, universities, or medical treatment; and whom they can marry; to name but a few examples of its system that South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu and other anti-Apartheid icons have called “worse than apartheid.” Israel’s regime has been condemned by more than 60 United Nations resolutions (example), the International Court of Justice, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and hundreds of others. Israel uses Palestinian areas as a lab for field-testing “innovative” policing methods and weaponry before exporting them to other security forces.
The ADL blacklists organizations criticizing Israel’s separate and unequal system, particularly those linking oppression in the US and Palestine. It targets Black, Muslim, and Arab organizers as anti-Semites, suggesting that their links to anti-racist, anti-colonial movements (which have long challenged Israel) are links to “hate.” It also specifically smears Jewish organizers who contest the ADL’s claim to represent Jewish interests and safety. In smearing activists, the ADL calls “anti-Semitic” any discussion of the influence of Zionist institutions in US politics; of links between US political donors and Israel’s lucrative military and tech sectors; and of the well-documented sympathies between US and Israeli racial supremacist forces. The ADL uses its platform as an advocate for “rights” to demonize the “Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions” (BDS) movement to end international complicity in the abuse of Palestinian rights by boycotting institutions that normalize or support Israel’s subjugation of Palestinians. BDS is a campaign that aims to achieve freedom, justice, and equality through popular, nonviolent tactics used to achieve social change in South Africa and throughout history.
The ADL’s abuse of the term anti-Semitism not only muzzles legitimate criticism of injustices perpetrated by Israel, but it communicates a dangerous message that all Jews share the same views — a central tenet of traditional anti-Semitism — and implies that there is something Jewish about military occupation (and by extension, that boycotting occupation is boycotting Jews). Furthermore, it detracts from naming and fighting the very real and present acts of anti-Semitism. .....
Islamophobia/Anti-Muslim Racism & Anti-Arab Racism
Across the ADL’s efforts to undermine leftist/progressive movements and critiques of Israel as a racialized geopolitical force, it has consistently worked to make Islamophobia (also described as anti-Muslim racism) a liberal value in the United States. The ADL has also vilified Arab people and communities, particularly when they have organized as a US constituency and/or an anti-colonial voice in global politics.
Virtually all of the ADL’s projects have contributed to normalizing Islamophobia/anti-Muslim racism & anti-Arab racism.
The ADL has consistently worked to shut down Arab American and Muslim community organizing and distance those communities from their elected representatives. This has included a long history of portraying Arab Americans as agents of various foreign agendas rather than an American constituency.
The ADL has built a role as a prominent voice on civil rights, and used that position to portray Israel and Zionism as “Jews’ civil rights struggle.” That equation makes Jewish rights seem tied to Israeli colonial conquest, and rationalizes Israel’s anti-Palestinian, anti-Arab, and anti-Muslim racism as a “civil rights” position. At the same time, the ADL has promoted blatantly false information about Islam, Muslims in the Middle East, and the aims of Palestinian rights movements. Such disinformation provocatively suggests that Islamophobia is necessary for Jewish safety. It suggests that only irrational, “hateful” people (lumped together as “Muslims” or “Arabs”) object to Israeli colonialism — erasing the objections to violence, colonization, and racism that keep Palestine a core part of global human rights efforts. ..... The ADL’s repressive practices have targeted student organizations and faculty members who teach, write, or advocate on Palestine. The ADL often works on the same campaigns and attacked the same community groups and individuals as overtly right-wing organizations like Campus Watch and AMCHA. In some cases, the ADL’s advocacy has been successful in shutting down discussion of Palestinian rights by falsely portraying it as a violation of Jewish students’ rights. In others, it has validated groups orchestrating vicious, online smear campaigns like Canary Mission that impose high, career-long costs on students and faculty talking and teaching about Palestine, preventing students from getting jobs in the future and threatening academics’ entire careers. The combined impact of these campaigns is to dramatically chill academic freedom and speech on campus, and the effects are felt particularly by students and faculty from marginalized communities.
The ADL has sought to prevent students and faculty from studying Palestinian perspectives and legal analysis of Israeli policies, labeling such study “anti-Semitic” and seeking to characterize it as outside the bounds of academic freedom. For instance, in 2009, the ADL targeted a University of California at Santa Barbara professor who assigned readings critical of Israel’s occupation of the West Bank and military assaults on Gaza. The ADL met with university officials to press them to open an investigation into the professor and helped two students craft complaints that he had “assigned anti-Semitic material unrelated to the course.” The university eventually dismissed the case, though it consumed many resources and sent a warning to other academics about what they might face if they raised the topic in their classrooms.
In another instance, the ADL and other groups pressured University of California at Hastings Law School to cancel a 2011 conference on legal avenues for pursuing Palestinian rights. They organized alumni to threaten to pull future donations if the university did not comply. The university ultimately withdrew funding for the conference, over the objections of nearly all of its tenured faculty and student government.
The ADL’s repression of students’ political activities has often targeted Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), a group with hundreds of chapters nationwide led predominantly by students of color. For example, in 2013 the ADL campaigned to punish students at Florida Atlantic University. There, one student interrupted a talk by Israeli Colonel Bentzi Gruber, who has been accused of war crimes, while the other students silently walked out of the room. After the ADL intervened to demand the university take action against the protesters, two students were placed on indefinite probation and required to attend a diversity training facilitated by the ADL itself. Although the students expressed that it was degrading and even abusive to be forced to attend a training on tolerance from an organization repressing their political protest, they were told that if they did not attend the ADL’s tolerance training, they would be suspended or expelled.
Recent events show that the ADL has become even more extreme since the October 7 attack, including total denial of the Nakba, constant occupation since then, the recent war killing over twenty thousand civilians, including well over seven thousand children with the most recent estimates even higher, who had nothing to do with the Oct. 7 attack, and they have equated the mass murder of innocence with "self-defense!" Or perhaps their attitude and tactics have just become more obvious and harder to ignore.
Imagine if Jonathan Greenblatt or any other supporter of Israel's bombing of civilians, both during the current war and many previous wars, were to come right out and say "If you don't support the mass murder of children that had nothing to do with the Oct. 7 attack you're an Anti-Semite and part of a hate group?" He didn't quite phrase it this way, of course, that would be too obvious; but he came surprisingly close.
I pointed out a month and a half ago that Jonathan Greenblatt has virtually declared that anyone who opposes mass murder of children who were not involved in the Oct. 7 attack, including many Jews, to be part of a "Hate group" and shut off comments so sane voices can't reply! 11/16/2023 Jonathan Greenblatt:

Let’s get a few things straight:
1. Israel does not occupy Gaza – Hamas does.

3. These radical far-left groups don't represent the Jewish community. Far from it. They represent the ugly core of anti-Zionism —> antisemitism.
Before I get to my own reply here is the reply from Jewish Voices for Peace, which I recommend you read entirely, Understanding and dismantling antisemitism. 11/16/2023 which says, among other things: After JVP and other groups led a sit-in inside a Capitol building last month — part of the largest Jewish-led protest in solidarity with Palestinians in U.S. history — ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt called us a “hate group” and the “photo inverse of white supremacists.”
Perhaps a more important question is "Who in their right mind can" possibly believe that mass murder of civilians including well over seven thousand children is self defense; or even though I don't agree with the Oct. 7 attack "Who in their right mind can" possibly believe that it was "unprovoked" after the Nakba decades of oppression, and semi-routine bombing campaigns killing many civilians long before Oct. 7 and continuing in recent years, including some bombing campaigns in Gaza in 2021, 2022, and spring of 2023.
As for the claim that "Israel does not occupy Gaza – Hamas does," this is at best misleading, at worst an outright lie. Israel has occupied Gaza for decades in the past, and they kept a major amount of control over Gaza since they supposedly pulled out, including control of everything going in or out of Gaza either through Israel or by sea, limiting them to a small stretch with Egypt to their south to trade with the outside world, and Israel almost always has partial control of that as well, with or without cooperation from Egypt, and by the time he posted this they have completely cut Gaza off from the outside world and several leading Israeli officials admitted this, starving them or preventing them from getting medical supplies and much more.
As for the claim that "anti-Zionism —> antisemitism" that has never been true as should be obvious by the fact that there are numerous Jewish groups, including JVP, that have opposed Zionism for decades; and before the establishment of Israel Zionists were always a small minority of Jews, and although I don't have access to credible statistics, they may still be a clear majority. Zionists claim they represent all Jews, but the clear obvious fact that there are so many Jews opposing Zionism and the Israel state proves this is false, even if they're not a majority they're still a significant percentage of Jews. Furthermore, there are also some Zionists, or ex-Zionists that oppose the extreme actions of Israel including Miko Peled, Gabor Mate, and many others; and there are even some members of the ADL that oppose the leaderships rigid opposition to Jewish groups opposing Israel as indicated in ADL Staffers Dissented After CEO Compared Palestinian Rights Groups to Right-Wing Extremists, Leaked Audio Reveals 03/08/2023
As for the claim that their critics should "Stop with the absurd accusation that Israel commits acts of genocide. It’s factually incorrect & dangerous slander," there is at a minimum, major doubts about this, but even if it doesn't quite fit the definition of genocide, it comes close and Israel is definitely committing mass murder of civilians that hand nothing to do with Oct. 7, which could be an "act of genocide," and it's hard to deny that in addition to mass murder of innocents they're committing ethnic cleansing. As for genocide, the simple definition is "the deliberate killing of a large number of people from a particular nation or ethnic group with the aim of destroying that nation or group," and as of the end of Dec. they have killed more than one percent of the Gazan population, and devastated the rest of the country displacing almost everyone.
Furthermore, one important issue is intent when deciding whether it's actually genocide; and the Zionists have hardly even hidden their intent as shown in many quotes strongly indicating they do want to wipe out Palestinians, many of these quotes came long before the Oct. 7 attack, and many more came after it. These quotes and videos reflect the views of a large percentage of Israelis, but fortunately far from all Jews. Ronnie Barkan and many other Israeli Jews, especially among the Orthodox Jews, have opposed many of these racist views and occupation of Palestine territories. I don't have reliable statistics to show how many Israelis are racist and how many speak out against it, and I suspect it would be difficult to estimate them reliably; but unfortunately, in Israel my impression is they're mostly Zionists and racists. Fortunately I suspect the opposite is true outside of Israel. Miko Peled hasn't directly tried to estimate this either, that I know of; but in his book he indicated that it was easier to discuss the issues with both Palestinians and Israelis among the immigrants in America, where he has been part of at least one group trying to reconcile their differences.
I'm not aware of credible statistics to estimate the Anti-Zionists, or other Jews who have legitimate concerns about occupation or mass murder of innocent civilians, in America, verses the Zionists who support current activities without question; however, my best guess is that there have been far more protests against the bombing or Palestine, often led by Jewish groups, than protests supporting Israel and opposing a ceasefire. This is despite the biased coverage from traditional media. Before the well coordinated and financed March for Israel in Washington there were many more protests calling for a ceasefire all around the country. Furthermore, it was exposed that some students were paid to attend, or at least given free transportation, which to the best of my knowledge didn't happen for opposition protests. Furthermore, there is good reason to believe they distorted the crowd size with many media outlets claiming there were 290,000 people there, despite pictures of the crowd that don't support this claim. And, protests for a ceasefire have continued long after that protest, even though the media doesn't cover it; which leads me to believe that there's probably a lot more people, including Jews, opposing the mass murder of Palestinians than supporting it.
Another major question is why are there so many people in Israel that support such and absurd and cruel government and occupation? There's some evidence to indicate they teach this hate from an early age, even in school, much like a cult, even if most people don't agree with that term. One shocking video posted on line that supports this conclusion shows an Israeli School teaching little kids to hate Palestinians. This needs to be condemned. This will create violence. 05/19/2021 This video was posted years before the Oct. 7 attack, yet it shows that they're teaching kids to expect a war and support the take over of all Palestinian land, at one point one of the children says "There will be Arabs, but they will be slaves." The video, which everyone should watch in it's entirety, shows four adult teachers asking questions from young students who reply with racist views that the teachers don't discourage, and at the end they commend the children for those views; the clear implication is that they've been teaching that kind of attitude all along.
Another video that was made after the Oct. 7 attack may have been even more shocking and glorifies murder and even genocide, even though they don't use that word, as shown in Electronic Intifida: Watch: Israeli children sing, “We will annihilate everyone” in Gaza 11/19/2023 This video is of six or seven school children, mostly girls, singing about the destruction of Gaza and how they'll kill or expel everyone, destroy all their property and take over the land. The original video produced by an extremist Israeli public relations firm, apparently with the help of teachers of the children, was taken down quickly because of widespread outrage, although they don't admit this was their reason. Electronic Intifada saved a copy, reported it, and created an English translation along with lyrics in their article, which includes the statements, "Within a year we will annihilate everyone" and "Love sanctified with blood."
What they teach their children clearly should shock everyone, as well as add to evidence that this could be a genocide, or at least that the claim can't be dismissed out of hand. We shouldn't need experts to tell us this, but there are experts that do tell us, including Raz Segal who wrote A Textbook Case of Genocide 10/13/2023 which says "Israel has been explicit about what it’s carrying out in Gaza. Why isn’t the world listening?" and this was followed up by an interview on Democracy Now!, “A Textbook Case of Genocide”: Israeli Holocaust Scholar Raz Segal Decries Israel’s Assault on Gaza 10/16/2023 When searching for more experts to demonstrate that it is or isn't genocide there are plenty more with good arguments to support the claim that, at a minimum, this is ethnic cleansing, but genocide is more likely; however, in all fairness, there are others in total denial, and they claim to have experts on their side, so it's important to read experts from both sides and judge for yourself.
Miko Peled's family also indicated they refuse to accept property stolen from Palestinians saying they didn't want to do the same thing to others that was done to them, showing this wasn't a unique choice. The Peled's weren't living in a tent, but they weren't living a lavish lifestyle either and were struggling financially. One of the witnesses on the Tauntura video admitted they accepted stolen property, although they had their regrets about it.
