"A lie repeated often enough becomes the truth," or at least it seems to, especially if it's not challenged by others reporting on the truth!
If not for this fundamental principle of propaganda, there's no way Joe Biden would be leading in the polls!
His entire image is based on puff coverage of his career giving the vast majority of the public the wrong impression of him. I knew that his record wasn't nearly as good as the media implies it was, but until I started checking it I didn't realize just how bad it was.
Edit 05/03/2019: I've updated this below adding many more news stories, old and new, that were circulating after he announced his campaign, including information exposing propaganda surrounding his campaign and the so-called surge in the polls according to CNN, which was reported widely, but the details behind the poll indicates that they only polled older people.
It also includes a report that discloses the fact that the Firefighters union that endorsed him as he kicked off his campaign was never put to a vote by the rank and file. While the mainstream media was providing mostly positive propaganda his full record was being exposed on line, and few people can possibly keep track of it all.
It's hard to imagine what they were thinking; can't they come up with a better puppet to pretend to represent the working class?
A major part of the problem is that the vast majority of the public probably gets their information from television, which repeats the propaganda of many candidates over and over again, while only reporting part of the scandals, which is often reported in more detail in either the internet, or print news. For many of us who keep up with alternative media outlets or don't let news articles exposing epidemic levels of fraud by candidates supported by the political establishment fall down the memory hole, it's hard to understand how so many people could possibly like establishment candidates like Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Beto O'Rourke, Hillary Clinton, or many other democrats with close ties to Wall Street that only come up with progressive rhetoric.
But once you consider how they get their news, through television, which is full of hype and distraction, then it's far more understandable.
The political establishment has been studying this for years, which is what many of these polls and focus groups are designed to do; however most of their research is considered "proprietary," which means secrecy about how they study to manipulate voters is protected by law, instead of passing disclosure laws, so the public can learn how they're being manipulated.
Thids problem isn't limited to African Americans, who supposedly support Biden according to polls, but the following article demonstrates a major example:
Will Black Voters Still Love Biden When They Remember Who He Was? 03/12/2019
Joe Biden once called state-mandated school integration “the most racist concept you can come up with,” and Barack Obama “the first sort of mainstream African American who is articulate and bright and clean.” He was a staunch opponent of “forced busing” in the 1970s, and leading crusader for mass incarceration throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s. Uncle Joe has described African-American felons as “predators” too sociopathic to rehabilitate — and white supremacist senators as his friends.
And, as of this writing, a plurality of black Democrats want him to be their party’s 2020 nominee.
Whether Biden can retain that support, after voters learn more about his problematic past, could very well determine the outcome of the party’s primary race. To explore that question, let’s pick through the former vice-president’s hefty baggage on racial justice — and then, the case for thinking that Obama’s halo will prove to be brighter than the shadow of Biden’s record is dark. Biden helped kill the most effective policy for improving black educational attainment that America has ever known.
Joe Biden was for desegregating America’s schools, until his constituents were against it. When the Delaware Democrat launched his first campaign for the Senate in 1972, the Supreme Court had just ruled that the Constitution required policymakers to pursue “the greatest possible degree of actual desegregation” — and that forcing white students to attend schools in black neighborhoods, and vice versa, was a legitimate means of doing so. Being an enlightened liberal, Biden began his candidacy as an advocate for such policies. He accused Republicans of demagoguing the busing issue, and appealing to white voters’ ugliest instincts.
But as his campaign progressed, and Biden discerned that the arc of history was bending toward white backlash, the young candidate bent with it. He became a caricature of a white northern liberal — arguing that forced busing was appropriate for the South (where segregation was the product of racist laws), but unnecessary for the North (where, Biden pretended, it merely reflected the preferences of the white and black communities). Additional sources about his past include Letters from Joe Biden reveal how he sought support of segregationists in fight against busing 04/11/2019 and that Joe Biden once said Democrats needed 'a liberal George Wallace' 02/07/2019, where he said, '"I think the Democratic Party could stand a liberal George Wallace — someone who's not afraid to stand up and offend people, someone who wouldn't pander but would say what the American people know in their gut is right,” Biden told the Philadelphia Enquirer on Oct. 12, 1975, referring to the racist then-Alabama governor. During 1987 fundraising trips across the South for his unsuccessful 1988 presidential bid, he sought to appeal to white voters, telling audiences that he had received an award from Wallace in 1973 and that the segregationist had lauded him as "one of the outstanding young politicians of America."'
This is just a small sample of a long history of flip flopping on many issues throughout his career; however instead of reminding the majority of the public about this the mainstream media has been providing him with an enormous amount of positive propaganda, either about how his son Beau wanted him to run saying he's what the country needed or his folksy speeches appealing to emotions, even saying that he'd like to "beat the hell out of" President Donald Trump if they were in high school.
Unfortunately the mainstream television media is far more concerned with appeals to emotion and coming up with entertainment than fact checking the vast majority of the news. If they had done more fact checking they would have done more than a few brief clips about how "some people might be concerned with his support for the 1994 crime bill without reminding the public about many if any of the details, including the following article by Paste Magazine and the original debate on the Senate floor from late 1993:
Joe Biden's 1993 Crime Bill Speech Is Worse Than You Think 03/08/2019
“We have predators on our streets that society has in fact, in part because of its neglect, created…they are beyond the pale many of those people, beyond the pale. And it's a sad commentary on society. We have no choice but to take them out of society….a cadre of young people, tens of thousands of them, born out of wedlock, without parents, without supervision, without any structure, without any conscience developing because they literally … because they literally have not been socialized, they literally have not had an opportunity….we should focus on them now….if we don't, they will, or a portion of them, will become the predators 15 years from now.”
“The consensus is A), we must take back the streets. It doesn't matter whether or not the person that is accosting your son or daughter or my son or daughter, my wife, your husband, my mother, your parents, it doesn't matter whether or not they were deprived as a youth. It doesn't matter whether or not they had no background that enabled them to become socialized into the fabric of society. It doesn't matter whether or not they're the victims of society. The end result is they're about to knock my mother on the head with a lead pipe, shoot my sister, beat up my wife, take on my sons.” .....

Original debate on C-Span with video and transcript 11/18/1993
Joe Biden exaggerates the threat to many of the people that were locked up as a result of this bill, especially the non-violent drug offenders; however there are still many violent offenders that do have to be dealt with, even in those cases he still misrepresents the facts, since it's not his family they're typically coming after, it's the people that live in the poor abandoned cities where the highest crime rates are! He clearly seems to admit that some of the problems are a result of abusive upbringing and that some of the social causes are a result of lack of educational or job opportunities; but instead of trying to improve education, prevent child abuse causing these predators from becoming violent or providing more economic opportunities that will help reduce violence he says repeatedly it "doesn't matter!"
At least it doesn't matter when the people committing these crimes are from poor working class people.
However his record, along with the record of many other wealthy people, including Biden's own family clearly indicates that doesn't apply to them when they get caught with drug crimes or pedophilia among other things.
I went into some of this more in Democrats do a bad job on crime; Republicans and the Media are worse!! which explained how some of the highest murder rates are in states controlled by Republicans, but instead of trying to support policies that the GOP have been pushing contributing to these high crime rates, Democrats like Joe Bide, Bill Clinton and Kamala Harris push "get tough on crime" policies that have proven not to work; I followed this up with Politicians increase crime; Grass roots efforts reduce crime; Politicians steal the credit which shows that when people at the local level learn from the best research, despite lack of reporting on the subject from the mainstream media and help from the political establishment, they do a much better job addressing the social needs of their communities by preventing abuse early, improving educational and economic opportunities etc.
However this get tough on crime talk clearly doesn't apply to his own family or people with political ties to him; his son Robert Hunter Biden received preferential treatment to get fast tracked in a "program that allows civilians with no prior service to receive a limited duty officer's commission after attending a two-week class covering topics such as military history, etiquette, and drill and ceremony, in lieu of boot camp. Because Biden was past the cut-off age for the program, he needed a waiver. Biden received a second waiver because of a past drug-related incident." (Wikipedia) News of his discharge was withheld from the public, until it was leaked.
In 2016 when he was considering running for president, the media provided obsession coverage about how his son Beau, who had died of cancer, wanted him to run for president, without covering an enormous amount of baggage from his political record that had plenty of appeals to emotion; however, even Beau was also involved in the same political favoritism that was routine for his father, getting an enormous amount of credit for prosecuting Earl Bradley which got an enormous amount of media coverage for him at the time; but when it came to prosecuting Robert Richards IV, a DuPont heir, with political ties, he recommended no jail time for raping his own daughter, and the judge justifiable this by saying he would "not fare well" in prison; which is an excuse that Joe Biden, Beau and many other get tough on crime politicians or judges would never take seriously when it comes to working class people, even when being prosecuted for non-violent drug offences, some only for marijuana.
His son Hunter Biden is also part of a "shady private equity firm" with John Kerry's stepson and on the board of a Ukrainian firm that was responsible for $1.8 Billion in missing aid money; and his brother is using his family ties to push charter schools despite their horrendous record.
There should be no doubt that Joe Biden's reputation as a "champion of the working class" is based entirely on propaganda and speeches with emotional appeals, not his policies which aren't much if any better than the Republicans!
Biden has a history of flattering Republicans like George Wallace or Phil Gramm, who wants to "grab them by the throat and not let them go to get a better grip," meaning only the working class, often minorities, not members of the wealthy ruling class, but does nothing to address the concerns of the vast majority of the public, except put on a big show which the media is willing to help with.
And the list of positions that turned out to be disastrous is much longer than that including his vote to support the Iraq war, repeal Glass-Steagall, deny protections for student loans even if they bail out large corporations that crashed the economy, depriving people of protection from corporate price fixing, supporting trade deals that drive down wages, increasing poverty and indirectly contributing to crime, and instead of asking the rich to pay their fair share he called for an increase to the retirement age; although he often does come up with some rhetoric demonizing the rich, he just never follows through with it with action, unless he has no choice due to an enormous amount of political pressure and even then he keeps it to a minimum!
His entire reputation is based on lies, and a minimal amount of fact checking should cause it to fall apart; the only question is will the mainstream media do that minimal amount of fact checking.
If Past is prologue they might very briefly before allowing massive amounts of propaganda to distract the public!
Joe Biden Gets Quick Endorsement From Firefighters Union 04/29/2019 The firefighters union does not determine its candidate of choice by a member vote; as with most other unions, the group’s executive leadership decides on the endorsement and its timing.
This follows a pattern of behavior that began no later than 2016 when a large number of so-called union leaders supported Hillary Clinton, but the rank and file preferred Bernie Sanders. In many cases the leaders responded by declining to put it to a vote for the rank and file and remained neutral. But there were some exceptions on both sides, with some leaders endorsing Hillary despite preference from the workers, and others recognizing the will of the majority and endorsing Bernie.
Pat the Berner "This is absurd. CNN's poll showing a "huge bump" for Biden didn't poll people under 50 (or not enough to factor in). Biden has next to no support under 50 and millennials are the biggest voting bloc in 2020. This is effectively CNN lying to the public. Look at the data yourself:" 04/30/2019
Pat the Berner was right, this is absurd, so absurd it's hard to believe they would do something so obvious; so I had to check for sources before posting it, and it's true regardless of why. Apparently one pundit briefly mentioned this on MSNBC but the vast majority of the mainstream media has been silent on this while the rigging of this poll has gone viral on social media, showing how little credibility CNN has; and other articles raise major doubts about other outlets including MSNBC who's CEO hosted a major fund raiser for Biden on his first day and they've demonstrated obvious bias to anyone paying attention!
CNN Poll April 25, 2019 to April 28, 2019 showing all people polled over 45 or 49 years old, which is where Biden is expected to do much better, while Bernie supporters are much younger, clearly misleading public.
Recent Poll Showing Biden in Lead Confuses and Distorts Support for Bernie Sanders 04/30/2019
.@cnn's presidential "poll" showing @JoeBiden crushing @BernieSanders is a COMPLETE SCAM. N/A is listed for age groups 18-34 and 35-49. N/A means not applicable because statistically not a large enough sample of Dems/Dem-leaning independents for those age groups were polled...1/1 04/30/2019
The following are some additional sources for this article; following the sources I collected with this update there's may be a significant amount of redundancy, perhaps with a few articles repeated from the same source; I'll try to reduce this soon, but it's good to have a consolidated source of many articles to check, although I'm sure there'll be more, some that I may not be able to keep up with:

Joe Biden Isn’t the Answer 03/29/2019
A young Joe Biden was reliably anti-abortion, claiming that Roe v. Wade “went too far” and that he did not believe that “a woman has the sole right to say what should happen to her body.” He voted consistently for the Hyde Amendment, the 1976 legislative rider which forbid government-funded insurance programs from paying for abortion, making abortion all but inaccessible to poor people. In 1981, he proposed the “Biden Amendment,” prohibiting foreign aid to be used in any biomedical research related to abortion. The next year, he supported Jesse Helms’s amendment barring foreign NGOs receiving United States aid from using that aid to perform abortion. Biden was one of two Democrats on the Senate Judiciary to vote for the 1982 Hatch Amendment, which would have effectively nullified Roe by turning abortion rights back to federal and state legislatures. At the time, he expressed concern about whether he had “a right to impose” his anti-abortion views on the nation. Then he went ahead and imposed those views anyway.
..... As beneficiary of enormous campaign donations from his home state’s financial behemoth MBNA, in 1999 Biden voted to repeal Glass-Steagall legislation that, since 1933, had separated commercial and investment banking, paving the way for the financial crisis. Biden was one of a handful of Democrats to oppose a measure that would have required credit card companies to warn consumers of the risks of only paying the minimum due on their credit card bills and worked against legislation that would have increased protections for those whose debts mounted thanks to medical bills and for those in the military.

His drug abuse was certainly no surprise to the Navy, which issued him a waiver for a previous drug offense before commissioning him as a public affairs officer at the age of 43. The Navy also bent over backward a second time with an age waiver so he could secure the cushy part-time job.
