There were at least seven shooting incidents at Walmart last month, which is low compared to the past couple of years; however they've been rising steadily for years and this would have been considered high just a couple years ago, and three of them led to deaths including one officer involved shooting of a double homicide suspect, and several more resulted in injuries. There were at least four more deaths at Walmart as well including one murder of a homeless man still under investigation, and three more that they claim don't involve "foul play" even though one of them was hanging from a tree.
Presumably this means it was a suicide and one of the shooting deaths was also a suicide; and there were at least two or three more attempted suicides, where police intervened in all three, one with an entire SWAT team in a gun related incident, the second was also gun related and the last one was a troubled person that stabbed himself.
There were an additional half a dozen or more incidents involving firearms, including at least a couple shooting threats from customers that were angry about customer service or some other incident and at least a couple armed robberies, and another customer that only used pepper spray, because of 'poor customer service.' Another police officer was arrested for shoplifting and a former employee who was also an officer was convicted for use of excessive force after falsely accusing someone of stealing a tomato, creating serious injury and was sentenced to five years in jail, a third incident was confirmed to have been another police officer involved in a hit and run.
How are we supposed to tell the police from the robbers?
There were also a couple incidents where customers tackled a shoplifter or an employee tried to cut off a shoplifter with his own vehicle, and was almost stabbed as a result. Another city is reporting about how their police go to Walmart more than any other store and instead of investigating the causes of their high crime problems Walmart is lobbying for felony convictions of petty shoplifters when they're repeat offenders, and to a large degree they're succeeding, except when a few prosecutors or judges at the local level express outrage at the extremes that are often going on, which has happened but not nearly as often as many of us might hope for.
There were more than a dozen major chases crashes or both at Walmart often starting as shoplifting, but some of them appear intentional, including another incident with an electric scooter intentional trying to hit people and several hit and runs. One of these chases almost hit a busload of shareholders in Arkansas; which might remind them of their epidemic crime problems assuming they care, although the decisions at the corporate headquarters clearly don't appear to be made by people that are concerned with anything but profits, especially if the media refuses to report on how large their crime problems are, or what is causes it.
Cars crashing through the front doors well into the store seem to be happening almost every month or two now.
In addition to several fires in car crashes there were also at least three more major fires, plus a few minor ones including two arson and another incident where the solar panels on the roof caught fire. There were also at least half a dozen stabbing attempts successful or not including one domestic violence incident where a man stabbed his wife and slashed her tires and another where a boy had his throat slashed, although contrary to rumors it wasn't with a chainsaw and he wasn't killed. Another incident happened where a small girl was cut by razor blades hidden in the packaging, which isn't like the incidents where shoplifters often attach them to carts to cut wrappings of items they steal, and may have been intentional for more perverse reasons.
several additional kidnappings, assaults, stolen wallets, robberies took place including one where a greater was fired for punching a panhandler that threatened him after he told him to stop bothering the customers. Their training practices are, of course, a trade secret, even though our tax payer dollars are paying for their high crime problems so it's difficult to know if that is part of the reason why they have all these problems. Laws are made by people taking campaign dollars from large corporations and they don't call it bribery when these laws benefit the donors.
Walmart has also had two separate recalls for salmonella in both eggs and pasta, and an outbreak of measles with about a dozen people exposed at a Walmart medical clinic; they've settled a medicaid lawsuit for automatically refilling prescriptions without requests from the customers, and they're still having problems with their contributions to the opioid epidemic; yet they're trying to increase their control of the health care industry, and many politicians are trying to help them.
Walmart executives refuse to pay their workers a fair wage, or treat their customers with anymore respect than their workers yet they have no problem investing millions if not hundreds of millions of dollars in Theranos a company founded by a "19-year-old Stanford University dropout" with heavy ties to the military including a lot of former government employees or generals on the board of directors. This company has turned into a disaster for one reason or another, although I doubt if we're getting close to the whole truth about it.
Walmart has also had a major propaganda boost with their massive campaign about offering employees free or cheap access to college education; however if it sounds to good to be true, especially at Walmart it almost certainly is. If you look closer it's an online college; and anyone familiar with the efforts to privatize the education system might already realize that this has turned into a massive failure, and the majority of the money being siphoned off of tax payers has been going to waste, as often pointed out in Diane Ravitz's blog or by the National Education Policy Center. While the media was helping them with this massive propaganda scam they were rewarding a worker who prevented a small time scam artist from duping a customer in Maine, although few if anyone is exposing Walmart's obvious scam, certainly not the mainstream media which is helping with it.
Walmart has also been exposed as being among the companies where their employees rely most on both food stamps and medicaid. These small time scam artists are petty compared to the pros, that have much more access to the political establishment!
You would think that Walmart would be happy when their workers go the extra mile to please their customers and keep them coming back, especially after warning them about improving customer service; however, for one reason or another that doesn't seem to apply when they keep the customers happy by giving them free products or services!
With all the scams that Walmart executives are involved and their willingess to look the other way at their crime problems, you might think that they might not be too concerned about people asking a woman to "buy her granddaughter," however even if Walmart isn't concerned about this the police apparently were. And they're also concerned about faking kidnapping for publicity's sake; however when their no law against it even the police let that one go.
Shootings, crashes, stabbings, arson and many other crimes might be very common at Walmart but it's not too often where they have someone steal construction equipment and go on a rampage because he thinks there's an apocalypse and he's being chased by zombies; or at least not yet, it was just last year when someone did a similar thing because a "Hookah-smoking rabbit" told him to do it, or so he told the police!
If this was any other store I might have to make this kind of stuff up but strange things really do happen at Walmart!
In 2006 Wake Up Walmart did a study, "Is Walmart Safe?" based on incidents in 2004, (PDF) about crime at Wal-Mart which showed that it increased when Walmarts opened up and that crime was higher at Walmart than at other retailers. Since then Walmart Shootings began compiling a list of gun related incidents at Wal-Mart and demonstrated that they have a large number of them, including on average more than one shooting per week somewhere in the country. In January of 2014 another study, "Rolling Back Prices and Raising Crime Rates?" provided additional statistical research indicating that Wal-Mart might be contributing to higher crime rates or at least a slowing of the decline in crime. The study found that. “on average, communities with Walmarts had 17 more property crimes and two more violent crimes per 10,000 people than those communities without Walmarts.” I reviewed this more in Walmart’s crime problem, Rolling Back Safety more than prices? where I explained that although this study is helpful they could have done better with additional data that is available and I reviewed some of that. I also added my own review about why I think that Walmart policies have been contributing to higher crime in a previous blog, Walmart high crime rate continues un-investigaterd and have provided additional information under the author tag Walmart Crime Watch.
Stacy Mitchell has also compiled a list of other studies about Walmart and how they impact society, Key Studies on Big-Box Retail & Independent Business. To the best of my knowledge Walmart has done as little as they seem to get away with, often relying on rhetoric that isn't backed up with action, when it comes to addressing any of their critics concerns, including crime. One of the responses they’ve come up with is what they call "Restorative Justice" which gives first time shoplifters a chance to avoid being arrested or any criminal record if they take an on line course which costs $400 up front or $500 in payments, plus perhaps, reparations. This has been part of the privatization process and often denies suspects of the due process or access to a lawyer, perhaps even intimidating and extorting from some people that might not even be guilty. Walmart seems to be trying to find a way to turn crime into a profit making situation instead of looking for the most effective ways to reduce it. Making Change at Walmart is asking If you or someone you know has gone through @Walmart's "Restorative Justice" program for first-time suspected shoplifters, send us a DM. 03/30/2017 to ensure that it isn’t doing more harm than good. I did my own review of this program as well at Walmart’s “Restorative Justice” Endangers Public Without Reducing Crime. The following are a list of incidents that occurred in May 2018. According to the "Is Walmart Safe?" the average store in their sampling had 250 incidents per year, indicating that these are only a fraction of the crime reports at Walmart, and presumably, the ones most likely to make the news on the internet nationwide. This isn't statistically representative, as the 2006 or the "Rolling Back Prices and Raising Crime Rates?" study or some of the studies cited by Stacy Mitchell; but it does provide some additional information that may help recognize how many problems there are at Walmart.

Girl injured by razor blade put in packaging at Sherman Tx. Walmart 04/02/2018
A 3-year-old girl sustained minor injuries at the Sherman Walmart last weekend after she grabbed a box of laundry detergent and was cut by a razor blade which her parents believe was placed inside the product’s packaging on purpose.
Jonathon O’Roark said he and his family traveled from their home in Antlers, Okla. to the Sherman Walmart last Saturday for a regular grocery shopping trip. O’Roark said his family was walking down an aisle when his daughter Olivia grabbed the box of detergent they had placed in their cart and was cut on her fingertips. After determining that the blood was not from one his daughters occasional nose bleeds, O’Roark said he turned his attention to the items in his cart.
“I looked down at the box of detergent, and right underneath where the handle is, there was a razor blade pushed into the cardboard,” O’Roark said. Complete article

Two women rob Spokane Valley Wash. Walmart, threaten to stab employee 04/03/2018
Detectives say one of the women told a store employee she would stab her in the neck if she tried to stop the robbery.
SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – Detectives are looking for two women who fled after robbing and threatening to stab an employee at a Walmart on East Sprague in Spokane Valley.

The register caught the mistake and locked the register, requiring employee assistance. The women then placed the items back in their cart and said they wanted to continue shopping.
When one of the females approached a check stand and began bagging her items without paying for them, authorities said the woman told an employee she would stab them in the neck if she said anything. Fearing for her safety, the employee did not approach the suspect. Complete article

Caught in the Theranos Wreckage: Betsy DeVos, Rupert Murdoch and Walmart’s Waltons 04/04/2018
Even some of the world’s richest people may get duped, according to newly unsealed documents in a lawsuit filed on behalf of investors in the failing blood-testing company Theranos.
High-profile investors who collectively lost hundreds of millions of dollars included Walmart’s Walton family, the media mogul Rupert Murdoch, as well as Betsy DeVos, the secretary of education and her relatives.
The list of investors, which was first reported by The Wall Street Journal, came to light as part of a class-action lawsuit brought in 2016 by Robert Colman, a retired Silicon Valley investment banker, who claims that Theranos misled investors about its business and technology.
Theranos, founded by Elizabeth Holmes when she was a 19-year-old Stanford University dropout, promised to revolutionize the lab industry using a few drops of blood from a simple finger-prick to look for everything from diabetes to cancer, at a fraction of the cost of a traditional blood test.
The company became a Silicon Valley fairy tale, with investors awarding the privately held company a valuation of around $9 billion. But the story began to unravel in October 2015 after The Wall Street Journal, owned by Mr. Murdoch’s News Corp., began questioning whether the tests worked. Theranos became the subject of federal investigations into its testing and claims of proprietary technology, which were called “nanotainers.” Much of the time the company had to resort to using conventional blood testing methods, unable to get federal approval for any test but one for Herpes. .....
Theranos had always boasted a star-studded list of investors and directors — its board included the former secretaries of state George P. Shultz and Henry A. Kissinger, two former United States senators, and Gen. Jim Mattis, the current secretary of defense. But while some high-profile investors’ links to Theranos had been previously known, the new documents provide a detailed list of financial amounts. Complete article

Woman facing life in prison for $1.2M embezzlement shot and killed herself in front of Tx. Walmart 04/05/2018
A Texas woman shot and killed herself in front of a Walmart on Wednesday just hours before she was slated to be sentenced for embezzling $1.2 million.
Paige Moody Bisher, 43, of Spring, Texas, was facing up to life in prison after admitting to stealing $1.2 million from a small Houston company, where she was employed as a part-time administrative assistant, the Houston Chronicle reported.
The Harris County Institute of Forensic Science said Bisher shot herself in the chest in the parking lot of a Walmart in Humble, Texas. The medical examiner ruled her death a suicide.
Bisher admitted to embezzling the money in January and was slated to be sentenced by District Judge Nikita Harmon on Wednesday. Prosecutor Lester Blizzard said he was “planning on asking for a lengthy prison sentence for the first-degree felony theft of more than $300,000,” the Houston Chronicle reported. Complete article

Ex- Ga. cop sentenced to 5 years in prison for beating man he accused of being Walmart shoplifter 04/08/2018
A former Atlanta Ga. police officer was sentenced Monday to five years in jail for beating a man in 2014 who he falsely accused of stealing a tomato from a Walmart.
Former Atlanta Police Department Sergeant Trevor King, 49, of Stockbridge was convicted in December 2017 on “federal charges of unreasonable force and falsifying a police report,” the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
King was shopping at a Walmart in Atlanta in October 2014 when he said he believed he saw Tyrone Carnegay, 53, stealing a tomato. Prosecutors said King, who was in uniform at the time but off-duty, witnessed Carnegay weighing a tomato before leaving the store. King ran over and stopped the man before he left. The officer hit Carnegay with his baton seven times, leaving him with two broken bones in the victim’s right leg. Surveillance video showed King hitting a man with a baton.
However, King searched Carnegay and discovered a receipt showing he paid for the tomato just a few moments before the attack.
“King then wrote a false report to cover up his unjustified assault,” prosecutors said. “Additionally, King charged the victim with obstructing a shoplifting investigation and with assaulting a police officer.” Complete article

How Walmart is Helping Prosecutors Pursue 10-Year Sentences for Shoplifting 04/08/2018
It was late afternoon on Dec. 26, 2016 — the day after Christmas, a day when most stores are busy processing the returns for unwanted gifts — when Curtis Lawson entered a Walmart in Knoxville, Tennessee. He had a receipt for $39.57 in purchases made earlier that month. He needed cash. He walked through the store, picking up the same items he had purchased previously — dishwasher detergent, Oral-B refills, and a pair of girl’s jeggings — and put them in a shopping bag. He brought them to the register, returned the items using his receipt, and received $39.57 in cash. Lawson had committed what is known as “return fraud” — pretending to return items that you didn’t buy.
When Lawson walked into the Walmart empty-handed, Walmart loss prevention officer Robert McAuley decided he looked suspicious and watched him on the security cameras. He watched Lawson pick up the clothes and return them at the Customer Service desk. McAuley immediately detained Lawson, who admitted right away that he had stolen the items, and Lawson was eventually charged with shoplifting and criminal trespass. What came next was a startling encounter with a local criminal justice system heavily influenced by a big box retailer’s desire to reduce shoplifting and a prosecutor’s penchant for punishing those who are more unlucky than dangerous.
Lawson had at least three outstanding warrants, most of which were related to traffic violations, including a DUI. Lawson’s attorneys admitted that Lawson had a drug addiction and sometimes shoplifted to support his habit, but noted that he had never been accused of being a threat to anyone’s safety. Because of the outstanding warrants, his bail was set at $2,500 total, and he was immediately taken to jail. On January 9, a warrant was issued for Lawson that escalated his shoplifting charge to a felony because, according to the arrest affidavit, Lawson was not allowed to be inside Walmart at all. Therefore his return fraud was a burglary — a felony punishable by up to 12 years of prison. His bail was jacked up to $5,000.
In Tennessee, as in many states, shoplifting items under $1,000 is a misdemeanor. But, in the past few years, the Knox County district attorney’s office has been prosecuting people like Lawson under the burglary statute, which under Tennessee law is defined as “unlawfully and knowingly entering a building without the consent of the owner and committing a theft.” Complete article

Walmart acknowledges labor violations, permits union logos 04/11/2018
Walmart has settled a long-running battle with labor activists over the punishment of workers who claimed they were mistreated by managers for supporting efforts to organize by wearing union insignia.
The agreement, obtained by Bloomberg News, forces Walmart to publicly acknowledge in some of its California stores that it violated federal labor law and to stop threatening workers who support strikes or organization efforts.
The settlement — reached by the retailer, the National Labor Relations Board and advocacy group OUR Walmart — will also wipe out disciplinary actions taken against six employees in its Richmond, Calif.-based store who staged a peaceful protest in 2012. Walmart must additionally drop an employee dress code that bans clothing bearing union insignia.
Walmart, the nation's largest private employer with a staff of 1.5 million, has worked for years to fend off labor unions' efforts to organize its workers. The settlement may indicate the chain is more interested in reaching deals brokered by President Donald Trump's NLRB than it was when a majority of the board was appointed by Barack Obama. Employees from Costco, Walmart, and Target share their worst horror stories — and they'll make you rethink how you act when you shop 04/13/2018
Walmart, Target, and Costco employees have seen some pretty gnarly things on the job. Many retail workers, in fact, can probably think up at least one or two less-than-positive incidents they've experienced while working a shift.
Oftentimes, customers are at the center of these troubling situations. A study from the University of British Columbia found that we tend to treat retail workers worse when we're hunting for bargains.
Business Insider has heard from a number of current and former retail employees who had stories to share about particularly gross, bewildering, or nightmarish scenarios that unfolded during their shifts. ......
A Walmart employee told Business Insider they've found everything from "melted ice cream" to "rancid meat" stashed around the store.
"Finding that under bath towels isn't pleasant," the employee told Business Insider. "Pardon me, but put s--- back where you found it. We're not your maid. The store isn't so huge that you cant find where to return the item." Complete article

Walmart has a crime problem, Bloomberg reported in 2016. Reporters Shannon Pettypiece and David Voreacos found that in the city of Tulsa, police were called to Walmart stores 2,000 times in 2015. Compare that with 300 calls from Target stores.
One of Walmart's attempts to combat the specific crime of shoplifting stirred controversy. CNBC reported that, in 2017, the chain dropped out of a program that had first-time shoplifters either pay to enroll in an educational program or face prosecution.
How does Walmart deter shoplifting? 11/10/2017
2; Depending on the size of the store you could have a plain-clothes security person who is legally certified and authorized to make apprehensions. Smaller stores don’t need this, but stores about the size of a medium grocery store will benefit.
5; Be ‘aggressively’ hospitable to customers. Welcome them directly and ask if they need help finding something, or some questions answered. The more evasive they are the higher their risk factor, but this isn’t a be-all-end-all methodology. Be ADHD by glancing around at everyone regularly taking mental stock of how secretive some are being, but don’t get distracted either. Some shoplifters operate in pairs with one being a distraction.

Walmart U.S. Sales Beat Forecasts as E-Commerce Sales Get Back on Track 04/17/2018
It looks like Walmart’s (WMT, +2.76%) tepid e-commerce growth over the holiday season may have been a blip after all.
The mass merchandise retailer said on Thursday that U.S. online sales had risen 33% in the first fiscal quarter of 2018, well above the pace during the fourth quarter last year, and said it continued to believe e-commerce would be up 40% for the full year.
That came as a relief to investors, who sent shares up 1.4% in premarket trading, given the billions of dollars Walmart has spent in recent years on beefing up its e-commerce muscles to better compete with Amazon.com (AMZN, +0.56%) and on its stores to turn them into effective hubs as Walmart blends the digital with the physical. 162 Pennington County voters list SD Walmart as address 04/18/2018
The two candidates for auditor of Pennington County disagree about the legality of dozens of voter registrations that list the north-side Rapid City Walmart as an address.
James Bialota raised the issue Wednesday in a news release.
“I am shocked that there are hundreds of illegal voters registered here in Pennington County, between the hundreds registered to vote who supposedly live at Walmart or others registering at other private businesses and homes, that they don’t own, live or work at,” the release said. “I will update the voter list and bring equality back to the election process.”

Food Recall: Potentially Deadly Salmonella Found in Ziyad Tahini Paste Sold at Walmart 04/21/2018
A jar of tahini contaminated with potentially deadly salmonella has prompted a manufacturer to issue a nationwide recall of the sesame paste.
Ziyad Brothers Importing, based in Cicero, Illinois, has recalled several lots of its own-brand tahini after a jar tested positive for the bacteria, according to a statement by the manufacturer. Stores including Walmart stock the brand, according to Food Safety News.
Salmonella causes diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps between 12 to 72 hours after a person is infected. The illness generally lasts between four to seven days, and in most cases the symptoms fade on their own. However, in the rare cases that salmonella causes severe diarrhea, the individual may need to be treated with antibiotics at hospital to prevent it from spreading to the bloodstream and becoming deadly. Syracuse NY won't buy from Walmart because Walmart doesn't pay people enough 04/21/2018
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The Syracuse Common Council doesn't want to do business with Walmart anymore.
The council today voted down a resolution that would allow the Parks Department to buy food and supplies for community centers from Walmart and Wegmans. It's the kind of annual approval the council typically rubber stamps.
This year, however, a new council refused the Parks Department's request. The vote seemed to surprise some of the councilors who supported it.
In his objection, Councilor-At-Large Michael Greene said Walmart doesn't pay its employees enough.
"I support this programming but I feel that Walmart does not pay its employees well enough that they can operate without public assistance," Greene said. "For that reason I don't think taxpayer dollars should be used to support this corporation."
The item was defeated by a vote of 3-4. It would have needed five votes to pass. Complete article

Walmart bought Bonobos — and the bros aren’t happy 04/25/2018
Brendan Bush used to buy just about everything from Bonobos, including his swim trunks and the suit he wore to his wedding.
But about a year ago, he stopped. The clothing company announced it had been acquired by Walmart for $310 million — and Bush hasn’t given it a cent since. It hasn’t been an easy boycott — he has yet to find a replacement for his Bonobos jeans, which are now covered in holes — but Bush, 38, who works at a technology company in Burlington, Vt., says he will not support a brand that has come under fire for its business practices.
“I don’t begrudge a company for selling itself, but there’s something particularly egregious about the Walmart deal,” he said. “I don’t like the way they treat their employees or how they’ve put smaller retailers out of business. It’s not a company I want to support.” Complete article

Walmart offers employees new perk: cheap access to online college 04/30/2018 Limited to online courses, which, according to most research on privatization of education is mostly automated, and almost useless. Independent research without guidance is as good.
NEW YORK (AP) — Walmart is offering its employees a new perk: affordable access to a college degree.
America's largest private employer, which in the past has helped its workers get their high school or equivalency degree, hopes the new benefit will help it recruit and retain higher quality entry-level employees in a tight U.S. labor market.
The company is teaming up with Denver-based startup Guild Education to offer employees the chance to obtain a bachelor's degree in business or supply-chain management. It will cost a dollar a day at one of three non-profit universities with online programs that have had success working with adult learners: the University of Florida, Brandman University and Bellevue University. It plans to eventually expand to more types of degrees. Complete article

Elderly woman abducted, robbed at Aberdeen Md. Walmart 04/31/2018
ABERDEEN, Md. — An elderly woman was abducted and robbed Friday in a series of crimes that started at the Aberdeen Walmart, police said, and they are looking for the men responsible.
Investigators said the men struck up a conversation with a woman in the gardening section at the Walmart on South Philadelphia Boulevard about hotel locations and persuaded her to lead them out to her car and get behind the wheel.
"At that point, they gave her instructions -- needed money for a friend in Africa-- they needed to provide financial assistance," said Lt. Will Reiber, of the Aberdeen Police Department.
Police said the men didn't imply a weapon, but were aggressive and demanded she withdraw $7,000 as they forced her to drive to banks and ATMs, including the Royal Farms across from the Walmart, a Navy Federal in Bel Air and the Harford Bank in Aberdeen, where one man was captured on the surveillance video. Amazon Among Top Washington Companies for Employee Dependence on Medicaid 05/07/2018
When Amazon announced last week it would pause construction in downtown Seattle until the council votes on the tax, local electeds worried about the effect on jobs. The Seattle Times Editorial Board echoed that concern in opposing the tax Friday, picking up a Chamber of Commerce phrase in labeling it a “tax on jobs.”
But not everyone is so enamored with all those jobs.
While Amazon tech workers in Seattle make an average of $110,000 a year, the company recently released data showing its median employee makes less than $30,000 a year. Here in Washington, the tech company ranks 11th in the state for the number of its employees on Medicaid (also known as Apple Health), according to a November 2017 report from the Washington State Health Care Authority. The company ranked behind top offenders like Walmart and McDonalds but higher on the list than Dollar Tree, Target, Burger King, and Wendy's. Starbucks, another regional giant, ranks below Amazon but still in the top 15. (The report warns of some limits to the data, which is voluntarily self-reported by people enrolling in healthcare programs.) 1 in 10 Workers at This Big American Company Are On Food Stamps in This State 05/30/2018

Utah Walmart employee says ‘instincts’ helped him rescue man from burning car 04/31/2018
ST. GEORGE — Saying he’d never “been brave enough to do anything like this ever in my life,” Jacob Hughes talked to St. George News about pulling a man from a burning car Sunday night just minutes before flames consumed and destroyed the vehicle.
Emergency responders said Hughes’ quick thinking likely saved the man’s life, though he said he only followed his instincts in the moment.
Hughes, 28, of St. George, was on his way to work at the St. George Walmart for the night shift Sunday at about 10 p.m. when he noticed some orange light flickering from within a Ford Mustang in the parking lot of the nearby Wingate Hotel. The car was starting to catch fire from the inside.
Hughes parked his car and considered calling 911, but decided to check first if anyone was in the burning car. He wasn’t able to see into it because of the flames and smoke until he made it to the driver’s side, where he was able to clearly see a man in the driver’s seat through the slightly-open window.
That was when he said his “panicked” instincts kicked in. Complete article
