Walmart had at least nine more shootings in October 2026, including two fatal ones, one where an innocent bystander was killed in an argument between other people, and another where a former Walmart employee killed his wife, who was still a Walmart employee over a domestic argument. There were also at least four injuries from these shootings including two self-inflicted injuries, one that was a single accident, another where the suspect fired multiple shots including one that was self-inflicted. There was also growing outrage after the Attorney General of Mississippi ruled that a police shooting last June that killed a toddler was justified despite the fact that he was shot through the passenger window showing the officer was not in danger, and there was no evidence that they actually had stolen diapers, not that petty theft justifies killing people. There was also a fire at the same police department, but few details about why or if it was related to the killing, though no one was hurt in this fire.
In addition to the nine shootings there were about as many, if not more, gun related crimes where shots weren't fired, including at least one armed robbery, domestic arguments, a customer that threatened an employee for refusing to be in a rap video, armed shoplifters, at least one stolen gun and a threat to shoot up Walmart on Halloween weeks before Halloween.
In addition to the two people killed in shootings there were two more killed in accidents, one person killed after being smashed with a cinder block, and three bodies found on their property, including one that was submerged in water, for a total of at least eight dead.
There were numerous bomb threats, as usual, since Walmart gets dozens, if not hundreds of bomb threats per year, but in one case they were held inside by police and not allowed to leave for some reason. The police say the employees might be in a better position to recognize what's wrong, but these police were clearly not well informed about the long history of bomb threats, which are almost always false alarms, clearly indicating this is the wrong response, and even if it weren't a false alarm, this could have kept people at risk instead of evacuating, which is what they usually do.
There was also another incident where a Walmart account was hacked and $2,000 charged to her, and as usual, Walmart tries not to accept responsibility, but if enough attention is drawn to it they often change their mind, whether it happened this time or not. Another customer who claims he was previously a "floor-walker" watching for shop-lifters for a large corporation said he was able to easily recognize an obvious one when he came in first thing in the morning and there were no other customers, he claimed they were there all the time, but they're harder to spot when it's busy. There were also several assaults and a worker hospitalized in an accidental electrical shock which also led to evacuation of a store.
In addition to the two people killed in accidents there were over half a dozen additional major crashes, chases, fights in an Uber car, stolen vehicles, including one with a 6-year-old in the vehicle when it was stolen, automobile burglaries and other automobile crimes or accidents, probably much more, since many aren't widely reported. There were also at least a couple fires, at least one which was arson and a couple knife attacks including one stabbing and another knife threat.
One shopper noticed that Walmart pharmacy prices have jumped ten times in a month, without a clear explanation, although there are numerous books showing drug prices are greatly inflated due to patents as a result of political connections, even though tax payer money subsidizes almost all research. This fits the definition of what Frédéric Bastiat might call legal plunder, where the government helps one segment of society, in this case drug companies and campaign donors, steal from the rest of us by passing laws to rig the economy. Walmart also got roasted for giving a 44-year employee flowers to celebrate, which made them seem incredibly petty.
Walmart recalls have surged in recent months or years, with new recalls coming out every couple of days, if not more often, on average, including many things that could easily be prevented, providing growing evidence that they're cutting so many corners a large percentage of their products can't be considered safe or reliable. They're also rapidly increasing the use of drone deliveries, in some cases, despite local opposition, or in others they succeed in preventing them, but this appears to be the minority, at least for now.
What could go wrong?
Some of them have already crashed and started fires, there's been at least one case where someone was angry it was flying too close to his property, he thought it was spying on him, so he shot it, and was forced to pay restitution. We'll find out more in the months if not years to come, but this is another recipe for disaster, like self-checkout aisles.
Walmart is being accused of using "dynamic pricing" where they change prices with little or no notice, or do it based on who's shopping as detected by surveillance equipment and other new technology, which they deny. In some cases they probably don't have the technology to do what they're being accused of yet, but they may be developing it. Despite their denials, one report claims they're moving in that direction based on patents they filed, and at least one customer claims prices changed between the time he picked up items from the shelf and when he got to the register, and when he asked about this an employee confirmed it was a new pricing system. Whether it's true or not, the FTC is demanding data about this.
They're also working on more automation or robots to replace workers, and in some cases it's backfiring, like being forced to change the size of cardboard boxes because the robots can't adapt to them. They're also constantly facing one lawsuit after another, including unpaid overtime, accidents and much more; and customers or workers don't have nearly as much money for legal expenses as Walmart, because Walmart uses some of the money they make from workers and customers for legal expenses, so workers and customers are indirectly funding Walmart's defense without having much if any money for their own legal expenses.
How often do you see women that take off all their clothes and walk around nude at Walmart? Do you think there's anything "indecent" about that or cause for an arrest?
Do you know any social media pundits with a large following that assume anyone following them might be a fan? Even when they're shoplifting? Do you know any that brag about getting caught this way saying it "was so scary?"
One bystander watched while a racist white woman harassed a black shopper who turned the table on her saying "You smell like cat" whatever that means, but the bystander thought she got the best of the racist.
An Indiana lawmaker who supported Trump and was endorsed by Trump in return was forced to resign after getting caught shoplifting which he blamed on "cognitive decline" which he seems to have in common with Donald Trump.
Another deputy Mayor was also accused of stealing from Walmart in West Virginia; and apparently he's a repeat offender who had been trespassed and told he couldn't enter Walmart again.
Don't politicians make enough money stealing from the public so they don't have to steal from Walmart? Ever notice they rarely have to resign when they steal from us but are quick to resign or get fired when stealing from the rich?
Once again Customers shared pictures of mouse droppings they found at a Walmart store and one woman said she grabbed two bags without realizing it until after she got them on her hands.
A woman who trespassed on Walmart's ex-CEO, Doug McMillen's home claimed that he and his wife were her parents and that they would eventually "go back to their home planet."
For some reason the judge decided she wasn't fit to stand trial and she spent several years at the Arkansas State Hospital before being released on the condition that she doesn't contact the family, which she breached and was arrested again. Are they sure she's not their daughter and will eventually "go back to their home planet" with her?
Strange things happen at Walmart!
In 2006 Wake Up Walmart did a study, "Is Walmart Safe?" based on incidents in 2004, (PDF) about crime at Walmart which showed that it increased when Walmarts opened up and that crime was higher at Walmart than at other retailers. Since then Walmart Shootings began compiling a list of gun related incidents at Walmart and demonstrated that they have a large number of them, including on average more than one shooting per week somewhere in the country; now after counting them for several years that average is over two per week. In January of 2014 another study, "Rolling Back Prices and Raising Crime Rates?" provided additional statistical research indicating that Walmart might be contributing to higher crime rates or at least a slowing of the decline in crime. The study found that. “on average, communities with Walmarts had 17 more property crimes and two more violent crimes per 10,000 people than those communities without Walmarts.” I reviewed this more in Walmart’s crime problem, Rolling Back Safety more than prices? where I explained that although this study is helpful they could have done better with additional data that is available and I reviewed some of that. I also added my own review about why I think that Walmart policies have been contributing to higher crime in a previous blog, Walmart high crime rate continues un-investigaterd and have provided additional information under the author tag Walmart Crime Watch.
Over the past ten to fifteen years Walmart has been increasing the use of self-checkout, and this has corresponded with a steady increase in shoplifting as well as false accusations, yet they refuse to even discuss returning to the use of cashiers. What most people seem to have forgotten was that when they first did this it was on a small scale as an experiment, presumably to see if it worked before expanding it, which would actually make sense, if they slowed it down or reversed it once they saw how many problems it caused. But that's not what they did. Instead the more problems they had the more they increased use of self-checkout, often claiming that instead of hiring more cashiers again, which worked previously, they resorted to more technology and hiring more security to catch people skip scanning or at other forms of theft. This has led to massive amounts of false accusations, in addition to the real thefts, and when the thefts are real, and they get caught, they often resort to violence, so it endangers both Walmart workers and customers.
Now they're acting as if the rise of shoplifting is happening for some inexplicable reason and even asking police to help them solve this problem, as if it wasn't a problem created by their own policies, and most of the media or politicians aren't pointing out the obvious. This is resulting in a massive increase in arrests, court expenses, and prison expenses, which Walmart isn't paying for, effectively meaning we are subsidizing Walmart's high crime problems with tax money. There's no official explanation for why they're behaving so foolishly; but, since this is a for profit corporation it's not hard to speculate about the most likely reason for it, that they're increasing profits for those making the decisions. But, a large portion of the money saved by not hiring cashiers is spent on technology or security to catch thieves; and, if they had to pay the increase in police, courts and prison costs that would reduce or eliminate their savings, and they would almost certainly reverse their policies, because they wouldn't be increasing profits with self-checkout.
This doesn't even include the risk to the health of both their customers and workers when the worst thieves turn violent, in some cases possibly even shooting and killing people. Every year since 2016 has seen more than a hundred shootings at Walmart, and more often than not, this is increasing, while they ignore the causes of their crime problems. These self-checkouts are also making it easier for thieves to put "skimmers" that collect credit or debit card information from customers that enable them to use their cards illegally, but, once again, the customers are stuck with the tab, not Walmart, so they're doing little or nothing to stop this, even though it's a direct result of their bad policies. And furthermore, courts have ruled that Walmart has a right to detain customers even when they have no reason to believe they're shoplifting, if they simply refuse to show receipts, as a matter of principle. At times some lawyers have claimed they need probable cause to ask to see receipts, which, if a customer goes directly from the register, sometimes even when there's a cashier, to the door they can't possibly have. So this means Walmart is under no obligation to assume their paying customers are innocent until proven guilty, which should raise major constitutional questions!
Stacy Mitchell has also compiled a list of other studies about Walmart and how they impact society, Key Studies on Big-Box Retail & Independent Business. To the best of my knowledge Walmart has done as little as they seem to get away with, often relying on rhetoric that isn't backed up with action, when it comes to addressing any of their critics concerns, including crime. One of the responses they’ve come up with is what they call "Restorative Justice" which gives first time shoplifters a chance to avoid being arrested or any criminal record if they take an on line course which costs $400 up front or $500 in payments, plus perhaps, reparations. This has been part of the privatization process and often denies suspects of the due process or access to a lawyer, perhaps even intimidating and extorting from some people that might not even be guilty. Walmart seems to be trying to find a way to turn crime into a profit making situation instead of looking for the most effective ways to reduce it. Making Change at Walmart is asking If you or someone you know has gone through @Walmart's "Restorative Justice" program for first-time suspected shoplifters, send us a DM. 03/30/2017 to ensure that it isn’t doing more harm than good. I did my own review of this program as well at Walmart’s “Restorative Justice” Endangers Public Without Reducing Crime. The following are a list of incidents that occurred in October 2026. According to the "Is Walmart Safe?" the average store in their sampling had 250 incidents per year indicating that these are only a fraction of the crime reports at Walmart, and presumably, the ones most likely to make the news on the internet nationwide. This isn't statistically representative, as the 2006 or the "Rolling Back Prices and Raising Crime Rates?" study or some of the studies cited by Stacy Mitchell; but it does provide some additional information that may help recognize how many problems there are at Walmart.

Woman thought a Walmart staff was flirting with her and became a ‘fan’. Then he grabbed her at the exit and checks her purse: ‘Was so scary’ 10/05/2026
Noticing the same man in aisle after aisle can make a Walmart trip uncomfortable. One woman, however, apparently landed on a much more flattering explanation: he had a crush on her.
The attention did not seem impossible to her. She had around 40,000 TikTok followers at the time, so she even wondered whether the stranger was a fan. Walmart shoppers have caught people quietly following them around stores before, but she was reading the situation very differently.
According to TikTok creator @secretaccountforbadbs, there was one major detail working against that theory. She was shoplifting at the time. Once she reached the Walmart exit, her supposed admirer finally revealed why he had been watching her. “This was so scary,” she recalled.
That attention suddenly made sense
The woman shared the 2023 incident in a TikTok that has received more than 124,000 views. At the time, she described herself as “completely dirt broke,” despite having a job that paid $17 an hour.
She admitted that much of her money was going toward partying and drinking, leaving her without enough for food, laundry, and other expenses. Eventually, she decided to steal from Walmart. Complete article

Nevada shopper says Walmart pharmacy prices jumped 10 times in a month 10/03/2026
A Nevada Walmart shopper said several routine prescriptions jumped by roughly 10 times in a single month, with Walmart blaming the insurer and the insurer pointing back at Walmart's billing — a confusing increase that prompted the customer to ask whether the problem was the pharmacy, the insurance company, or a discount that quietly disappeared.
Here's what to know
The complaint appeared in a Reddit thread in r/HealthInsurance, where the original poster wrote, "Has anyone else experienced huge price increases at Walmart Pharmacy recently? The price of some meds from last month to this month has gone up by 10 times, some even more."
Among the examples they shared, one monthly refill went from $2.63 to more than $30, and another increased from $1.99 to $11.15.
According to the poster, the two companies offered opposite explanations: Walmart blamed the insurance company, and the insurer said Walmart billed the higher amounts. They added that, "looking at claim history on Rx provider website seems to corroborate that," while also saying they had not seen news coverage or similar posts about the issue. Complete article

Goodbye to these bills: Walmart won't accept these dollars in October 2026 10/07/2026
If you have these dollar bills, neither retailers like Walmart nor banks will accept them. Here’s which ones and what you can do to not lose your money.
In an effort to improve the security of the monetary system, the Bureau of Engraving, the Secret Service and the Advanced Counterfeit Deterrence (ACD) Steering Committee have implemented an initiative to stop U.S. retailers, banks, and ATMs from accepting specific banknotes.
According to various reports, the dollar bills that will be rejected are all those that fall into the category of “mutilated”, that is, those that have cuts or damaged edges and are discolored. This measure applies to stores and supermarkets such as Walmart, Dollar Tree, Costco, Target and other businesses.
Currently, the U.S. Federal Reserve (Fed) issues dollar bills in seven denominations: $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100. While the $500, $1,000, and $10,000 bills have been out of production for some time, they are still in circulation. The only scenario in which the latter can be rejected is if they fall into the “mutilated” category, like any other unit. Complete article

Wing and Walmart will bring drone delivery to Denver and Seattle in 2027 10/06/2026
If you shop at Walmart in a big US city, a drone may soon bring your order. Wing, Alphabet's drone company, and Walmart say they will launch delivery in the Denver and Seattle areas in 2027. The official announcement puts the goal at more than 270 stores and about 40 million customers by then. Drone delivery is moving from pilot projects to a standard option at a major retailer.
The rollout
Wing already serves five metro areas for Walmart: Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas–Fort Worth, Houston and Orlando. The companies say more than 3 million customers can already order this way. They have not said how many orders each metro area handles.
Beyond Denver and Seattle, 14 more areas are planned. Miami, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area are on the list. That would bring the network to nearly 20 US metro areas.
The drones fly at up to 60 mph (97 km/h) and carry up to 5 pounds (2.3 kg). They lower each package on a tether, so they don't land at the door. When an order qualifies, the option appears on Walmart's website or app. Customers can also order through Wing's own app.
Not everyone is welcoming it
Denver's plans showed up in city permits before the announcement, according to DroneXL. Two suburbs have reportedly frozen applications for drone hubs over zoning concerns. Axios Denver says only five Walmart stores sit inside city limits. Rain in Seattle and winter weather in Denver will also test how reliable the drones are. Complete article

Woman Uses Walmart Self-Checkout Despite Vowing To Never Shop There Again. Then The Machine Bamboozles Her-Again 10/08/2026
A woman has questions for Walmart after an unexpected item ended up on her self-checkout scan and nearly doubled her total price. She's not the only one sounding the alarm-but why does this mystery charge keep showing up?
When you use self-checkout, you're not likely to look through every single line of your receipt. After all, you were the person scanning everything-don't you trust yourself to get it right?
However, if you're not someone who reviews the screen before paying, you might want to start. That's because some Walmart shoppers are reporting strange charges on their bills.
What Happened At This Walmart?
In a video with over 1.3 million views, TikTok user Saber Dawsey (@sabercierraa) issues a warning to those using self-checkout at Walmart.
According to Dawsey, she had previously sworn off visiting the store after she was accused of stealing. However, a recent craft project brought her back-leading to this strange situation.
"I'm using the self-checkout, and I don't know why I looked… I never check the price, and I never check my listed items when I'm using the self-checkout. I just pay and go," she recalls. "And I'm so glad I looked because at the top of my screen… it said, 'Site Merch,' and it's a charge of, like, 20-plus dollars."
Dawsey says that this false charge effectively "doubled" her total cost.
"I had to call over the associate-and it must happen quite often, 'cause she didn't even come over. She just, like, did it from her…handheld phone thing and deleted the 'Site Merch.' But why is it on there?"
While she admits that she doesn't know whether it was intentional, she says the experience "feels weird." Complete article

Walmart Says It Prices Products, Not People. Its Patents Suggest Otherwise. 10/09/2026
A decade of filings reveals technology that could instantly change prices based on what’s in your cart, your perceived personality, and even the specifics of your car.
Walmart serves 280 million shoppers a week and churned out more than $22 billion in profit in the last fiscal year. So, suffice it to say, I was floored – and maybe even a bit flattered – when the retail behemoth issued not one but two public responses in just over a week to the warnings I’ve made to shoppers about the retailer’s new surveillance pricing and price-gouging technologies in my new book and in recent interviews.
In an open letter to customers from the CEO, followed by a letter from the company’s top PR executive addressing me directly, Walmart insists that it “price[s] products, not people” and argues that building technological capacity is not the same as deploying it.
But here’s the problem: Walmart’s public assurances tell a very different story from the one buried in its patent filings. Walmart is pouring resources into developing and protecting the technology it needs to create intimate shopper profiles and use that data to shape what consumers pay.
This week, our organization, Groundwork Collaborative, released a stunning analysis of more than 10 years of Walmart’s patent filings. Our research reveals a sprawling arsenal of technologies capable of tracking shoppers and building extraordinarily detailed profiles of them. That includes apps, electronic shelf labels, and surveillance cameras that can instantly change prices and offers based on your in-store and online behavior, Complete article
Report says Walmart using shoppers' data to charge them dynamic pricing 10/09/2026
An Open Letter from the CEO of Walmart- “We price the product, not the person.” Or, Some of the Keys to Knowing How You’re Getting Ripped Off 10/11/2026 Unfortunately, it is hard to square that laudable story the CEO tells with the story of Walmart’s investment in surveillance technology, starting with their investment in electronic shelf labels (ESLs), aka shelf price tags that can change their display up to 6 times per minute. With the ESLs, Walmart can ‘adjust’ the price of an item based on the time of day, the current demand for a product, or even based on who is standing in front of the product. Which leads to some interesting conundrums, such as being charged a different price than the customer in from of you in the checkout line or charging you a price that is different from the price you saw when you picked the item off the shelf.

Walmart’s multibillion-dollar push to replace workers with robots hits snags on dog food, cardboard boxes: report 10/09/2026
Walmart’s multibillion-dollar push to replace human workers with robots is reportedly hitting snags as the machinery struggles to carry dog food and Thanksgiving turkeys or handle cardboard boxes.
A simple task called “breakpack” – when workers remove items from cardboard boxes to ship out individually – is easy for Walmart’s more than 140,000 warehouse workers, who also unload trucks, operate forklifts, sort and store goods on shelves, and send out shipments.
But it’s a challenge for the new warehouse robots, which are too small to carry and unload the same cardboard boxes, according to a Wall Street Journal report.
It might sound like a simple fix – replace the boxes. And that’s what Walmart is planning to do. But the largest retail chain in the world has been using the same cardboard boxes for more than two decades, urging workers to reuse the boxes to save on costs.
Now Walmart is planning to throw all those boxes – which cost an average of $1 each – in the trash, replacing them with new ones that are 1 ½ inches shorter and need to be taped closed, a new step that will cost more money, the report said.
Philip McIlrath, the manager of an Indiana apparel warehouse using the new boxes, told the Journal it’s “a small change,” but for workers, “it’s changing their daily routine quite a bit.” He argued the new boxes will eventually reduce stocking time, which will lower labor costs. Complete article

Walmart Settles Its Four-Year Legal Case Over Structurlam’s Collapse 10/08/2026
The deal ends a dispute dating back to 2022 over timber the Canadian company supplied for Walmart's new head office in Arkansas.
Walmart has settled its case over more than US$80 million in claims against Structurlam, the Canadian mass timber manufacturer it hired to supply its new head office. That is according to the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, which approved the settlement with the trust representing Structurlam’s creditors in July and closed the case in August.
“Disputes arose over the parties’ performance under the contract, ultimately leading to the debtors filing these bankruptcy cases,” US Bankruptcy Judge Craig Goldblatt wrote in April. To service the deal, Structurlam had opened a dedicated plant at Conway, Arkansas, after signing its first supply agreement with Walmart in December 2019.
Structurlam’s parent company sold Walmart a stake large enough to name three of its 11 directors. Walmart agreed in a revised deal in June 2022 to buy at least 700,000 cubic feet of cross-laminated timber (CLT) and 400,000 cubic feet of glue-laminated timber (glulam), the trust said.
According to the trust, Walmart first brought forward deadlines for one building in July 2022, then redesigned six of the eight main buildings a month later. The trust said Walmart also stopped paying for accepted timber and refused further deliveries over a glulam fault, even after Structurlam’s engineers found it “met or exceeded the requirements”.
The retailer ended the contract in January 2023, saying Structurlam had failed to deliver fully and on time and had not fixed the problems within the time allowed. It lodged its claims later that year, for goods it said were faulty, did not meet the contract, or were never delivered. Complete article

Insurers must defend Walmart in opioid lawsuits: appeals court 10/07/2026
Two units of American International Group and dozens of other insurers must pay to defend Walmart Inc. in more than 2,400 opioid lawsuits, a state appeals court ruled Wednesday in a ruling that went against the grain of other recent suits against big pharmacy chains.
In ACE American Insurance Company v. Walmart, Inc., the Arkansas Court of Appeals upheld a trial judge’s order that American Home Assurance Company and National Union Fire Insurance Company, Walmart’s primary insurers, and the excess insurers above them owe the retailer a defense. The ruling covers defense costs only, not whether insurers must help pay settlements.
Walmart, based in Bentonville, Arkansas, sued its insurers in November 2022, about a week before it announced a $3.1 billion nationwide framework to settle opioid claims by state, local and tribal governments. Walmart denied wrongdoing. The figure includes money for treatment and care plus attorneys’ fees and costs. Complete article

NC Walmart shoppers claim they were held inside during bomb threat, police chief responds 10/06/2026
Police chief Lynn Gay said that ultimately, while the department did not want to inconvenience the public, the safety of both people inside and Dunn residents was his top priority that night.
Dunn's police chief on Tuesday responded to claims from Walmart shoppers that they were kept inside while officers investigated a potential bomb threat at the store.
Police chief Lynn Gay said that ultimately, while the department did not want to inconvenience the public, the safety of both people inside and Dunn residents was his top priority that night.
The Dunn Police Department was called to the store on East Jackson Boulevard around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. They eventually determined that the bomb threat was a hoax and reopened the store's parking lot around 9 p.m.
While the threat was deemed not credible, some shoppers told WRAL News that they were kept inside the store for about 45 minutes while officers searched the building.
"Why would you lock us inside?" said Katie Elliot, a shopper at the store on Sunday. "We were locked in for an hour, standing at the front of the store with hundreds of people who had checked out...We were just standing there, no clue what was going on, no answers."
Gay, who was a bomb technician with the State Bureau of Investigation for 20 years before becoming chief, said that with a threat to such a large store, the people who were frequent shoppers and workers were the best ones to notice if something was out of place and would've helped officers assess a threat more quickly. Police Find Multiple IDs During Wash. Walmart Theft Arrest — Then the Explanations Start 10/09/2026
A Walmart theft investigation turned into something more complicated when police tried to answer a basic question: Who had they arrested?
Bodycam footage posted to YouTube shows store loss-prevention workers stopping a customer after monitoring what they described as fraudulent returns. Police soon became less concerned with whether an arrest would happen than with determining whose name should go on the paperwork.
The customer repeatedly gave officers the name Tessa, but searches under the information she provided apparently returned records that did not match the person standing in front of them. The problem grew when officers found several identification documents while searching her belongings. Complete article

Walmart shopper allegedly returns to steal multiple times in one day. Viral post claims she shouted ‘I came from Palestine’
A Walmart shopper’s return trip to a Peoria, Illinois, store allegedly ended with police waiting for her. In bodycam footage from the encounter, an officer tells the woman that employees “recognized you from last time so they called us” and says the latest suspected theft involved about $30 in merchandise.
Majda Al-haddad later shared the footage on X, where her Arabic caption was translated as saying the woman had returned to Walmart multiple times that day. The post also claims she shouted, “I came from Palestine,” once police arrived.
What the bodycam actually shows is pretty plain. An officer says Walmart employees recognized the woman from an earlier visit and tells her the current allegation involves about $30 in merchandise. The footage never actually spells out how many times she had allegedly been there before, and the Palestine quote in the viral caption is not clearly audible in the clip. Complete article

2 men accused of selling fake phones to West Burlington Iowa Walmart kiosk 10/12/2026
WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa — Police in West Burlington say a kiosk inside the local Walmart paid out thousands of dollars for phones that aren't real.
Police Chief Jesse Logan said the phones were passed off as real ones, then sold to an ecoATM inside the store, which pays cash for used phones. Some of the phones were allegedly made of glued-on cardboard, while another was just a piece of paper.
“They deposit it into the kiosk, and then they would receive the money back," Logan said.
And those payouts added up.
“We had 89 completed fraudulent transactions with a total of $6,792 that was dispensed," Logan said. He added that another 46 attempted transactions were denied by the kiosk, as well.
EcoATM sent investigators three boxes of phones and paperwork in the investigation. Logan said kiosk photos and Walmart surveillance footage helped identify the suspects, Jacob Johnson and Damone Manning of Burlington. Both face charges including second-degree theft and ongoing criminal conduct. However, police said the case isn't over with just yet.
"We're still investigating it. We still have a couple of suspects that we may identify at a later time," Logan said. Complete article

Walmart roasted for giving 44-year employee flowers — but her career began with a retirement perk the company axed 10/12/2026
An image of a Walmart employee in Kentucky has gone viral after the employer celebrated her 44th work anniversary with a bouquet of flowers.
Gayle, an employee at Walmart's Frederica Street location in Owensboro, Kentucky, was photographed holding flowers in a Facebook post celebrating her milestone anniversary. The store congratulated her in a since-removed post on its Facebook page, thanking her for everything she does, according to screenshots of the original post shared by Complex and other outlets.
"Congratulations Gayle on 44 years with the company!!" the original post read. "What a huge accomplishment! We appreciate everything you do!"
While the gesture was meant to recognize Gayle for her more than four decades of service, the post sparked criticism from commenters who felt that flowers were an underwhelming reward for someone who has spent nearly half a century showing loyalty to the retailer.
One Facebook user even wrote: "That 'arrangement' came from one of their random displays. She had to return it," with another adding that "the look on her face says it all." Another Facebook commenter wrote that employees used to get "pensions, bonuses," and "now it's pizza parties and poverty." Complete article

Shopper says someone ran up $2K Walmart tab in her name 10/16/2026
The Walmart app is easy. You place an order, workers grab your groceries, and you pick them up.
“We used it every week. We never had a problem until this time,” Colleen German said.
She says someone got into her account, ordered more than $2,000 in groceries in her name, and picked them up.
“I immediately called Walmart fraud department, told them they were not mine, to please stop the orders before they were picked up,” German said.
She says the store assured her they would stop the orders, but “maybe 45 minutes later, I received two more emails saying thank you for picking up your order.”
German says Walmart told her to dispute the charges with her credit card company. She did. She says the credit card gave her a temporary credit, but changed their mind when Walmart told them someone with a proper barcode picked up the orders.
“We don’t have $2,000 just to fork out,” she said. “I just really want my money back. That’s it.”
So, German turned to Channel 9’s sister station in Orlando for help. They contacted Walmart. The company took another look and let her know it had “now marked these orders as fraudulent” and told her to file another dispute with her credit card. Soon after, she got her money back. Complete article

White woman harasses Black shopper at Walmart. Then the shopper roasts her so bad a bystander stops to watch: ‘You smell like cat’ 10/16/2026
A trip to Walmart shouldn’t involve defending yourself against another customer. But one Black woman got into a heated argument with a white shopper who allegedly followed her around the store. And she wasn’t about to stay quiet.
The Black shopper repeatedly asked to be left alone. Instead, the argument escalated into insults, an apparent threat to call police, and a demand to leave the store. But one insult had viewers laughing.
A video shared by TikTok account @original_ghettogaragetv has gained 7.4 million views. Many praised the woman’s response, while a man standing nearby caught viewers’ attention for his reaction.
She had clearly had enough
The confrontation took place in Walmart’s grocery section, where the Black shopper accused a white woman of following and harassing her. The video begins after the disagreement has already started, leaving the reason for their initial argument unclear. “I’m not gonna hit you first because that’s what white people do is play victim,” the Black woman declares while recording the encounter. Walmart Employee Shares How a Simple Checkout Recommendation Turned Into a Confrontation With an Elderly Customer Who Blamed Him for the Wait 10/15/2026
TikTok content creator @skylouieeeee posted a video that amassed over 71,000 views and 96 comments, describing his encounter with a hostile elderly customer while working as a Walmart employee. The creator said that, in his experience, it's always the older customers who lash out at employees when things don't go their way.
He said the encounter with the elderly customer began when the man approached him during his shift, asking about an alternative checkout register he could use because the line at the front was too long. So, the TikToker directed him to either the electronics checkout or the auto care checkout, adding that he would only be accepted at those registers if he had fewer than 15 items in his cart.
Keep in mind that the TikToker doesn't work in the auto care department or the electronics department. He also directed the customer to either one of those checkout registers but never confirmed that he would be the cashier scanning his items.
After confirming that he had fewer than 15 items, the Walmart employee suggested going to the electronics checkout since, more than likely, there wouldn't be a long line.
The Walmart Employee Said the Customer Misunderstood His Instructions
The customer decided to follow the young man's advice and went over to the electronics checkout line to pay. Fast-forward about 30 minutes, and the TikToker was getting ready to take his lunch break when he noticed the same man at the electronics checkout stand.
When he saw the young man, he said, "Hey, what the hell is your problem?! You said that you were gonna come and check me out. What took you so long?"
But the TikToker reminded him that he had never said he was going to check him out. Rather, he had advised him to use either the electronics checkout or the auto care checkout. Complete article

Herpes 'remedies' sold on Amazon and Walmart pose public health risk, FDA warns 10/14/2026
Creams, sprays and washes that promise relief from genital herpes are easy to order online, but none of them has been approved to treat the infection.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has sent warning letters to Amazon and Walmart over herpes products sold on their websites. The agency said the items are unapproved drugs that can't legally be shipped across state lines.
"Effective treatment requires diagnosis and supervision by a licensed health care professional," the FDA wrote in both letters, dated Oct. 1.
Agency staff bought the products from the two sites in July. Outside sellers listed them, but Amazon and Walmart stored and shipped the orders through their own fulfillment programs, the FDA explained. Complete article

‘We will not stop fighting’: City, activists respond after AG rules officer’s force justified in June death of 1-year-old Kohen Wiley at Mississippi Walmart 10/19/2026
SENATOBIA, Miss. (WMC) - The Mississippi Attorney General’s Office announced Monday that an officer’s use of force was justified in the June 14 shooting death of 1-year-old Kohen Wiley.
The announcement marks the conclusion of the state’s investigation into Wiley’s death in the parking lot of the Senatobia Walmart. The City of Senatobia released the following statement Monday:
“The Mississippi Attorney General’s Office has concluded its review of the June 14, 2026, officer-involved shooting in Senatobia, finding the use of force justified and declining prosecution. The state’s criminal case is now closed.
The City of Senatobia continues to extend its deepest sympathy to Kohen Wiley’s family and all those affected by this tragedy.“
City of Senatobia
On June 14, Senatobia police responded to an alleged shoplifting involving diapers at Walmart. Wiley was inside a car with his mother, who was holding him, and his great-aunt, who was driving.
According to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, the driver drove toward officers and nearly struck one of them. An officer then fired toward the vehicle, striking Wiley and the driver. Wiley died from his injuries. ........
“It’s a rage that’s boiling in our community. It’s a righteous indignation that this community have that’s, its not going to be satisfied unless justice is served,” said community activist Patrick Lumumba.
Residents continue to express concern about the shooting following the attorney general’s decision, saying the focus remains on the tragedy of a one-year-old child losing his life.
“I think there should’ve been a little bit more justice on that, cause I don’t think you should’ve had a gun in a parking lot shooting in an open parking lot with a lot of cars and people here,” said Senatobia resident Billy Brooks. “It makes me feel sad sometimes cause the police shouldn’t be shooting at the people.” Complete article
State to release video from fatal police shooting at MS Walmart 10/20/2026
Mississippi’s Attorney General has ruled the police shooting that killed 18-month-old Kohen Wiley “justified.” No charges will be filed. 10/19/2026 This FB post sumerizes most of this story, and I've seen news stories confirming it's accurate. A couple additional details that need to be mentioned include the fact that the child was shot through the passenger window, which was shattered. The autopsy indicates that he was covered in broken glass, confirming this. A picture confirms this showing the shattered passenger window, and one small hole on the windshield on the passented side. If all the shots were from the left the police story that they were headed for the police endangering them must be false. It's unclear what angle the shot in the windshield came from, it could have been front left possibly hitting the driver, who was shot. Or it could have been the front, but if so, why would they shooot at the passenger not the driver? If it was from the front left aiming at the driver then the cop wouldn't have been in her path.

Walmart launches new membership to combine Walmart+ and Sam’s Club for only $120 10/20/2026 On the day this story was reported there was only one story about it "Walmart" news searches from at least two search engines, but there were dozens of identical articles about this membership story disguised as news flooding search engines so crime doesn't appear. There's little or no way of knowing how many news stories were buried using this tactic. This isn't unprecendented, although it's more obvious than most times this happens; ads or trivial news have been flooding search engines more over the past several years, and it's more extreme during the holidays, so it's unlikely that crime at Walmart is dropping, just that it's not showing up on search engines.

Man walks into Walmart at 6am. Then he says he catches ‘floorwalkers' walking in before him: ‘Trying to blend in as a shopper' 10/21/2026
A man who says he's a former "floorwalker" thinks there are more Walmart employees dedicated to asset protection than the average person would see. He also claims that they're there at all hours-even right when Walmart opens up shop.
@bigbagspenny616 posted a video that received more than 373,000 views. In it, he says that floorwalkers show up at sunrise to catch thieves.
"The morning shift is the most tactical deployment of the day. In an empty lot, there's nowhere to hide," he says. He films himself entering Walmart in the early morning. Then he claims that two floorwalkers "materialized" to follow him in the store.
In a comment, he writes, "You think these two people just randomly happen to jump out of their car and walk in when I pulled up is just random? Maybe if [it] was regular hours, but look at the lot … You got to read the room." Complete article

Walmart Scam Victims Are Getting Checks Averaging $150. Don’t Toss Yours 10/21/2026
Scammers used Walmart's money-transfer counters to collect from their victims. Now some money is coming back — and so are the fakes.
If a check from the Federal Trade Commission lands in your mailbox, don’t toss it with the junk mail. And don’t assume it’s a scam, either.
For years, according to the FTC, crooks used the money-transfer counters at Walmart to collect cash from people they’d conned. Now the agency is mailing refunds: more than $9.8 million, split among 65,022 checks.
That works out to about $150 each, by my math. The FTC doesn’t publish an average, and individual checks may differ. But $150 is real money, and if your name is on that check, it’s yours.
Here’s the catch: A refund for scam victims is exactly the kind of thing scammers love to fake. Here’s what you need to know. Complete article

Lawsuit claims Walmart shrimp up to 11% short on weight 10/20/2026
The retail giant said it has “policies in place” to ensure proper labeling after an Illinois plaintiff sued the company for allegedly including ice glaze in the weight of its Great Value shrimp products, thus overstating the amount of shrimp consumers receive.
Walmart has been accused in a new class-action lawsuit of misrepresenting the total weight of the shrimp in its Great Value-branded products, allegedly doing so by as much as 11 percent.
Plaintiff Elijah Baptist's lawsuit in Cook County, Illinois, alleges Great Value shrimp products contain less shrimp than advertised on the label because Walmart includes the weight of ice glaze in its calculation.
The suit alleges this practice is deceptive and violates consumer laws, according to multiple websites that track legal filings.
U.S. Food and Drug Administration (USDA) guidelines allow seafood companies to use ice glaze to stave off freezer burn, but the USDA notes that if companies are caught overstating the weight of the actual product they “may be criminally prosecuted … as felonies since they are committed with the intent to defraud or mislead.” Complete article

While Amazon blocks AI agents, Walmart rolls out the welcome mat 10/21/2026
Walmart is embracing agentic commerce with the launch of its own Agent Gateway to manage transactions and other new features aimed at customers using AI agents, the retailer announced on Wednesday. The move comes shortly after Walmart’s top competitor, Amazon, began blocking AI agents from making purchases on behalf of online shoppers.
The company’s embrace of AI technology differentiates it from other online businesses, including not only Amazon but also various travel and booking sites, which have responded to the growing consumer adoption of AI agents by locking them out of their websites completely. Walmart, on the other hand, had already announced a partnership with a leading agent in the space, Meta’s Muse, and offers integrations with popular AI apps like ChatGPT, Gemini, and others.
Now it’s expanding on those efforts with more technology to prepare for a world where AI agents become mainstream, said Walmart president and CEO John Furner, speaking at the Masters of Scale Summit in San Francisco on Wednesday. The technology will support agentic shopping from both Walmart and the company’s discount warehouse, Sam’s Club. Complete article

Walmart sued over stevia sweetener labeling 10/26/2026
Independent testing revealed Great Value stevia products contain only trace amounts of stevia extract.
SAN FRANCISCO (CN) — Walmart misleads consumers by marketing its Great Value stevia sweeteners as made with stevia extract when they are primarily sweetened with erythritol, a proposed class action claims.
Lee Ann Winter sued the retailer Oct. 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, claiming false advertising and violations of state consumer protection laws.
Winter claims the products are “primarily sweetened with erythritol, not stevia extract,” despite labels stating they are made with stevia extract.
Independent laboratory testing by Winter’s attorneys found Great Value No Calorie Stevia Packets, in an 80-count package, contained 94.44% erythritol, while Great Value No Calorie Stevia Sweetener Sugar Substitute, sold in a 9.8-ounce package, contained 59.12%, with the remainder primarily dextrose and maltodextrin. FTC demands Walmart, Uber, Delta reveal data on personalized pricing 10/29/2026
9 companies have been contacted by the federal agency.
The Federal Trade Commission is demanding information from Delta Air Lines, Walmart, Uber and six other companies to provide detailed information that will allow the agency to study the use of personal data to set prices, wages and job offers.

Grocery chain promises to mark up prices by only 10%, lower than Walmart, Costco 10/28/2026
Many retail businesses – small local shops, furniture stores – use the standard markup of 100%, doubling the wholesale price and leaving owners with a 50% margin. Some very small or specialty shops may include the cost of shipping when determining how to price an item.
As a former small business owner, I can tell you that many stores struggle even at that markup.
The more a business purchases in one order, the lower the wholesale cost. That’s how warehouse stores and Walmart and Target keep their prices low. And by keeping prices low, they have more volume in sales, leading to more profit.
Chains such as Kroger and Publix don’t have the same margins as a company like Walmart.
An article by The Street quotes a Kroger official on pricing philosophy. “We are not in the game of being the cheapest because we do not have the lowest costs. But we can provide the best value,” Kroger CEO Gregory Foran told The Street during his chain’s second-quarter earnings call.
Now one grocery chain, Kansas City-based Price Chopper, is challenging big-box stores by promising to only markup prices by 10%. Complete article

Documents: Woman who trespassed in ex-Walmart CEO’s home thought she was his daughter 10/31/2026
Thomas accused of violating no-contact order related to 2015 case, other charges.
From Google AI:
Gretchen Bon Estelle Thomas, 41, has been arrested in Bentonville, Arkansas, for allegedly violating a no-contact order, stalking, and residential burglary. The charges stem from a long-running fixed delusion in which she believes former Walmart CEO Doug McMillon and his wife are her biological parents.
The Context & Original Incident
• 2015 Incident: Thomas was first arrested in October 2015 after unlawfully entering the McMillon family home. She was charged with misdemeanor harassment and criminal trespassing.
• The Delusion: Court records from her subsequent involuntary commitment petitions revealed that Thomas, whose biological parents are deceased, suffers from a severe psychotic delusion. She firmly believed the McMillons were her parents and, according to a 2023 court petition, believed that they would eventually "go back to their home planet".
• Mental Health Commitment: After being found unfit to stand trial, Thomas spent years under care at the Arkansas State Hospital.
Resolution and Recent Arrest.
Her fitness to stand trial was restored in 2023, leading to a diversion agreement and a 12-month suspended sentence. Under the agreement, she was strictly required to maintain mental health treatment and have absolutely no contact with the family.
Despite these orders, she was taken back into custody by the Bentonville Police Department following a breach of the agreement, leading to the new felony and misdemeanor charges. (Note: Doug McMillon retired from his role as Walmart CEO in January 2026). Complete article
