Walmart had at least twelve more shootings in June 2026, with five of them fatal, and the police chased and caught a thirteenth shooter two days after a shooting at a house, it's unclear if he was armed during the foot chase at Walmart. Two of the five fatal shootings were by police who killed a toddler fleeing with the friend of a suspect, and another was a suspect in a different state who shot two police officers, a third fatal shooting was a suicide after a suspect was chased by police. The alleged justification for shooting the child was that the car was driving toward the police officer threatening his life, but the autopsy showed the child was covered with shattered glass from the passenger side indicating the officer was to the side of the car, not in front where he would be at risk, and the alleged theft was for a petty amount, there have been protests demanding the arrest of the officer and that he be charged with murder.
Another of the fatal shootings was over a parking space dispute, where a veteran returned to the space after parking in another part of the parking lot and a woman told him to stand back pulling a gun on him, he continued to approach when she shot her, with it all caught on camera. Four of the non-fatal shootings were accidental with three shooting themselves, and the fourth accidentally shooting another shopper, there were a total of at least nine injuries from shootings, including the ones already mentioned, at least one or two of these are critical so they could still result in deaths.
In addition to the five shooting deaths there was one person stabbed to death, with a couple more stabbing injuries, one person beat to death, one person killed in a Walmart Truck accident, one person electrocuted to death in a construction accident, three bodies found on their property, and a dog that died in the parking lot for a total of at least twelve dead people plus the dog. There was also a case of a police officer cleared of wrong doing in a previous fatal shooting even though the suspect was running away from him, in a petty theft, but he did have a gun which he dropped and picked back up, but wasn't holding it in a manner that he could shoot anyone.
In addition to the shootings there were numerous other gun related crimes including armed robberies, road rage arguments and a suspected shoplifter the police claimed was armed, as a result of alleged reports from Walmart employees, but video of these employees doesn't indicate they said that, and it may show officers using intimidating questions to extract a confession when they had little or no evidence, but there might be some doubts about the video.
Walmart is also having numerous disputes with both customers and employees, including a lawsuit filed over false accusations of shoplifting, which requires high court fees to discourage them, but they're still getting much more common with the increase in self-checkout thefts followed by efforts to clamp down on them while still cutting corners, making false accusations more likely. Another customers has claimed that Walmart is stealing at the checkout by computer programs the shopper claims "isn't a glitch." And a former 16-year-old employee who got in an argument with a supervisor who fired her was arrested in an abusive manner because she refused to return a store vest right away, insisting she give it to another supervisor, but neither the police or supervisor were willing to wait to resolve the situation peacefully.
A "Historic" union deal was signed in a Walmart Canadian warehouse, which they claim was a "first-ever union deal;" however there were several previous deals signed, and Walmart always retaliated by closing down stores, or a meat cutting department to avoid dealing with the unions. One previous case was in Canada, and the courts eventually ruled Walmart acted illegally, but did little more to defend workers. If this union is allowed to stay it really will be a "first-ever union deal."
There were, of course, an enormous amount of other crimes, often of incredibly petty things that have little or no practical value, unless you consider the value created by advertising hype to make things seem to worth much more than they are, like jewelry, which even Henry Oppenheimer admits is bought mostly because of "vanity" not because it improves the quality of life. They're also creating so many opportunities for theft by cutting corners with fewer cashiers or other workers they invite theft and scams then blame the workers if they need a scapegoat, and are no trying to shame the thiefs because they claim it's the workers paying the price for theft, as scapegoats. Instead Walmart should stop blaming workers for corner cutting by management or executives!
Walmart had half a dozen or so fights or brawls, sometimes causing panics and large police presence. In addition to the death in an accident Walmart also had over half a dozen accidents, some hitting the store or multiple vehicles, chases, stolen vehicles, including a suspect that escaped by stealing a deputy's vehicle, DUIs, hit and runs and other automobile crimes or incidents. This includes at least one burning car, and three other fires in stores, all arson including one started by a Molotov cocktail.
In addition to the fatal stabbing, which also had at least two more stabbing injuries, there were at least four more knife attacks or threats, including thefts, and at least one more stabbing.
Walmart had close to a dozen, if not more than a dozen more recalls, including one where the manufacturer of E-bikes that injured 31 people didn't respond or make the recall official, but the Consumer Product Safety Commission urged people to stop using them, there's no word yet on if they'll get their money back, Walmart often refuses initially then changes their mind when media attention is drawn to it. Other recalls which are official, but not widely reported include frozen pizza recalled for a "serious risk," cheese bread, baby bottles recalled for choking hazard, dressers which are at risk of tipping over (This happens numerous times per year sometimes repeatedly every month), coffeemakers that burned users, hundreds of thousands of tower heaters causing possible burns, children's toys with asbestos, chicken nuggets and sausage patties with plastic contamination, and vitamins with a salmonella threat.
There was also a mom who sued after she found worms in her SpaghettiOs and even Chinese regulators are demanding Walmart stop safety risks. Walmart cuts corners wherever they can even though it often backfires and even poorer countries are standing up to them.
How often do you see several teens speeding up and down Walmart aisles on E-bikes, then leaving the store before police arrive?
Have you ever come to the conclusion that all you have to do is declare yourself a "Sovereign citizen" and you'll no longer be accountable to the law? Apparently it doesn't work at Walmart.
Have you ever called the police on yourself and told them you weren't going to stop stealing from Walmart until they arrest you? Wouldn't you expect this to be more common in the fall or winter when people need a warm place to sleep?
Strange things happen at Walmart!
In 2006 Wake Up Walmart did a study, "Is Walmart Safe?" based on incidents in 2004, (PDF) about crime at Walmart which showed that it increased when Walmarts opened up and that crime was higher at Walmart than at other retailers. Since then Walmart Shootings began compiling a list of gun related incidents at Walmart and demonstrated that they have a large number of them, including on average more than one shooting per week somewhere in the country; now after counting them for several years that average is over two per week. In January of 2014 another study, "Rolling Back Prices and Raising Crime Rates?" provided additional statistical research indicating that Walmart might be contributing to higher crime rates or at least a slowing of the decline in crime. The study found that. “on average, communities with Walmarts had 17 more property crimes and two more violent crimes per 10,000 people than those communities without Walmarts.” I reviewed this more in Walmart’s crime problem, Rolling Back Safety more than prices? where I explained that although this study is helpful they could have done better with additional data that is available and I reviewed some of that. I also added my own review about why I think that Walmart policies have been contributing to higher crime in a previous blog, Walmart high crime rate continues un-investigaterd and have provided additional information under the author tag Walmart Crime Watch.
Over the past ten to fifteen years Walmart has been increasing the use of self-checkout, and this has corresponded with a steady increase in shoplifting as well as false accusations, yet they refuse to even discuss returning to the use of cashiers. What most people seem to have forgotten was that when they first did this it was on a small scale as an experiment, presumably to see if it worked before expanding it, which would actually make sense, if they slowed it down or reversed it once they saw how many problems it caused. But that's not what they did. Instead the more problems they had the more they increased use of self-checkout, often claiming that instead of hiring more cashiers again, which worked previously, they resorted to more technology and hiring more security to catch people skip scanning or at other forms of theft. This has led to massive amounts of false accusations, in addition to the real thefts, and when the thefts are real, and they get caught, they often resort to violence, so it endangers both Walmart workers and customers.
Now they're acting as if the rise of shoplifting is happening for some inexplicable reason and even asking police to help them solve this problem, as if it wasn't a problem created by their own policies, and most of the media or politicians aren't pointing out the obvious. This is resulting in a massive increase in arrests, court expenses, and prison expenses, which Walmart isn't paying for, effectively meaning we are subsidizing Walmart's high crime problems with tax money. There's no official explanation for why they're behaving so foolishly; but, since this is a for profit corporation it's not hard to speculate about the most likely reason for it, that they're increasing profits for those making the decisions. But, a large portion of the money saved by not hiring cashiers is spent on technology or security to catch thieves; and, if they had to pay the increase in police, courts and prison costs that would reduce or eliminate their savings, and they would almost certainly reverse their policies, because they wouldn't be increasing profits with self-checkout.
This doesn't even include the risk to the health of both their customers and workers when the worst thieves turn violent, in some cases possibly even shooting and killing people. Every year since 2016 has seen more than a hundred shootings at Walmart, and more often than not, this is increasing, while they ignore the causes of their crime problems. These self-checkouts are also making it easier for thieves to put "skimmers" that collect credit or debit card information from customers that enable them to use their cards illegally, but, once again, the customers are stuck with the tab, not Walmart, so they're doing little or nothing to stop this, even though it's a direct result of their bad policies. And furthermore, courts have ruled that Walmart has a right to detain customers even when they have no reason to believe they're shoplifting, if they simply refuse to show receipts, as a matter of principle. At times some lawyers have claimed they need probable cause to ask to see receipts, which, if a customer goes directly from the register, sometimes even when there's a cashier, to the door they can't possibly have. So this means Walmart is under no obligation to assume their paying customers are innocent until proven guilty, which should raise major constitutional questions!
Stacy Mitchell has also compiled a list of other studies about Walmart and how they impact society, Key Studies on Big-Box Retail & Independent Business. To the best of my knowledge Walmart has done as little as they seem to get away with, often relying on rhetoric that isn't backed up with action, when it comes to addressing any of their critics concerns, including crime. One of the responses they’ve come up with is what they call "Restorative Justice" which gives first time shoplifters a chance to avoid being arrested or any criminal record if they take an on line course which costs $400 up front or $500 in payments, plus perhaps, reparations. This has been part of the privatization process and often denies suspects of the due process or access to a lawyer, perhaps even intimidating and extorting from some people that might not even be guilty. Walmart seems to be trying to find a way to turn crime into a profit making situation instead of looking for the most effective ways to reduce it. Making Change at Walmart is asking If you or someone you know has gone through @Walmart's "Restorative Justice" program for first-time suspected shoplifters, send us a DM. 03/30/2017 to ensure that it isn’t doing more harm than good. I did my own review of this program as well at Walmart’s “Restorative Justice” Endangers Public Without Reducing Crime. The following are a list of incidents that occurred in June 2026. According to the "Is Walmart Safe?" the average store in their sampling had 250 incidents per year indicating that these are only a fraction of the crime reports at Walmart, and presumably, the ones most likely to make the news on the internet nationwide. This isn't statistically representative, as the 2006 or the "Rolling Back Prices and Raising Crime Rates?" study or some of the studies cited by Stacy Mitchell; but it does provide some additional information that may help recognize how many problems there are at Walmart.

Man charged with lobbing Molotov cocktail at Las Vegas Nevada Walmart 06/02/2026
A man has been charged with lobbing a Molotov cocktail into a Las Vegas Walmart that has endured six different suspicious fires at its business since mid-April.
Kenley Hammond, 35, was initially arrested by the Metropolitan Police Department on suspicion of terrorism and arson. Prosecutors charged Hammond with a trio of felonies: first- and third-degree arson and possession of an explosive device, but the terrorism charge was not pursued.
A police arrest report for Hammond shows Las Vegas firefighters and officers were called to the Walmart at 201 N. Nellis Blvd. at 4:01 p.m. May 25 for a fire at the garden center of the business. Police obtained video surveillance showing a man climbing out of a wash nearby, then lighting a lighter and lobbing what police suspect was a bottle containing a flammable liquid over the wall of the store. A fire ensued, causing more than $20,000 in damage.
“When speaking with Walmart employees, officers were informed that there have been multiple instances of fires being lit near the west wall of Walmart,” police wrote in the report.

Oconee Ga. Blotter: Walmart shoplifting suspect flees in deputy's vehicle 06/02/2026
PATROL CAR STOLEN: On May 15, Deputy Annessa Glenn was dispatched to Walmart about a shoplifting in progress. As the suspect pushed a cart of merchandise to the exit, the loss prevention officer took the cart from her. The 34-year-old Morgan County woman stuck out her tongue and shouted, “Ha, ha.” When she turned around, she saw the deputy and shouted an expletive. Then she ran.
The deputy grabbed her. A struggle ensued. After the deputy was bitten, she pulled her stun gun and incapacitated the suspect, who was placed in handcuffs. Glenn was notified that the suspect was also wanted in Newton and Barrow counties. The woman was placed in the backseat of the patrol unit, and Glenn went inside to view a video of the crime.
Deputy Tyler Ward was in the store, and as he walked outside to his patrol unit, he saw that Glenn’s vehicle was leaving. At first, he thought Glenn was transporting the suspect, but he observed the vehicle screeching its tires as it sped recklessly from the scene. He ran into Walmart and told Glenn about her patrol unit. A lookout was issued for the stolen 2024 Ford Explorer. The unit was spotted speeding on Highway 316 toward Barrow County, where deputies in that county engaged a pursuit at more than 120 mph.
The suspect was involved in a crash with two other vehicles before it crashed into a guardrail near the Highway 78 intersection. The deputies noted it’s unclear how the suspect got out of the backseat, which enabled her to steal the unit. She was taken to a hospital in Athens for treatment. Later she was charged with felony shoplifting, theft of a motor vehicle, obstruction, DUI, and reckless driving. Complete article

New Walmart Cashier Was Targeted by Scammers Almost as Soon as She Started Working, and She Wants Customers to Stop Taking Advantage of Retail Workers 06/01/2026
A lot of people think scamming big stores is harmless because the company itself will never notice the loss.
But as this new Walmart cashier explains, those scams usually don’t hurt the corporation nearly as much as they hurt the employees working the registers.
Within her first couple of weeks on the job, she has dealt with customers trying to confuse her during transactions, hide merchandise, manipulate prices, and pressure her into breaking store rules.
And the worst part is that cashiers are often the ones blamed if something slips through.
Read on to hear all about her experience so far.
I live in a small town with little to no job opportunities. It took me 3 years to get a cashier job at Walmart.
When you scam, you’re not “sticking it to the man” or “scamming big companies,” you’re only getting cashiers fired.
I’ve only been working here for 12 days, and I have already been scammed and attempted to be scammed. Complete article

Motor City Pizza Co. cheese bread sold at Costco, Walmart, Target recalled 06/01/2026
Champion Foods LLC of New Boston, Michigan, is voluntarily recalling certain batches of its Motor City Pizza Co. 5 Cheese Bread products over concerns of potential Salmonella contamination, the company announced May 29, 2026. The affected products were distributed and sold nationwide through a range of retailers and distributors, including Costco, Walmart, Target, and Kroger.
The recall was triggered by an upstream supplier issue. Champion Foods said the action follows a California Dairies, Inc. milk powder recall due to concerns about potential Salmonella contamination. The recalled milk powder was supplied to a third-party manufacturer that produces a seasoning blend used in the 5-cheese sauce. According to the company, neither Champion Foods nor its suppliers have received any reports of illness or injury connected to the products, and routine testing by the seasoning blend manufacturer prior to production showed negative results for Salmonella. Champion Foods said it is acting out of an abundance of caution.
Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, particularly in young children, the elderly and individuals with weakened immune systems, according to the recall notice. Common symptoms include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare cases, the bacteria can enter the bloodstream and cause more severe illnesses, including arterial infections, endocarditis and arthritis. Complete article

Charlotte NC shopper sues Walmart after ‘humiliating’ encounter over salad dressing 06/04/2026
A Charlotte woman has sued Walmart, claiming store security and other employees threatened and humiliated her after salad dressing wouldn’t scan at a self-service checkout station.
Brianna Jones told The Charlotte Observer she spent $129 on groceries for her family and a disabled, elderly neighbor at the store located at 3240 Wilkinson Blvd. on March 25. Suddenly, the scanner quit as she tried to scan her neighbor’s $5.01 container of Hidden Valley Original Ranch dressing, she said.
She asked a nearby security guard to use his badge to fix the scanner because she still had multiple items to purchase, her lawsuit states.
Suddenly, what seemed like a dozen security and other workers surrounded her, she said in her lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Charlotte on May 1. She paid the $407 fee to file the negligence complaint at the courthouse, she told the Observer. The lawsuit is pro se, meaning she is representing herself.
At the store, a manager told Jones she inactivated the scanner because Jones was moving items too quickly through the scanner, as if she were trying to steal them, Jones told the Observer. The lawsuit claimed she was confronted over a bottle of mustard, but she later told the Observer that it was actually salad dressing. ......
Shopper says she was “held against her will”
At the checkout station, a woman working at the store “harshly snatched items from Plaintiff’s hands,” the lawsuit states. “The aggressive and physical manner in which the employee seized the items was unnecessary, unwarranted and intentionally humiliating to Plaintiff.” Complete article

Walmart shopper accuses store of ‘theft’ at the checkout: ‘This isn’t a glitch’ 06/04/2026
Sometimes pennywise shopping still comes at a high cost.
Walmart, widely revered for its rollback prices and bargain basement deals, is currently at the eye of the internet’s ire as irate whistleblowers are accusing the company of “stealing” customer funds via “false advertising” and dynamic pricing inflation.
“Walmart is actively stealing from customers by advertising lower prices than they charge at the register,” Organic Yodelz, a heated habituĂ©, ranted in a “Walmart Customer” Reddit thread, titling the post “Walmart is Stealing.”
Allegations of dynamic pricing, a controversial stunt that sees corporations use algorithms to spike prices based on broader trends and demand, have plagued Walmart. The superstore debuted its digital shelf label (DSL) technology across 2,300 US locations in March. Complete article

A mom says she saw worms in her SpaghettiOs. Then a lawsuit was filed 06/03/2026
A Florida woman has filed a federal lawsuit against The Campbell's Company and Walmart, alleging she and her child became seriously ill after eating canned SpaghettiOs she says were contaminated with worms or parasite-like organisms.
According to court filings, Mary Hubbard alleges the product was unsafe and “unfit for human consumption” when it was sold and consumed in June 2024 at her home in Okeechobee County, Florida. The complaint says she purchased the canned pasta at a Walmart store before preparing it for herself and her daughter.
The filing states that after they began eating the meal, Hubbard observed what appeared to be worm-like organisms moving within the food. It also alleges that she recorded video footage showing the contamination inside the product. The lawsuit seeks at least $75,000 in damages.
The defendants include The Campbell's Company (formerly Campbell Soup Company) and Walmart, Inc., along with related corporate subsidiaries named in the complaint. Campbell's told USA TODAY on June 3 that the company does not comment on pending litigation, but believes the claims are "without merit." Complete article

‘Historic’: Canadian warehouse workers sign first-ever union deal with Walmart 06/06/2026
Union says collective agreement is just the start of a broader fight to unionize major employers across the country.
Canadian warehouse workers have signed the first-ever collective agreement with Walmart, a breakthrough labour organizers are calling a “historic and powerful step”.
But the union says the deal with a corporation long hostile to organized labour is only an opening salvo in a broader fight to unionize major employers across the country.
In May, workers in Mississauga, Ontario, signed a contract with Walmart, the world’s largest employer, that includes a pay bump, guarantees over working conditions and a lump sum payout to settle allegations of unfair labour practices.
“These members were determined to have workplace democracy and they stuck with it,” said Lana Payne, president of Unifor, Canada’s largest private sector union. “Their courage and determination, their decision to be part of a collective bargaining table with one of the biggest corporations in the world, is why they made labour history.” Complete article

Has any Walmart or groups of Walmarts ever voted to unionize? If so has Walmart ever shut down stores to avoid dealing with unions? 07/02/2026
Yes, a small number of Walmart locations have successfully voted to unionize, primarily through the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) union. Walmart has historically combated these efforts aggressively and has faced significant legal scrutiny and labor board complaints over store closures linked to union activity.
Here is how these situations have played out historically:
Jacksonville, Texas (2000): Ten meat cutters at a Walmart Supercenter voted 7-to-3 to unionize. Rather than dealing with the union, Walmart announced shortly after that it was eliminating in-store meat-cutting operations nationwide and switching to prepackaged meat, effectively dissolving the union's bargaining unit.
Jonquière, Quebec (2004): This store made history as the first Walmart in North America to successfully unionize. Shortly after the union was certified, Walmart announced the store was closing entirely, citing "business reasons." Canada's Supreme Court ultimately ruled that the shutdown was an illegal retaliation for the unionization.
Pico Rivera, California (2015): This store was home to a highly active chapter of OUR Walmart (an employee labor organization). Walmart abruptly closed the store and laid off over 500 workers, citing "ongoing plumbing issues." The UFCW filed a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), alleging the closure was an illegal retaliation for labor activism.
Today, Walmart has no successfully operating unionized stores in the United States, and the company heavily relies on routine anti-union training to prevent further organizing efforts. Complete article

Chinese regulator tells Walmart to stamp out food safety risks 06/15/2026
BEIJING, June 15 (Reuters) - China's market regulator has ordered strict measures by Walmart supermarket chain Sam's Club to eliminate food safety risks throughout its supply chain and safeguard public dietary safety, the regulator said.
The admonition comes amid a push to expand in China during which Sam's Club racked up double-digit growth in transactions last year as new openings boosted its tally of membership-only stores to 63 nationwide, its website shows.
The action followed a meeting with an executive of the U.S. retailer to discuss recently detected food safety issues, the State Administration for Market Regulation said in a notice on Monday, without giving the date of the meeting.
Walmart's China office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
"We will regularly report rectification progress to the regulatory authorities and proactively accept supervision," Sam's Club said in an apology, according to a state-backed media outlet, the Paper. Complete article

Walmart pushes back as New York lawmakers scrutinize electronic shelf labels 06/14/2026
Walmart is pushing back as New York lawmakers scrutinize electronic shelf labels, saying the digital tags are not used for surveillance pricing. The retailer says the labels are now on nearly all products in its Albany supercenter on Washington Avenue Extension and help cut down on work.
Dwayne Hazel said the system gives employees more time for other jobs, while Ken McNealy said corporate sends new prices each Sunday.
The public debate has led lawmakers to consider bans, including a bill passed by the Senate but not the Assembly before adjournment. Walmart says it has deployed the devices in 2,300 stores so far, and it says customers see the same prices at any U.S. store or on its app. Complete article
NY lawmakers vote to ban ‘surveillance pricing,’ but digital price tags survive 06/06/2026 Businesses would be prohibited from using personal data to tailor prices to individual customers in New York under a newly passed bill meant to crack down on a practice critics have called “surveillance pricing.”
The state Assembly, however, declined to vote on companion legislation that would’ve also banned electronic price labels from the shelves of grocery stores and pharmacies, a measure pushed by labor unions who contend the technology can be used to instantly hike prices and reduce the stores’ workforce.
Grocery stores, business groups and delivery services including Instacart lobbied hard against the measures, arguing they will lead to price increases and could complicate customer loyalty programs. The stores dismissed concerns about the digital price tags, insisting they’re used only as a matter of technological convenience over the traditional method of changing shelf labels by hand.

‘Thought That Walmart Would Have Everything’: Woman Gets Oil Changed At Walmart. Then She Goes To Advance Auto Parts 06/20/2026
'Why should I need to go to an auto parts store to take parts to an auto parts store?'
Getting your oil changed is one of the most common maintenance steps every car owner has to take. Given this, one might think that it would be easy, but, as the internet tells us, there’s a lot of confusion surrounding oil changes.
Spend enough time online, and you’ll realize that people aren’t sure how often they need to get their oil changed, which oil they should use, how much they should pay, and, crucially, whether they can do it themselves or they need to take it to a shop.
If you opt for the latter, you’d assume that you’d be able to leave your car at the shop and simply come back when it’s ready. However, one woman says she recently took her car to Walmart for an oil change and ended up needing to run an errand for their shop. What went wrong here? Complete article

Community meeting to discuss Tx. Walmart drone delivery program 06/22/2026
Zipline, the company behind Walmart drone deliveries in Lake Highlands and Hamilton Park, will co-host a community meeting with Council member Kathy Stewart on June 30. Zipline representatives will answer questions about their service and address concerns about noise, safety and security.
In Richardson, Amazon was forced to make adjustments to its Prime Air delivery program after neighbors complained about the constant buzz and frequency of the drones, according to Community Impact. At a March 9 meeting of the Richardson City Council, Amazon rep Sam Bailey announced increased minimum altitudes and redirected flight patterns intended to reduce the irritation. Decreasing the actual sound output would require a hardware change, which is not in Amazon’s shortrange plans, he said.
Drones are primarily regulated by the Federal Aviation Administration, so Amazon’s concessions were via agreement versus regulation, City Manager Don Magner explained.
According to Walmart, the retailer operates a massive on-demand drone delivery network, and customers in DFW, Houston, Phoenix, Orlando, Tampa and Salt Lake City may order thousands of eligible household and grocery items weighing up to 10 pounds for delivery in as little as 30 minutes. After the order is placed, it is loaded into a small delivery pod. A drone flies it to the buyer’s location, hovers at 300 feet, lowers the pod via tether and gently drops the package into their yard. Complete article

California drivers sue BP, Marathon, and Walmart over AI gas price-fixing 06/23/2026
A proposed class action claims the companies used an AI tool from Kalibrate to coordinate prices at more than 1,700 California stations.
California drivers have filed a proposed class action against BP $BP -0.92%, Marathon $MPC -0.38%, Walmart $WMT +2.10%, and other major gas station operators, alleging they used an artificial intelligence pricing tool to fix pump prices across the state, according to Reuters.
At the center of the case is a pricing tool developed by a company called Kalibrate, which the complaint says harvests data from rival stations to push prices higher — a practice the drivers argue violates California's Cartwright Act, the state's primary antitrust statute. Kalibrate is also named as a defendant. The defendants either did not respond to requests for comment or declined to comment.
Drivers also point to Assembly Bill 325, a state law that became effective January 1 and was designed to combat the use of algorithms to manipulate prices, as a second legal basis for their claims. Complete article

Asbestos Found in Children’s Toys Sold at Walmart and Ollie’s 06/24/2026
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled more than 121,000 children’s squeeze toys after testing found tremolite asbestos in the sand inside them. The toys, sold under the Orb Funkee brand at Walmart and Ollie’s Bargain Outlet stores nationwide, are soft, stretchy, sand-filled monkey-shaped toys. Parents who bought them should stop letting children use them immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund.
The recall covers Model 17451, a large golden “monkee,” and Model 41929, an assortment of smaller “monkees” in orange, purple and green. Both have the date code 3102491A. The date code appears on the hand of the larger toy and on the back of the smaller ones.
The Orb Factory imported the toys from China and sold them at stores between February 2025 and April 2026 for between $5 and $40. The same toys had already been recalled in the United Kingdom before the U.S. recall. Contaminated toys likely reached children in multiple countries before the recall. Complete article

Man pulls knife on Walmart employees after DHS released him saying was no threat to the public 06/29/2026
In late 2024, William Herren was charged with arson after he poured charcoal lighter over his body and lit it in an apparent suicide attempt.
At the time of the fire, the 56-year-old Herren was staying in a room at the Executive Inn. He was found lying outside the room and had to be assisted to a safe location.
Herren was reported to have told first responders that he “needed to die.” ......
Because the paperwork trail grew so cold after Herren was taken to the treatment center in Barling, it is impossible to tell how long he was in treatment – or even if he was ever in treatment – before he reappeared in Mountain Home wielding a knife at Walmart. Herren’s charges in the new case are aggravated assault and disorderly conduct and bond is set at $10,000. .....
What is on the record is that Herren was arrested after pulling a knife on a Walmart employee on April 10. A Mountain Home police officer arrived on scene and spotted Herren near the grocery pickup area at the store.
Herren was said to have refused multiple commands to drop his knife. He made statements including that people were trying to sex traffic him and he needed to be provided protection by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
After a time, Herren was reported to have thrown the knife down and said, “take me to jail.” He repeated the thought that unnamed people were trying to sex traffic him and asked officers to shoot him. Complete article

‘I claimed Social Security at 62’: At 76, I’m working at Walmart. Why do I still owe payroll taxes? 06/29/2026
Dear Quentin,
I filed for Social Security at 62 because I was having a hard time paying my bills without it. I am now 76 and have been working full-time or part-time ever since then. I see so many other seniors working too. In fact, it seems like half of the workforce at our local Walmart is over 65. I get Social Security taxes taken out of every paycheck.
Where is all that money going if I am still working and contributing? Complete article

An alarming defect in e-bikes sold on Amazon and Walmart has injured 31 people 06/30/2026
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is urging owners of Ridstar Q20 and Q20 Lite e-bikes to immediately stop using the products and dispose of them because the front wheel can detach without warning, creating a serious crash hazard.
The federal agency has documented 32 incidents of front wheels detaching from the e-bikes, resulting in 31 injuries. Victims have suffered concussions, broken bones, cuts, scrapes and bruises.
The manufacturer, Huizhou Xingqishi Sporting Goods Co. of China, has not responded to CPSC requests for information about the products or coordinated a recall. The agency warns owners not to sell or give away the defective e-bikes.
Owners must exercise caution when disposing of the lithium-ion batteries, which were previously flagged in a separate safety warning for fire hazards. The batteries should not be placed in trash or recycling bins. Instead, consumers should contact their local municipal household hazardous waste collection center to determine if they accept defective lithium-ion batteries. Complete article
