The Wikileaks E-Mails have confirmed what many political junkies already knew.
The system is rigged!
However the strongest evidence for this conclusion was actually public before the leaks. The leaks only show that it's much worse than most people realize; and they provide an enormous amount of evidence to confirm this and show how the elite are rigging the system.
Assuming people actually read these E-Mails.
The traditional media has hyped up a small fraction of them including many that are clearly "smoking guns;" however they follow this up with spin that is repeated over and over again and claim there are no "smoking guns." This is a basic propaganda tactic revealed in an old quote often ironically attributed to Vladimir Lenin, "A lie repeated often enough becomes the truth," or at least it appears to; especially for those that aren't accustomed to checking their own facts or don't have reliable people to do this for them.
The most important evidence indicating that the system is rigged is that only a small percentage of the public are involved in the decision making process. Those that are involved in it come from the same class of people and others can't even influence the decisions about who is hired for many important jobs.
When was the last time you voted directly for the DNC or RNC chair? The majority or minority leaders or many other political offices? When was the last time you voted for a grassroots journalists and demanded that he or she have a fair chance to get competitive views across to the public through the mass media?
Thorough reform can't be limited to handing control of the election process to organizations directly accountable to the public. We also need a much more diverse media that reports on a large variety of subjects from different points of view.
Well over 90% of the media is controlled by six corporations; and these corporations are financed by a semi-hidden propaganda tax that all of us have to pay, yet we have no control of the media or chance to demand that they provide coverage for the most credible research and news, or even a much more diverse selection of news. This semi-hidden propaganda tax comes in the form of advertising revenues collected by the media from the oligarchies that control almost all of the economy. A certain percentage of revenue is routinely spent on advertising for any given business; this money comes from us and we can't avoid paying it if we participate in the economic system.
If there is no way to avoid some bureaucracy controlling the interview process then at least it should be fully open and controlled by the people, one way or another. And instead of treating the rules as trade secrets and allowing back room deals to rig the debates and primaries so that only candidates approved by corporations get any air time or are allowed into the debates there should be disclosure laws requiring all relevant information be made available to the public.
This doesn't mean that the people currently controlling the DNC or RNC shouldn't be able to preserve their organizations like any other private organization; however they shouldn't have control over the election process without accountability to the majority of the public; and they especially shouldn't be able to shroud their activities in secret while they rig the election process for the benefit of their campaign contributors so that only politicians that cater to corporate interests can get into the debates or get any media coverage.
Furthermore the corrupt activities exposed, whether it was by Wikileaks or any other source, is almost certainly enough to consider RICO charges treating both political parties as criminal organizations guilty of negligent mass murder among many other things. They've been rigging the elections for decades so that only candidates that support wars based on lies have a chance; or candidates that support oil companies, look the other way at pollution that is killing people, labor practices that endanger workers around the world, suppress wages so that wealth is funneled to the top; commit epidemic levels of fraud by only providing political or news coverage that enables insurance companies and gaming institutions among many other corporations to deceive the public getting massive profits without giving the public their moneys worth; and many other things that should be considered white collar crimes, which aren't enforced at all, assuming they're illegal at all, can get elected.
If there is any doubt about how corrupt the establishment, including the media, the Commission on Presidential Debates, both the DNC and RNC and other political establishments, is then this should be eliminated by simply considering that two of the most corrupt candidates just got the major Party nominations thanks to enormous amounts of coverage by these institutions while candidates that didn't collect enormous amounts of bribes thinly disguised as campaign contributions weren't able to get any coverage at all guaranteeing that no one would hear about them and they would lose.
Breaking promises has been standard operating procedure for decades if not centuries; now they don't even bother pretending that they're going to keep their promises. In only a couple weeks Donald Trump has already demonstrated that he's going to hire as many politically connected people as past presidents and that he'll probably be almost as corrupt, if not as corrupt as he accused Clinton of being. The only reason he had any chance was because his accusations against Clinton were right.
By nominating the two most corrupt candidates and telling the public they have to chose between them; it should be clear that the system has totally broken down.

As long as they can come up with enough propaganda to fool enough voters to limit their choices to those presented by the political establishment they don't seem to feel the need to respect the rights of many people on any given issue. This will inevitably lead to a deterioration of our society; and this is already happening in many "sacrifice zones," like abandoned inner cities, areas with poor people that are being polluted like Flint Michigan, Chrystal City Texas, North Dakota on Standing Rock territory where they're trying to force the pipeline through and many more places. If they can get away with it in these places they'll continue to expand until the damage is irreversible; and this rigged system has just enabled a Climate Change denier who wants to eliminate most if not all protections for the environment, to be elected, whether you consider it legitimate or not.
Evidence has repeatedly come out indicating that they've been trying to rig the primaries so that the most extreme candidates would have the best chance of winning, supposedly so that Hillary Clinton would win easily, without addressing the interests of the public; however intentionally or not it enabled Trump to win instead; and he clearly has little or no interest in serving the interests of the public either. This includes to following strategy indicating they wanted an extreme right wing "Pied Piper" candidate:

This adds to several other E-Mails supporting this including ones described in a Counter Punch article, Elevating Trump 10/11/2016, a Politico article Breitbart coordinated with liberal activist and organizer who disrupted GOP primary campaign events 10/24/2016 and several other E-Mails including Fwd: Urgent: IL call 11/30/2014 which said, "The overall goal is to move the IL primary out of mid March, where they are currently a lifeline to a moderate Republican candidate after the mostly southern Super Tuesday. IL was a key early win for Romney in 12." There were additional E-Mails repeating this and at least one saying that they wanted to keep the California primary as late as possible so that moderates wouldn't have a chance to gain ground.
There should be no doubt that if we had political institutions that were remotely trying to do a good job we never would have come up with two candidates as horrendous as this guaranteeing that we would wind up with the most corrupt president no matter which we choose. These institutions have demonstrated that they have absolutely no legitimacy!
One of these E-Mails even says, "Clinton's won't forget what their friends have done for them." It is hard to imagine how much closer to a "quid quo pro" you can get than that but there's more where that came from and Trump is now openly demonstrating that he's rewarding his loyal supporters, even though it isn't in the best interests of the public to hire people based on loyalty with little or no regard for qualifications.
Wikileaks may have been reporting more on the DNC lately; however the RNC is no better and reports about how they have been suppressing voting rights ahve been coming out for at least four or five years if not since the 2000 election or earlier. Greg Palast has been one of the better reporters investigating this and he has updated his reporting on The Best Democracy Money Can Buy. However even though this may make it appear as if he stole it from Clinton neither of them would have had a chance to get the nomination if not for the obsessive media coverage for corrupt candidates approved by the media without covering honest candidate.
Donald Trump didn't steal the election from Clinton any more than George W. Bush stole the election from Al Gore Jr.; they both stole the election from the people with the help of the media!
